you can get the GGW-H20L (the first version) sled from HighTechDealZ (.) com for $80 (the guy's in Texas)

Not sure I understand what you're asking. The red diode (for DVD) contained in this sled is for a DVD writing capability. They're seem to be about as powerful as a diode from the 20x DVD burners, though they look different.
