@tNJippoes Ya, maybe in Aus. but in the US the conservative twats raised a nationwide drinking age to 21 killing off most the clubs with bands. So drink up Johnny before you go to Iraq... oh thats right, you can't.

I still remember the final Falling Joys gig at the Annandale Hotel in 95 or 96. A memorable night for sure and a fitting tribute to a CLASSIC OZ Indy band
hey another class aussie act & song thanks for the upload many good memories form this period we where spoilt for choice in australia with the quality of music like this.
I vividly remember a mate's band playing support to the Joys at The Tote around 1989 - I was mixing them and doing lights, Suzie Higgie approached me after the support set and asked if I'd do the same for the Joys.
Seriously great band - played "You're In A Mess" on-air just tonight, in fact...
I was the featured "mess" character in the vid. Its been 22 years since I did it and this is the first time I've actually seen it. I've only seen the colour reshoot which was made a few years later. So its great to see the Joys at the Hoey in their element before the mainstream clip cancelled this one. Good to see myself too, so long after the event. Great band, great times, great scene.
One of the songs and tthe times of my suicidal depressing teenage years. Still love Aussie music. It was at its most pure 'alternative' edge in the laste 80's early 90's.
I had the good fortune to be given the job of looking after the Joys backstage at a Griffith University Orientation concert in February 1995. They're excellent people as well as a great band, and Suzie Higgie showed the same mix of personal traits that I'm told Deborah Conway also shows her fans - friendly, intelligent, charming, accessible, a class act as a musician and as a person.
I love how well the 'joys material has kept. I remember tours ending at the UniBar and Suzie taking pictures of the crowd and sharing a bottle of champagne out into the crowd.
Not sure about this one. The Falling Joys for me were all about Suzie and the boys in the background. Falling Joys, Glide, Clouds and You Am I helped shape me as a person when I saw 'em live in the heady days of pre-pokie Sydney pub rock.
A riveting 80s song in any company.

one of my favourite bands from the 80s and 90's. Along with The Clouds, Juliana Hatfield, THe Breeders, Kirsten Hersch, Belly...

@nayf001,
I agree 100%! I have all of their albums on cassette in a box in a cupboard. I will have to drag them out and have a listen!

My fave Falling Joys song. I never knew there was a film clip for it. I saw their last ever gig at The Annandale and they didn't play this!

The guitar is so 'Freak Scene' ... Dinosaur Jr (if I'm right). Mind you, there's worse bands to be influenced by. Thanks for posting - Jimbo

Definitely a similar chord progression. Although the two singles were released only a couple of months apart, so direct plagiarism seems unlikely.
