  • petland should be destroyed or bought out and made into a non-profit that only sold animals from the local shelters (which does destroy it's old structure) like i've said, cities are breeding animals (for places like petland) to replace the ones they murdrer at kill shelters. Make these places distribution points for the aniamls in sheltes to be put back into society. If you can't do that, then at a minimum destroy pet land and let what I described take its place (that's actually better anyhow).

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: dogs cannot be mass produced for profit without puppy mills. If you didn't buy your dog from a shelter or directly from a breeder who allowed you to see his breed stock first hand YOU BOUGHT YOUR DOG FROM A PUPPY MILL and are thus complicit in this cruelty.

  • I went to a Petland and the people didn't know how to care for chameleons at all i bought mine their because he was malnourished and in a glass 10 gallon tank i couldn't stand to see him in their. My mom when we go in there tells the people that are about to buy animals from their all of petlands secrets and 4 out of 5 times they don't get them from their

  • oh!!! omg those poor dogs cramped into those tiny cages like that....never been loved or cared for...why do some of our human beings so CRUEL! thumbs up if you agree!

  • @sweetcakes0130 Some human beings are cruel, the worst part is that they are also misinformed.... This is labeled as a PetLand video, and is 100% not true.... The Humane Society of the United States has kept PetLand under surveillance and has uncovered no violations, or truth to any Puppy mill rumors, people can go on HSUS.com and see that PetLand has never broken any rules, and see that PETA (listed as a non-profit company) has a CEO that makes 4 billion dollars a year...

  • this is horrible, how could we as humans do something this vicious

  • Comment removed

  • They use the "donations" they receive for employee paychecks and personal spending. You can actually dig up information regarding HSUS scams and the false accusations towards Petland. I only know this because I used to work for HSUS.

  • All Petlands are individually owned. The HSUS never had ANY direct proof of any Petland purchasing puppies from puppy mills. When investigated ALL of the claims that HSUS made towards Petland were found untrue. The money HSUS gets from donations does not even go to any shelters.

  • A real tragedy is that PETA, a non-profit organization, has a CEO that makes 4 Billion dollars a year and has his own jet.... How does a non-profit company have a CEO that makes 4 Billion a year? You answer me that question then we can talk...

  • 7% of all puppies owned in the United states come from Pet Stores..... Of the 7% that come from Pet stores, 2.5% of those dogs come from PetLand.... So that means out of 1000 puppies, 70 come from pet stores, and of those 70 that are sold from pet stores 1.75 come from PetLand.... And Petland has adopt a pet programs that help in the prevention of euthanizing pound puppies ..... I think some people need to get their facts straight before posting this nonsense....

  • @NikkoAndCourtney

Thanks a lot that really helped and guided me .And i though about it and realised that ur right i will go and adopt one.

    Thanks.

  • That is ridiculous, i just want bring all these home to my house and take them to the vet :[

  • so were are we suppose to buy pets from? please tell me !! i wanna pet but they told me petland is not safe and dosent keep dogs really good or clean and vakcinated .

  • @105cheerleader ADOPT ONE. that's the only way to know your saving a dog that was abandoned, abused by previous owner or was living on the streets, or just because their previous owner didn't think he was 'cute' and left it in the dog shelter.and if you want to buy a purebreed puppy from a breeder..be sure that it is from a RESPONSABLE breeder that is taking great care for all their dogs!!! and if you wan't to be sure, than the breeder should let you visit their farm to see the parents!!

  • @105cheerleader if not, than he is most probably neglecting them and having them in horrible conditions.

  • @105cheerleader oh and petsmart nor petco are any better, they also neglect their animals which are hamsters, rats, fishes, frogs, guinea pigs etc.

  • I'm completely with you on that, but I was just talking to those people who say how abused the puppies are... Not their parents.

  • care of their animals, so thats why I'm planning on working there. :)

  • @HowlerOfTheWolves I understand where you're coming from. But the focus is not on the "cute, healthy puppies" that you buy from pet stores, it's on the the parents of those puppies who are abused and neglected. When pet stores who get their dogs from puppy mills stop buying from those mills, then the mills have less business and are that much closer to shutting down. Just keep in mind who the real victims are, who have no way of defending themselves.

  • This is sad... But....

Maybe lots of people who worked at petland had no idea where their puppies came from, but the owner did. For all those people saying "Our Petland went out of Business!! :)" Well, think about all the people who lost their jobs, who had families. It wasn't THEIR fault. I'm 13 and I'm going to volunteer at my Petland. Mine didn't shut down, it just took away the puppies. I got two of my puppies from Petland and they are very sweet and healthy. My petland takes very good

  • @HowlerOfTheWolves yeah the puppies might be healthy but are the parents healthy too? nope, they are in cages too small for them being forced to mate, sick,no food, dirty water, and will NEVER get out of there, theres only two solutions for it to stop.1.death, thats the only way for them to get out. they suffer till they die or till they are usless, then they die.2.DON'T BUY FROM A PETSHOP, ADOPT! buying a dog will only leave an empty cage for more dogs to suffer.

  • i worked at petland....lol i got fired, what eva, petland sucks

  • I just bought a GSD from Petland. He is a great puppy. I will admit, I had no idea about these problems before buying, but I am glad that I have my little man. I will love him and give him a wonderful home for the rest of his life.

  • at least these puppies probably went to a better place than these mills... whats wrong with you people. i guess you would rather them just die.

  • @SuperDZproductions The ones not sold are returned to the mill and the owner arranges the dogs to be rescued, this typically happens when there is no use for the dog. Many rescues form relationships with the mills this way, because it's not illegal they can't get them to shut down but this is the small way they can help make awareness and to shut down pet stores.

  • @SuperDZproductions umm, yes they went to a better place but your just leaving an empty cage for more dogs to be neglected. and the parents are the ones who suffer more, they have no chance of leaving the horrible place until they are usless or they die, of illness or hunger.if you wan't to save a dog go to a SHELTER.

  • This is one of the many faces of greed.

  • We had a petland in out mall, it went out of business, I think a lot of them are now, because people are finally realizing the horrible places these puppies come from...

  • I got my yellow lab puppy from PetLand and she is soooo healthy but you never know petland did say some weird stuff to do with her...... oh well

  • No reputable breeder would sell to a pet store

  • Comment removed

  • thats just cruel i want to steal all them and take care of them

  • what people do for a dollar. My heart cries out for these who depend on us.How cruel people can be.

  • I have a 7 month old shih-tu...I baby her so badly...She doesnt even sleep in a cage at night. I cant even imagine doing this to my baby! I always buy my dogs straight from breeders...i say that you should always meet the breeder,go to the breeder's house, and never buy from Pet Stores.

  • Obviously you PETLAND LOVERS didn't watch the show on Animal Planet, where they had ppl undercover PROVING that they buy from puppy mills...you should look it up, they aren't gonna make this shit up, right? Get a clue!

  • @seardeath Okay believe everything you watch on a tv! Go ahead. My family owns a petland and we would never buy from a puppy mill! We love our animals like they are our own pets. I hate animal activist. you ppl dont know facts. oh btw Wayne Pacelle has sent death threats to corporate workers and there familys. haha how humain is that?

  • @ann53090 Yea I agree with you. Im so sick of those people. We at petland actually CHECK these places we buy them from, and they are HOMES of people who have maybe 4 dogs they use for breeding. I admit back then a couple years ago, we petland-ers did not realize where we were getting out puppies, and once the attention was brought to us about where these puppies were from, we changed a lot. AKC got involved. and now our puppies are some of the healthiest around.

  • i work at my local petland and the other one in my city too , and i know 110% we do not get ours from puppy mills !

  • @mrcleansheet, sureeeeee

  • This is horrible! I hate that they can treat animals like this! Like wtf man i dont think you want to be in a cage where you cant even stretch oh wait let me take a shit!! Now im knee high in it and cant move anywhere! Gets me so angry!!!!

  • why did you only use about 3 places/ breeders. why not show the many, many good dog breeders out there too? Oh yes, that would be as shocking and damning as showing the bad apples of the dog breeding world. SHUT UP STUPID!!!

  • We bought our dog from petland. I like petland and will continue to be a customer there. This video just says petland buys them from puppy mills. It has no proof in the video what so ever.

  • God said to Puppy mill owners:

How would you prefer to be tortured?

    burning

    drowning

    being skinned alive?

How about burning while drowning WHILE being skinned alive?

Yes, the 4th one sounds best don't it? You definitely deserve it.

  • Why do people do what they do to these poor dogs! What did the dogs ever do to the people!!!

  • how would you emplyoes at Petland liked to be locked in a very small cage and breed to you die !!!!!

  • @MrRandRAuto .........Again Petland does not support this. I cry everytime I see this slander aganist everything ive known and loved all my life. I have also turned down ppl in adoption cause I too felt they could not provide the right life for that animal. Its in our motto. "Our pet counselors are dedicated in matching the right pet with the right person /or family".

  • @ann53090 I get all my cats at the shelter not at a pet store the ASPCA says if a pet store has puppies do

    not buy anything there!

  • @MrRandRAuto So please tell me {stupid} "Animal extremist" How whould you like to have a romote start on your car because you afaid everyday you will be blown up? Or having to park your car far away so these "extremist" groups dont hurt you or anyone else! I am proud to be apart of petland, an a part of a great experience and joy ppl get when they walk in a play with all of our little critters!

  • @ann53090 um hey im sorry for my sisters rude behavior she can get like that but since im her brother why are you calling her names? No one likes a bully

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not gaining anything lying for them, I'm a tech apprentice for fucks sake. You think I'll be there this time next year? Still, it's insulting to me as a person saying that I'd support that bullshit going on. I've got pets of my own that I care for more than most friends I have. I've stopped adoptions because I've had gut feelings that people were not going to be able to properly care for an animal

  • My family owned a petland for 10 years never bought from these "puppy mills" And My dad still works for corporate. I worked as a pet counslor for a year in college!!! NEVER! The People who support HSUS and that company Have sent death threats to me and my family. My mom and dad had to put a remote starter on there cars because ignorant ppl like all of you are trying to kill us. Now how humane is that?

  • @ann53090 i know same thing with me but as always these damn ignorant people dont bother to know the complete truth...just cuz one or two stores do this that doesnt mean every petland does

  • i will destroy all puppy mills along with their owners.

  • @CL0v3 im with u lets start a riot to puppy mill first we will need alot of people lol but i hate puppy mills so sad :(

  • @CL0v3 wish you could

  • we got are dog from petland and they do care for there animals. we got her and they had worked with her and she can do all kinds of tricks and she is vary obedient!

  • SICK.

  • funny thing is, ive never actually heard of petland..ever....and now im glad i didnt :3

  • My god. Is playing sappy music and showing some horrible imigas from horrible , horribe puppy mills , all it takes to convince people that this is what Petland does. This is the worst type of BS. I am not saying that puppy mills do not exist, but Petland has nothing to do with them. People Think Critically, this is just a Giant lie being told to you.

  • @ChrisPratt23 lol what an idiot

  • I think people shouldn't care where Petland gets their puppies from...but that Petland takes better care of them. The last puppy me and my sister wanted to get, was a bulldog and it's noise was running like a lot, and my mom wouldn't get him. because she said that it was cost more to take care of him then what we paid to buy him.

  • tell me. How hard would it be for these people to JUST TAKE CARE OF THEIR ANIMELS? I mean come on, really? My mom was a dog breeder and we never EVER let the dogs get like that. Every animal that we had was loved and each was given a name and most importantly heath and love. The dog I have now was pretty much a save ssome the puppy mill she came from where she was kept in a 10x10 with her litter mates for 6 months with almost no human contact. We got her at 7 months from someone esle.

  • This is all really sad, but it's all hearsay. Get some sources and references to back up your claims!

(BTW, I'm not saying it's not true, it probably is, but probably isn't good enough to turn someone away from shopping there).

  • Our Petland went out of Business!! :)

  • @daisymaisy66 how sad to see that people are happy for other peoples failures...you sick bastard

  • @daisymaisy66 Think of how many familys are out of a job. Think of there set backs.....ya thumbs up! .....dick.

  • @ann53090 Then people should not associate themselves with a business that is lacking consistent integrity, bitch!!

  • @daisymaisy66 PLEASE.....Tell me how petland is {lacking} "consistent integrity"......I would love to know. My family, Friends....And myself have put our own blood sweat and tears into creating and awesome pet store! What have you done with your life? In my moms petland we treated every pet like they were our friends and babys! We both cried when our favorites went home with a family! How ignorant you dumbasses are for believeing this bullshit!

  • @daisymaisy66 why would u be so happy about it?

  • I am appalled with people that run these puppy mills, I have done rescue in the passed and have seen these puppy mill survivors these are the LUCKY ones.

  • Petzone in dubai is the best! But I don't trust petshops!

  • that is soo sad!

  • beside.. i'd rather have a dog/puppy in need of a good and caring home then some purebreed puppy that was bred for the label of "purebred" and for money to the breeder. i wouldnt mind if companys took dogs from shelters or mills to SAVE them.

  • @ToxicChewingGum SO YOU DON'T KNOW THAT petsamrt and petco take dogs and cats from shelters to

    find homes!

  • @chipethecat petsmart takes CATS from local no kill shelters. i volunteered there to clean the cages and keep the cats company once a week.

  • isn't it better that the puppys are taken out of those terrible puppy mills and put in a store to be bought and become apart of a good family? .. i meant look at breeders, they breed ore and more dogs to make more puppies to gain profits.

    STOP BREEDING.

let the dogs who need a home get adopted from adoption agencies <3

  • @ToxicChewingGum Technically it does get them better homes. But you have to think about the parents of the puppies. The pain they go through.. And when you buy a puppy and you give him a great home that's good in all but you're just giving the puppy mills more profit to breed more.

  • @ToxicChewingGum First off anyone who runs a puppy mill should get the death penalty. 2.) To all the whores out there (men and Women) who dont pay taxes and have 8 kids this is my message to you. STOP BREEDING! Petland buys there puppys from AKC registed breeders! The breeders have to have perfect purebreed blood. Petland also has adopt a pet program.....local vets give petland discounts to worm, vacinate and micro chip the kittys and puppys....WE LOVE OUR ANIMALS!

  • @ann53090 AKC registered does NOT mean well bred. All it means is that someone kept paperwork on who the parents were. It doesn't mean the parents were healthy, were tested for genetic disease, screened for hip dysplasia etc before breeding -- no sooner than age 2 ( for dogs.)

Worming & vaccination is just the very basics. Shelters do that too & often chip as well.

No really good, caring breeder sells to a pet store for their pups/kittens to sit in cages and be sold to anyone with $

  • Uhgg only liscensed breeders should beable to breed dogs. And before they get their liscense they should be investigated and checked up on every month. Its horrible what people do to animals. How would they like to be in a small wire cage with a wire bottom no food water tons of pee and poop everywhere and being bred constantly!

  • @TwoMuskateers you have to be careful of licensed breeders aswell. Many licenced breeders are pieces of shit who shouldn't have dogs. The best thing to do is do your research and i can't state this more references references REFERENCES it's is the best way to make sure your getting a puppy from a proper source :)

  • Poor mommas! Not all kennels are as bad as some, but either way, it's unethical to breed solely for money and not care about the dogs. It's all because people keep them in business by buying puppies, STOP!

  • @Webkinz24Lover the documentary was completely false, couldn't you tell from the quality??? H$U$ was behind it all, Animal P should be ashamed of themselves,,,

  • i cant believe this ugh

  • omg how dare petland i want petland stores to stop imeadltily

  • 2:30 if i happen to see that guy id beat him up

    fking retard

  • its not true

  • @trvrchz It is true, how else do you sell 90 puppys a month? the top 10 grossing petland stores do.

  • This is absolutely the most gruesome thing I've seen in my WHOLE entire life. It disgusts me how Petland can support these fucking losers who treat animals like shit. Dogs have the right to live just like humans do, screw all the workers there/supports that don't know a THING they're doing. PuppyMill supports can go burn in hell and no one would care about them!

  • And to those who work for, or who would protect their local Petland store, take it from me, it's not worth your effort. They treat their employees like shit, you're going to stand up for owner of that store because you get a whole 7.25 an hour, no health care, no paid time off or sick leave? If these institutions weren't on their way toward extinction, because they can hardly turn a profit in the first place, they should be forced against a strict labor and animal rights union.

  • their part, any good business owner would plainly see that bio security is a top priority in any place where you are housing animals that equal profit to you. They are a business, animals should equal profit to them, which is why they should take every reasonable measure to protect their investments.

  • I know of a number of other stories. The point is that these managers, and employees at Petland store are LIARS. They will lie to your face, that's all they have to do to maintain their standing. And the owners of Petland, and the board of trustees, I've met almost all of them, they're just as stupid as the breeders, most all of them have no understanding of pathology. They make feable attempts at maintaining sterile kennels, and just outright ignore my fish, this is more than a moral issue on

  • Yeah totally true, some of these places aren't puppy mills in the traditional sense, but worse. Many of Petlands breeders are backwood retard red neck dumb shit's who have no business breeding dogs because they have no fundamental understanding of biology, genetics, and pathology.

I should know, I've worked a Petland for over 7 years....(exclusively in the fish department).... by ignoring it. The owner of our store sold a husky to a couple two hours after it had a seizure in its kennel.

  • No REPUTABLE BREEDER will EVER sell puppies to ANY pet store... EVER. It is in the bylaws and code of ethics of our National Breed Clubs. Pet Store Puppies come from careless breeders, Backyard Breeders, and Mills. This has been proven over and over again. Period.

  • Alright... way to go...

  • and start taking CARE of their pups and if they are really sick or just sick they should not sell them and send them to a vet immediately.

  • @flippery8382 The truth of the matter is that they can't afford to take appropriate care of their puppies, not just because so many of them are already sick, but these stores carry so much overhead in; electrical, water, heating/cooling, inventory, etc. they order animals and dry goods independently of the larger corporate distribution facilities which Petco employs. The support from their franchise is a joke, the Petland "business advisers" many are former owners of failed stores.

  • @RiffTECK Oh really

because the petland near me is very busy

every time I see petland they are always are SELLING puppies there.

And guess what> I actually got a puppy from petland.

And if they can't afford the puppies then why have them?

  • @flippery8382 Yes absolutely really! The Petland I work for has been in the top 3 highest grossing petlands for the last 5 years running. AND we were store of the year in 2005. It's a very productive sales environment. In fact the volume is such that turn over is so fast that hygenic practicies are glossed over, and pathological risks and bio security are extermely compromised because so many people are allowed to handle the dogs.

  • Even with these types of sales petlands fail to prove as an effecient, productive business model because stores are individually owned, ordering is independently managed, and major whole sale purchasing isn't possible. These businesses pay their employees poorly, and still generally run slim margins that are barely able to keep the stores afloat because of the tremendous amount of over head associated with infastructure, not to mention depreciation, and reinvestment.

  • These stores are continuously becoming run down.....until somebody new buys them, invests a whole bunch, and drives themselves into bankruptcy. Even the 10 highest producing stores in the chain have an average ownership turnover of more than once per 5 years. I'm not trying to be a total dick about it but the fact of the matter is that I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. I've been there, and people have good interaction with petland employees and owners.

  • Some of them are really nice, bright, caring individuals, but for these reasons any tenured employee becomes hardened and learns how ineffecient and futile the Petland business model is. Corporate Petland is really to blame on this one. They sell the business model to buyers without a stable, established, successful, and well calculated plan.

  • The real detractors to the business model is depreciation and a lack of budgeting maintenance and upkeep into the mathmatical model the stores are based upon.

  • There's a show about this on Animal Planet next Monday.

yesterday was national puppy mill awareness day too`

  • I live next to two Petlands and they dont sell puppies or cats they sell food and fish and dog + cat stuff. so you see not ALL petlands are bad .

  • I don't think petland should stop selling puppies or shut down

they can just improve by start getting their puppies from SUITABLE BREEDERS and not make their cages wire at the bottom and put a little comfy blanket and a bed for them.

  • i got a hamster from there then it died 2 days later

  • i bought my dog from there but im notgoing to get another from there any more from that death trap

  • Unfortunately there will always be someone out there buying purebred dogs thus funding the business. If you really care adopt an animal from a shelter, however bashing the Petland name because some of the stores made stupid choices isn't entirely fair.

  • What you have to remember is that Petland is made up of indvidually owned stores. Not every store operates the same way. While I worked for Petland (I took care of the animals in the Kennel.) They sold all sorts of dogs but they were from local breeders who would stop in periodically and check things out. We also set aside room for shelter dogs and cats to be sold there as well. I understand that many stores did not work this way but you can't judge them all the same.

  • @Kabendega That's the fundamental flaw in the way the business operates. They're really not large enough to support themselves as individual owners of these stores. I have toured many of these stores as a former manager of a Petland fish department, I've been to their corporate headquarters in chilicothie ohio, a vast majority of Petland stores are an abomination, and owned and managed by outright morons.

  • @RiffTECK it isnt ture

  • @trvrchz Well I don't know wtf "ture" is or isn't, but what I'm talking about most certainly is true, You should read my previous 6 posts for a comprehensive view of what I'm saying, because I know first hand. I've worked for petland for 7 years, I still work there one day a week.

What's your foundation for objecting? care to elaborate?

  • Adopt a puppy and give even MORE profit to places like that?! People think that they are "rescuing" these puppies but as long as people keep giving their money, they will keep selling puppies. If you want to "rescue' go to your local pound or shelter and if you want a purebred, registered puppy go straight to a breeder and inspect the place yourself. I guarantee you can get a puppy for the same price or less than what they charge at the stores.

  • @joshro78 I volunteer at an animal rescue that adopts out animals through PetSmart pet stores. I just want to clarify that PetSmart gets none of the adoption fees we collect when we adopt out rescued dogs and cats. All of the money is put back into rescuing, for vet care, occasional boarding when a volunteer foster isn't available, etc. They do not charge us a fee for the use of their facilities.

  • First of all show me the proof that the pictures in this video are petland puppies.

Also where is the investigative report backing the statement that 95% come from puppy mills.

Most people dont even know what a puppy mill is just what they hear from the media or friends or whatever. People are so quick to believe what they see and hear on the internet.

If you care so much...GO ADOPT A FUCKIN PUPPY!

  • You Don't no what you are talking about.. It looks like you hav'nt dun your research at all so before you say anything else absurd I would Advise you to take some time and do your own research, because I bet you anything if you walk into a petland near you, the employees that work there are just going to lie to your face just so they can keep on selling and making there big bucks..

  • you know when we bought an American Eskimo puppy they gave us papers and all that of the mom and dads name something like so and so's beauty or something but when I bought a husky years down the road they promised to have the papers sent to me like they did before but never did I wonder if they get half the puppies from breeders and the rest from mills or maybe it used to be breaders then to keep up with more stores from mills?

  • Great job on putting this video together. Petland is a horrible pet store, they all need to be shut down!!!

    BOYCOTT PETLAND!
