I actually prefer the finger picks sound, but I always lost mine, so I gave up and now play just like this player, no picks. One of my earliest teachers used to grow his nails lon, in lieu of finer picks.
In this piece the mellowness of the flesh pickin matches well with the equipment bein used, so the absence of finer picks is not detractive.
Fahey used finer picks, heavy strins, and high action, at least in the beginnin. Great combo, great sound, but yougot to have stron hands.
I mean, I don't see a mike anywhere near to the sound hole, yet the sound is very near to the mike, and very resonant. I mean a lack of room noises. Therefore it sounds similar to a pickup.
beautiful, congratulations

I notice you are lookin at the strins. At your level of competence, you shouldn't have to do that. It takes a little extra practice.
Lookin at the strins prevents nerve flow in the spine, and compresses the lungs, heart, and other viscera, harmin the state of health.

O! You de mystery man!
Fahey is supposedly dead, but on one video, there were some suspicious comments and replies by a "former" acquaintance of Fahey's.
I don't know if it was 2 guys "jokin around", or if there was any substance to it.
My feelin is, just 2 guys jokin around.
I lived for a month in Fahey's former childhood home, in the late 60's.
That guitar has pickup?

While I like the sound, I suspect that you are not John Fahey. There is no indication of who you are in the text.
