what do ya reckon, 2008 HONDA CBR125R or 2006 Cagiva Mito 125, have 5000 and 10000 kms on them respectively, and the honda is 500 more than the mito. australian dollars. trying to pick, i have seen some of the mito videos and from what i can tell it has decent accelaration for a biegginner bike, but i don't know if im too pleased with its sound, little bit tinny. what do you think of the honda for you?

@thiessen35 This bike would be terrible for you, it is far too small, i'm 5' 10" and i think it looks a little small on me, my friend has an aprilia rs125 and he is 6'6, he does look a bit too big for it though, you'll struggle to find a beginner bike that suits your height, you'll need something more like an R6.

By The way, the reason the bike is revving at 3000 when he starts it, is because the fuel injection system first revs up when it's cold, then slowly revs down as it gets warmer, this retard just starts revving it when the fuel injection system is still readying itself!

@pacrat90 I think you mean to say the bike's fast idling at ~2500 rpm to warm up the engine. The fuel injection system isn't readying itself; that's the beauty of fuel injection. Turn the key, start the bike and go. The fuel injection system is ready after the PGM-FI light goes off.

I try to ride my bike gently around the block until the temperature gauge starts to move though, but that's not always practical given how little power it makes. I do believe Honda built the 125R with this in mind.

I get on the highway fine, but if I'm riding with a friend on a faster bike then I might take a while to catch up unless I lead. It's a great commuter, or a first bike. I'd like to move up to a 250 for highways.

@killiandarcy42023 yes there good beginners bikes or for anyone who wants a nice commuter as they have impressive mpg i a cruiser has a lower center of gravity would say these are even easier to ride than a cruiser becuase you are still quite upright and they do not have the foot forward foot controls like on a cruiser style bike .wich tottaly throws out the balance of haveing a low center of gravity. i think i would prefer an old cg 125 compared to one of these tho to be honest

Very low rpm for a Honda and such a small engine, why the 250s hit 13k with a 2 cyl and 19k with a 4 cyl.

@Bulgdoom I think engines with more cylinders can be made to rev higher more easily since there's less vibration. Engines with fewer cylinders make more torque for the same displacement or engine size.

Dangerous, but fun ;) after about a year my parents are gonna upgrade me to a Kawasaki ninja 250cc. Eventually I'll work my way up to more powerful bikes but for now I'm just a begginer :(

mine did 140 kmt on the speedo, not gps (aqbout 135 kmt) and it needed a long road with no headwind

Sweet set of wheels you got there. A piece of advise, dont rev the bike at high RPMs when its cold, its not good for the engine.

Use the high performance petrol you get at your local petrol pump. I use high octane fuel by Shell, it gives more torque at mid-range - the bike gets super nippy. Do try it out :)

nah dude, dont rev a bike that high when cold, it can crack the cylinder casings due to the extreme changes in temperature, let it warm up to normal temp before revving up, keep the revs down when riding for at least 3 minutes too

A CBR125R, top speeds on bikes like these depend on wind, weight of rider, fuel load etc, but someone of average weight (60-70kg), with full tank, should be able to hit about 80 mph (130 kph), though keep it at 55-60 when cruising, the bike will thank you for it
