contra-rotating propellers, interseting, Ive never seen those on a flying wing, do you know if Howard Hughes helped design this? You should see if you can find a video of his Hughes XF-11, its a genious design.
YB-35s had conta-rotating props at first, but gearbox problems caused a change to single props, & alleged sabotage caused more probs. Stuart Symington, Secretary of the Air Force, fought the YB-35 & YB-48 programs, & gave Northrup the choice of merging with the B-36 makers, Consolidated, or wholesale cancellation of both aircraft(was he a Consolidated stockholder?). Jack Northrup refused, & all YB-48s & -35s were destroyed even though Northrup offered to have the A/C converted to passenger use.
"The Horten Brothers flying wing bomber. It was intended to be a '1000' bomber, ie, it was supposed to fly at 1,000kph for up to 1,000kms, carrying up to 1,000kgs of bombs. The wing skins were made of a wood-carbon powder composite that absorbed radar pulses, so it would have been largely invisible on radar. Quite a project, but the war ended before it was fully developed."

The Germans started it during WWII.

They already started it in the 20-ies. The Horten brothers built flying-wing models at that time.
