You can work and still be homeless in my area to get into even low income housing you must make $1200/month. I make $1000/month and I know of others who live on less. I had to have a co-leaser to get into my apartment. One rent increase for me would put me on the streets. I have almost faced homelessness. I signed a 15 month lease so I would not to have to worry about housing for a while. I am now down to 5 more months on my lease. If something does not change where will I be?
Maybe another Wall Street Trillion $ Bank Bail Out they need it worse than these people, trickle down, . charge these people Global Carbon Tax Fine them $25,000 for not having Harry Reid Health Insurance Plan. hope & change?
That is so true about hiding away , the police fine and arrest us and Im speaking about Amsterdam and the whole of the Netherlands . Some of us hide and in winter die in the forest or wherever we hide and the bodies are found months later. Its a disgrace to the human race. I also am also homeless . I have no vices but still get rejected for jobs. Its a massive drain on me physically and psychologically.
I experienced homelessness for two and a half years, during that time I met many many homeless working people living in trucks, vans, and cars in truck stops, rest stops, and campgrounds hiding out in out the way places. I have worked several jobs but recieve no child support whatsoever for my two children. I literally begged city hall to refurbish a building for homeless to sell homemade crafts and organic vegetables to help rebuild their lives. steriotypes are the worst enemy of the homeless.
It sucks that manufacturing industry has been outsourced to 3rd world, wouldn't it be great to get housing and access to stable employment, w/o discrimination (e.g. those with 'resume gaps') and housing for that matter w/o landlord discrimination.
A job at Wendys is better than nothing. She could work a shift while her son is in school. The $8/hr times 40 hours a week could go toward rent and all she would need is several roommates to help meet the monthly rent and utilites. Maybe she could find other people like her in the same situation. It is doable.
change u goverments, apply the constitution maximas where all of u should be free, happy and have liberty to do things if u anlize this u dont have none of that, this coutry was build with the blood and tears of the american indians the least u can do its no to pay taxes for u property in honor to them ,other wise the next reservations will be all of u together with my homeless brothers.
Meanwhile sponsors help pay athletes millions to PLAY. They then charge everyone else MORE to help support their athlete compensation. Athletes contribute very little to society. They would gladly PLAY for 30 to 40 thousand dollars a year. That would be more in line with what they contribute to society. All your goods would be much cheaper under this scenario.
@cat2002k 500 000 children live on the street of this so called rich country ... this country has nothing to teach the other world untill they deal with the issue of their homeless children!!!
The romans never did like people who cant pay.Still the same today.God Bless ye mrs, take back more houses, give them to the people.A home is everyones right. The law of rome is not the law of God.
Unbelievable...the amount of money spent to jail each homeless person could have gone to a stay at a motel. It just another illustration of Nashville's ignorance and negligence to address a growing problem that will eventually backfire one day.
Cheri's story is like so many of the homeless today - the face of homelessness is changing because women and families with children are now the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.
Check out our video to meet real families that have conquered homelessness in Central Florida.
You say the word homeless and folks thing drugs & alcohol lazy many things but none may apply to every individual. Structurally challenged (SC) may better describe ones situation. Sad to say money is the key and it usually involves large sums of $ to get off the streets b/c there is $ to be made from SC it is a survival situation and in most cases you have fire to survive in urban areas open fire is not allowed we can control fire or glean from the eternal fire the sun learn to harvest it.
There are places in this country that offer affordable housing but there are no jobs in these areas. Investing in renewable energy is a way to hedge against being out in the cold. A man built a solar car that plugs in at night we have ways to cook shower light using solar. Homes can be built from earth with bags domehomes are built for less money quickly and can be insulated with Styrofoam collected from waterways etc we just need permission to do these things codes forbid poverty in a nutshell.
Bill Gates donated close to $100 million to fight AIDS in India. As a percent of his total wealth, this would be comparable to him donating ten cents if he only had $60
Bill Gates and Buffett are real bullshit ! first of all these guys are NOT the richest men in the world, they are frontmen to people like the Rothchilds (can you say 600 trillion ), their supposed wide ranging charity is an attempt to change the deserved perception that the very rich are heartless and greedy .
if you would be homeless onnce you would change your mind. i was for a long time and aquated houses, sleeping in parks in wintertime and under bridges.i wish you will go homeless that night and i will pray for it.
sometimes you don`t get a job if you have no home or you don`t get a home if you have no job...
it is like the fox biting his own tail.the lady here is a great hero and she is absolutly right.poverty begins infront of your door.
Homelessness is a very real, very sad issue. If you go to singeroflove here on youtube you'll see my homeless video "I Found God Today" Or you may be able to see it in the video response section of this page. There are people and even families that are homeless; many of them due to no fault of their own. My heart and prayers go out to the homeless. I encourage you to support your local Salvation Army, simply because I know that they do help the homeless.
its all about timing that could eventually put u out, i'm sure half of these homeless have tried gettin jobs, but have been rejected a dozen times, if u dont understand rejection, than u are as dumb as the dirt on my shoe
Opps, I got that statistic wrong, I said that 37% of the U.S. population (12 million people) lived on or below the poverty line. Those numbers are backwards and incorrect, the correct statistic is:
America is a shameful nation! It can spend billions to help the Jew in Israel kill Palestinians and invade and occupy Iraq but it has hundreds of thousands living without homes. 37% - 12 MILLION PEOPLE - of the U.S. population lives on or below the poverty line.
I feel sorry for all the homeless except for homeless veterans of wars because they went to nations like Iraq to kill and now they are getting their just deserts by getting screwed over by their own government.
war is just business, it is all about money, US sells most of the weapons in the world and the debts, who pay them but we with our taxes and innocent ppl die in wars
stupid soldiers say I am defending my country when politicians don't care about them or their lives
According to Milton Freidman, subsidized housing is a "market distortion". Accessible food and shelter for the have-nots is incompatible with "free markets". That's the driving doctrine today and it's guaranteed to get much worse in the near future. It's not about government incompetence or even callous indifference ... it's worse than that. The prevailing ideology is sociopathic and the rich/poor gap is only growing. The middle class must see this as a symptom of the war against them. Wake up.
lot of homeless seem to have lost there minds in one way or another ,,, if you lose an arm ,,,, well no big deal if you lose your leg well you can live with that ,,, but if you lose your mind,,,, well thats a bad thing to lose ,,,,
After returning from Afghanistan and 30 yrs of U.S. Military service, my wife & I set out to assist Veterans. In doing so, we "discovered" the MASSIVE amounts of homeless we never knew existed. We started to assist ALL homeless by way of transportation, food, showers etc., in our home. We were arrested while handing out pamphlets, food, water etc., on a very hot summer day.
