@BigMrFirebird There's a saying "there's nothing quite like God on earth as a general on a battlefield", and it must be hard for a high-ranking military commander who's used being obeyed without question to enter into politics in a democratic government. The worst he can do to a subordinate who doesn't "toe the line" is fire him. He can't have the fellow stood up in front of a firing squad for his disobedience. I'll bet that was oftentimes frustrating for a man like Wellington.
