  • The nerve of Schehnkman. Needed his butt whooped for real. LOL

  • I am glad Maris cheated on him maybe now he will grow a spine and move on Niles is so afraid of being alone he can't see she does not love him

  • a lot of people dont know this but john mahoney is actually British, he served in Korea with the USMC in order to earn his citizenship

  • "You know, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get any of you married and out of this house!"

Ah... thank you Mother Daphne. lol

  • oh my God I can't take Niles crying! Makes me nearly cry myself :(

  • The scene at the end of this episode is so touching :)

  • Is that John Waters? at the beinning calling in?

  • Niles sometimes makes me sick, my friend is in a relationship with a woman like Maris and she man handles him too and he takes her abuse all the makes excuses for her just like Niles does it's gross!!!

  • EveryBody I got the Script of This Episode ,Just Inbox and i will hook u up :)

  • Is dr. Shankmen the same actor who played sumner sloane in cheers? Sounds extremely similiar

  • 16:17-17:12 is proof that David Hyde Pierce is a fantastic actor.

  • Possibly the best moment in the show for those three actors together. What brilliance from these men.

  • This has to be one of my favorite episodes of frasier in the entirety of the series... man, what an incredible series.

  • episodes like these gave fraiser the depth and the sense of family bondage that it so easily portrayed. very well written. these never get old. and uplifts your mood.

  • When we finally see Maris in that one episode she's actually kinda cute

  • @davathan what episode is that? i have never seen Maris

  • @g9yx1s There isn't any episode where we see Maris, although there is "Voyage of the Damned" where we see the merest silhoutte. @davathan is just blowing smoke. I know, because I have seen the entire eleven seasons many times. Guilty of being a diehard Frasier fan.

  • Frasier said at one point "I've never had a patient fall in love with me". What about Diane?

  • I looooove it when Niles finally loses it and starts choking the Dr.

  • You know, all three Crane men have had their wives cheat on them. Poor guys!

  • @Neel0385 Wow!!! Never thought of that! Pretty interesting concept given the era of the show (guys stereotypically are given the cheating role).

  • I feel so sorry for Niles here. Both the bedroom scene and the bit with the group therapy are so hilarious that it distracts you from how horrible a thing this is, and when he breaks down into tears, it feels like whiplash. IMHO, that's exactly how comedies should handle big emotional events: play it for laughs, but then have the characters react emotionally.

And that last scene, with the drinks and the balcony, has got to be in my top five favorite scenes of this show.

  • @grumpytosnowwhite yeah that ending, the toast to the crane boys, was outstanding. it really shows you what kind of program "Frasier" is: it's not 100% comdedy; its about values and family.

  • @MrAweeze

    family values ?

    those are empty meaningless words

you mean lusting after another woman for years and years while being married to another

how about homophobia that 'family values' are so renouned for?

  • @consrignornt yeah thats the "Comedy" part of the sitcom (situational comedy); but remeber the "situational" part. that stuff happens in real life that doesn't mean the show doesn't have something good to teach. and im not sure i've caught on to any significant "homophobic" vibe tbh

  • @grumpytosnowwhite You know for many years I have taken courses in english that had explored the motif ofthe comraderie among women. But I felt that this scene was a great example of the close bonds that men can form.

  • Man... I just love the final scenes with the three of them alone. Love it! & love the show!! They should do a reunion show soon :)

  • Roz screening and twisting the callers is such a superb scene. Makes me laugh everytime :)

  • superb acting!

  • "He's empaphising with the husband: we call this empaphising." LOL

  • Now!!! I just want to DIE!!!!!!!!" xDDDDDDDDDDDDD Oh poor Niles xD

  • "IT'S TINY TALK!"

  • I'd love to play a drinking game where I take a shot every time Martin says 'Oh Jeez!"

  • Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce are without doubt the finest actors to have ever been in a sitcom. Watching them work together is absolute magic.

  • You know, judging by the fact that I have repeatedly hunted down this episode in particular, I would have to say that it is my favorite. The last scene, in the living room and then on the balcony, is one of my favorite bits of comic television.

  • brilliant acting and excellent chemistry -especially at the balcony.. :)

  • "Every Friday evening, Maris spends an hour meditating in our Spirituality Gardens, invariably she comes inside randy as a stoat. Well tonight, she's going to find me, waiting in her bed as randy as a...nother stoat." Lmfao - that has got to be one of the best scenes ever in Frasier!! Makes me howl with laughter everytime!

  • Frasier must be the greatest sitcom ever! It's just so good!

  • Were was this episode when I roke up with my cheeting ex?!??

  • Even in real life, I do not understand why well-to-do men like Niles fall for complete Bitches like "Marice"

  • @emptycell Well, Niles wasn't so rich to begin with. Most of the money is Maris's.

  • Thank god I found this show,it is just compelling television and boy...the acting is incredible from all the main characters, especially from Mr Hyde Pierce in this episode.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • I love the look on Niles' face at 10:10

  • so...where was maris?

  • lol.. Niles said "sposed" (10:24). He must have really been perturbed.

  • @beatz02 and he also said "tamarra" (tomorrow) at 4:06 :S

  • This episode has my favourite concluding scene in the entire run of the show...very funny, and yet I always have to try and suppress a tear or two.

  • loved the ending with the crane boys joking in triumph.

  • I adore Niles :-)

  • i think "randy as a stote" will be my new way of describing situations

  • @magoogles1000 Whenever I see Roz, I become as randy as a stote.

  • I was expecting them to commit suicide by dry diving at the end.

  • Martin has mellowed out so nicely from the first time we see him till now! :-)

  • Martin's smile lights up the room!

  • I love Roz's bit at the beginning with ramping up the problems in call screening.

  • What the hell are you doing you lunatic?! Lmao.

  • This show started when I was 7 or 8 and I watched it because Daphne made me giggle, but honestly now that I think about it, it actually was part of shaping my interest in literature, psychology and philosophy.

  • @kanenite1985 **psychology and Psychiatry

  • What incredible actors on this show.

  • This episode I always hated about the way Roz handled the callers. If I was in their position, I would've said "yeah actually your producer harassed me" and enjoy the resulting cataclysm.

  • Hey..Shankman (the therapist having an affair with Maris) is the same guy that had the affair with Lilith on cheers!!

  • I wonder if Maris and Niles ever did fight about Daphne...

  • @mckenawoowoo

She probably knew for a long time

  • @dunemoonbeam3 Frasier has - notably when he was listening to the tape of his first show on the third anniversary!

  • Poor editing around 7:00...the roses mysteriously disappear off the pillows!

  • This episode features two inconsitencies of the Frasier-Cheers timeline:

    1. Niles says, he is 15 years with Maris (they presumably met in 1983 and it was established that married in 1986), and yet, in season 1 he resents Lilith for snickering on their wedding. Lilith havent started dating Frasier (in Cheers) until late 1987.

    2. Frasier whines about no patient falling in love with him (transference), although in "First temptation of Daphne" he fondly recollects how he had his fair share

  • @CzechMirco my goodness, you are comparing two shoes on completely different feet. It doesn't matter, the point of acting is to make it believable and how many of your past stories have changed slightly in recollection? It's ok, just enjoy the show and quit fussing about silly discrepancies.

  • @CzechMirco stop being so picky....shut up and watch the show ffs

  • @cattyomuppet It may be a difficult concept for you to grasp, but Im capable of pointing those small inconsistencies out AND watching, enjoying (and translating for one of czech TV channels) it at the same time!! :D

  • @CzechMirco Oh please, the show is full of inconsistancies. Look at how many times Frasier's birthday jumps around during the series.

  • @CzechMirco I wonder sometimes if the writers ever thought that 10-plus years later, people like you and I would be sitting here and noticing inconsistencies in the storyline. Not only was the internet total crap in 1998 when this was aired), but DVR wasn't invented -- and who has the time and patience to develop an encyclopedic knowledge of Frasier from VHS tape?

Good call. Just thought I'd add the preceding remark.

  • @CzechMirco Didn't Niles say just a few epis back that the marriage was in its 12th year?

  • @CzechMirco doesn't the first temptation of daphne happen well after this? when he had begun seeing patients occasionally..

  • also...he says 15 years with her..not 15 years married

  • thanx so much for uploading these :)

  • "where would the world be without you brits and your knack for code cracking"......Oh really?! I've got a jolly good mind to tell you! Enigma, yeah that was us. FUCK what what the movies say. You don't need a code to realise Braveheart was a load of wank!!!!

  • Niles can't be in love with Daphne. He's still married to Maris and keeps running to her and splashing stories about her on Daphne's poor face! Hypocrite.

  • I don't get it! I mean, Niles is so in love with Daphne and has this chance to be with her yet still tries to repair his marriage...?? I've never been married and from what I hear it takes time to make one work but it's Maris! Maris compared to Daphne!! Why in hell would he keep trying to make it work with Maris when he finally has a shot with Daphne?? It's clear he still loves Maris but cmon, we all know how deep he's fallen for Daphne!

It's all moot now but still... I don't get earlier Niles.

  • @abracrow1000 Right.Niles can't be in love with Daphne. He's still married to Maris and keeps running to her and splashing stories about her on Daphne's poor face! Hypocrite.

  • @abracrow1000 I think it's the whole thing about he and Maris being snooty and staying high in society and avoiding scandal. Also, he hasn't got the balls to leave her 100% yet because that's just who he is and how controlling she is.

  • @abracrow1000 Earlier Niles is a man who exists purely to be dominated by others. Daphne always represented a purer and more traditional love based relationship. Maris also represents the lifestyle and social circle Niles holds dear until eventually he begins what is really important.

  • Frasier's so warm and caring. I'd love to be one of his patients.

  • I love DHP's delivery in the final scenes, so many times it sounds like he's both laughin and crying.

  • Of all the episodes (and yes I've seen them all) this one I think had one of the best endings.

  • Great ending with the Crane boys together.

  • the last 4 minutes are some of the best in movie history :)

    crane boys... no waiting.

  • No way would he fit into Nile's P.J's !

  • Niles should have beaten the crap out of Shankman. Maybe he did after the scene ended.

  • DHP/ Niles does his "Alone scenes" so perfect/funny

  • This episode is excellent. That final scene has such wonderful camaraderie from all of the Cranes.

  • I think this one is my all time favorite episode... I certainly hit close to home.

  • Comment removed

  • I've just realised - normally in sitcoms there's a character I don't like (most noteably Ross in Friends) but in Frasier, there's no one I don't like (of the main cast)

  • "The words 'crazy glue' comes to mind..."

  • My God, Niles is sexy when he's angry!

But I have to say DHP's acting is outstanding at 17:04 - he looks heartbroken.

  • "15 years with Maris, I end up in bed with her lover" epic lol XD

  • @BelgianDan Martin's face when he said that was hilarious!

  • I love how everyone gets that look on their face whenever Maris is mentioned ("Maris" What kind of name is that anyway). I loved that guy who plays Niles in sleepless and Seattle.

  • Niles just bear one thing in mind - sometimes a marriage is just bad! Doomed! And no amount of discussion will save it! [silence] ...Well, shall we resume?

  • Who ever loves this amazing show = Frasier please add me as a friend and message me

  • "put yourself in my place, I very nearly did!!!" LOL

  • you know, I've had people say they don't like it in comedy programs where it gets all heavy. I don't really agree because I don't mind it, I find it gives depth. There are some instances where I think it's unnecessary. However, with Frasier, don't they always make you feel stronger in some way?! Lightly defused with humour and displays of love and intimacy that seem almost scarily real. Sappy it may sound, but it makes me feel better about life, truly! I love this show.

  • @Dormyr i find frasier amazingly uplifting which some tv shows can really bring me down

  • @Dormyr

It's very uplifting, the only sitcom where you can actually learn things about life. Thanks to the great writers, top notch performances and moments like the last few minutes of this episode that still linger in your mind long after.

So when Niles finally gets Daphne, you feel so happy for them, because of episodes like this whilst we may not remember at the time, have added much more depth to the characters.

  • @Dormyr

I could absolutely not agree more. It makes me feel better about life too.

  • @Dormyr No argument, when the show is as well-written as this. The only disagreement is when a show uses drama as a crutch. Some (not "Frasier"), if the show structure is weak can resort to:

    1. A tender moment

    2. Singing and dancing

    3. Lewd humor

Frasier held a standard of writing that was almost unheard of before or since.

  • @Dormyr i agree with u completely. And even knowing the fact that the relationships among the Crane men has flourished because they see each other more is just a happy feeling, cause that means families can draw closer together. All it takes is effort.

  • @Dormyr they always find something to laugh about. Except for Niles' heart surgery. That was very dramatic and they did it really well

  • The on-ramp to love!

  • Love those three :)

  • as randy as another stoat!

  • It's nice to see Niles finally cracking a joke at Maris's expense.

  • I love the scene at the end, with the crane boys joking and drinking

  • I think niles didnt need to add that he ended up in bed with maris's lover....15 years with maris alone is worth a 1000 booby prizes lol

  • Great episode. Somehow I always feel like in season five the writing on the show starts to get a bit worse (still good, just not as great as the earlier seasons), but this episode is really well done, imho.

  • Poor Niles! I just want to give him a hug <3

  • It's Mr Terrific!

  • Niles should have destroyed Shankman...

  • OK when I watch this back, slightly older, I realize just how amazing DHP was on this show. His emotions for Maris, both good and bad, are so believable and well acted, yet we never see Maris, and more importantly HE never saw Maris. DAMN I miss this show.

  • @epizetousi it's so good he got on the show isn't it?! It was supposed to be Frasier was a single child but the producers saw how much DHP looked like a young Frasier...good move!

  • i really would enjoy listening to frasier's radio show. Listening to all those "tossed salads and scrambled eggs" for a few hours would be quite amusing.

  • I love how Maris had so much character devmelpment each season, and adds to the plot and story, but we never see her

  • 'you're sleeping with my wife and you're giving me permission to be angry ?!?!?'

poor NIles! if that had been me and my SO was sleeping with our therapist who spoke to me like this, i'd be arrested for murder

  • That scene at the end was excellent.

  • As Randy as a stoat ;)

  • @ShanewalesWilliams as randy as another stoat! haha

  • Isn't the actress that plays Janis the same that later plays Kennys wife?

  • thanks!

  • 10:30 niles sounds english

  • "... Now I just want to die!" Poor Niles. He is so sweet, and to be mistreated like that is just not fair. Any girl would be lucky to have someone like him.

  • was maris ever shown in a episode?

  • @par303 nope

  • who whas frasier also married two ??? lillith and ???

  • @jdksesep Nannette Guzman, in season 11 she appears in the episode 'caught in the act' shes a children's entertainer

  • @jdksesep

diane the barmaid from cheers series

  • @jdksesep Yes, as andyhemes mentioned, Frasier was married for a short period of time to Nannette Guzman. She also appears in the episode Don Juan In Hell, although it doesn't appear to be the same actress. I think it's probably because in this episode she represents Frasier's memory of young Nannette. Anyway, Diane is the one that left him at the altar, so he didn't get to marry her.

  • Probably not the best word for it (the situation), but it's awesome. SPOILER ALERT: Because when it all ends, Martin & Niles happily married and Frasier probably finding his true love. Nice to see how it all turned around.

  • @RimostiQ I've already seen the end of the series, but thank you for putting te SPOILER ALERT up there anyway. :) It's nice that some people use YouTube etiquette.

  • Look, everyone! It's Mister Terrific!

(Dr. Schenkman's role on Golden Girls)

  • at 19:40, Martin's hand jerks after Niles' joke while he's pouring a drink

  • aww the ending :D

  • All three Crane wives cheated on their husbands

  • @SCSAZM

yes one of them in every case

  • Didn't Frasier later tell Daphne that many women had fallen in love with him when Daphen asked him about transference when she was jealous of one of Niles' patients?

  • @manaburn yes Frasier did tell daphne that

  • What's surprising is that he later dumps Maris for a different woman. How can a man that looks like that get any woman?

Anyway, I have a hard time believing that Shenkman is a good psychiatrist in any regard - he's actually trying to council Niles during this.

  • Niles almost in tears, 17:12. I went thru this myself (I was married 14 yrs, separated 3 years, then finally divorced) It's a sad moment when you finally give up and let go.

  • "Put yourself in my place"

"I very nearly did!" Haaaaaaha, thank you for uploading all these episodes Paul =)

  • "The heat from her side of the bed!" LOL! Poor Niles... it hurts me to see the "empathizing" scene... "Now, I just want to die." :(

  • 'contemptible bastard' is a phrase that should be used far more often

  • lol, am I the only one who actually felt bad for Niles at 13:10?

  • I love the ending.

  • i love frasier it's a mature sit-com.

  • LMAO at the guy changing his voice:

    Roz: Hey, transexual?

    Guy: That me?

  • I love when the Crane boys share drinking-bonding moments :)

  • as wrendy as a.. a.. nother stoat

  • the end is nice

nice to see niles being a man

  • Yeh, i am one without a date on a Saturday night! Niles, Niles, Niles!!!!

  • love john mahoney's extra laugh after niles' 'the heat from her side of the bed' line

just a tiny touch but that's what sets the great actors apart

and these are three great in that scene

    just a joy to watch

what a great show show frasier was (and is)

and t/y for the 'tube (as always)

  • oops another flaw in storyline!

in another episode they talk about transference and how many they each had

niles had 11 and frasier had 13 i believe haha

  • 19:38 "fifteen years with maris and i end up in bed with her lover" so funny the expression of Martin its even FUNNIER!!!!

  • "We've made quite a catharsis here! Now, traditionally, it is the patients who make the breakthroughs, but we musn't be sticklers."

    Nice damage control, Frasier.

  • Such wonderful acting :)

  • Great episode. Hilarious yet so touching. Funny im watching this on a saturday night just as the crane boys say "well here we are on a saturday night again".

  • This show was/his great, it provides you a great range of emotions, sense of moral and etics, its always a good day for me when i see a Frasier episode, i find it hard to stick to one episode a day, i usualy see about 3.

  • NOW I JUST WANT TO DIE!!!!! Looooool

  • Thank you for putting these episodes up!

  • ahh, this is such a touching episode.

  • Hey thanks for these vids! They are awesome to watch!!! What's the name of the piece that Niles put on?
