They found NO circumcision benefit for either bacterial or viral STDs! The study concludes:

My Christian fundamentalist parents had my penis mutilated when I was a baby. I've heard that there are non-surgical techniques to restore the foreskin. I've read a bit about it but I'd like to hear from somebody who actually did it.
@Pillowpants8495 I did a partial "restoration" even though you can't actually restore the foreskin, what it is, is a regrowing of skin of the shaft to create an artificial foreskin. When I said partial, what i mean is, why I am limp I actually have enough skin to cover and protect the glans, however when I am erect, it looks like any other circumcised penis. The benefits of sensitivity are wonderful. I haven't decided if I want to do a full "restoration" though. As it is very time consuming.

It's incredibly hypocritical of Hitchens to chastise the Rabbi about making circumcision jokes when Hitchens himself made jokes about child rape (I'm referring to a little quip Hitchens made elsewhere about "No Child's Behind Left" -- disgusting)

There are records, however, of a substantial amount of deaths (to speak nothing of botched jobs). Hitchens mentions this. In Jewish law it is a rule that if the first two sons die by circumcision then the third need not be circumcised. This means that death by circumcision was common enough to make a rule for it.
@jamiebellwolf Often it is not done right. Some jobs are better than others. Botched circumcisions or just bad circumcisions are not uncommon. All surgery carries risk; that is why it should be done only when absolutely necessary.

With regards to neonatal circumcision, it is considered such a trivial procedure that it is often given to Hospital Residents (medical trainees) to do, sometimes as their first operation, sometimes without proper knowledge. If you are against botched circumcisions then you should be petitioning against such flippant disregard.

@terratrema Actually, this discussion/debate was at the Connecticut Forum - an event in the USA. So it is more than likely that most of the men in the audience were circumcised and most of the women were pro-circumcision. So I don't think the audience was on his side regarding this issue at all; they did, after all, laugh at the Rabbi's joke. (Although, granted, these days American audiences will laugh at anything.) I think that many of them were probably perplexed.

There are records, however, of a substantial amount of deaths (to speak nothing of botched jobs). Hitchens mentions this. In Jewish law it is a rule that if the first two sons die by circumcision then the third need not be circumcised. This means that death by circumcision was common enough to make a rule for it.

With regards to neonatal circumcision, it is considered such a trivial procedure that it is often given to Hospital Residents (medical trainees) to do, sometimes as their first operation, sometimes without proper knowledge. If you are against botched circumcisions then you should be petitioning against such flippant disregard.

Big difference between infant circumcision and adult circumcision. The males sex drive may have been stronger uncircumcised but if thats the point so what? Is that something that should really be a focal point? I mean the circumcised male, Jewish or otherwise, seems to be active enough.
