You can work and still be homeless in my area to get into even low income housing you must make $1200/month. I make $1000/month and I know of others who live on less. I had to have a co-leaser to get into my apartment. One rent increase for me would put me on the streets. I have almost faced homelessness. I signed a 15 month lease so I would not to have to worry about housing for a while. I am now down to 5 more months on my lease. If something does not change where will I be?

That is so true about hiding away , the police fine and arrest us and Im speaking about Amsterdam and the whole of the Netherlands . Some of us hide and in winter die in the forest or wherever we hide and the bodies are found months later. Its a disgrace to the human race. I also am also homeless . I have no vices but still get rejected for jobs. Its a massive drain on me physically and psychologically.

I experienced homelessness for two and a half years, during that time I met many many homeless working people living in trucks, vans, and cars in truck stops, rest stops, and campgrounds hiding out in out the way places. I have worked several jobs but recieve no child support whatsoever for my two children. I literally begged city hall to refurbish a building for homeless to sell homemade crafts and organic vegetables to help rebuild their lives. steriotypes are the worst enemy of the homeless.

It sucks that manufacturing industry has been outsourced to 3rd world, wouldn't it be great to get housing and access to stable employment, w/o discrimination (e.g. those with 'resume gaps') and housing for that matter w/o landlord discrimination.

A job at Wendys is better than nothing. She could work a shift while her son is in school. The $8/hr times 40 hours a week could go toward rent and all she would need is several roommates to help meet the monthly rent and utilites. Maybe she could find other people like her in the same situation. It is doable.

You say the word homeless and folks thing drugs & alcohol lazy many things but none may apply to every individual. Structurally challenged (SC) may better describe ones situation. There are places in this country that offer affordable housing but there are no jobs in these areas. Investing in renewable energy is a way to hedge against being out in the cold. A man built a solar car that plugs in at night we have ways to cook shower light using solar. Homelessness is a very real, very sad issue. There are people and even families that are homeless; many of them due to no fault of their own. My heart and prayers go out to the homeless. I encourage you to support your local Salvation Army, simply because I know that they do help the homeless.

We started to assist ALL homeless by way of transportation, food, showers etc., in our home. We were arrested while handing out pamphlets, food, water etc., on a very hot summer day.
