DAMN, this soundtrack is beyond words. Notice how at 2:20, there are 4 (!!) melodies playing at the same time, and yet they match perfectly!

2:20 And finally, the fourth theme.

The work and effort that John Powell put into things like this this is just incredible. Definitely some of the best music ever written for film.

@YumnaBaqai How about that set precedence are not always true. Example: A lot of people would agree that most if not all animals don't think / have emotions. My favorite part of this video is that the villagers go out of their way to burn the "dragons are evil and will attack & kill for no reason without provocation!" ideal into your mind. People do the same thing with animals in reality and in both cases they are/were wrong. There are many amazing themes in this movie & that's why it's so good.

@Leidachinaman Yes I know I was just kidding up there...I love this movie because of its great theme. The best part of the movie was the beginning and the end, you remember how it started? "While some places have mice or mosquitos, we have dragons" and it the end, the entire view of dragons changed, "While some places have ponies and parrots, we have dragons." I mean, it tells you to think before you do something and just not follow it cz everyone else does.

@Leidachinaman and also, I am glad that I am not one of those people who think that animals dont have feelings, I used to have a cat, rabbit, turtle, parrots, ducks as my pets and I would know when they feel happy and sad...cats can actually cry!...In short, of course animals have feelings...they are not just things, they are living too =) This movie is well scripted and has wonderful themes, not only for kids but also adults =)

This holds the place as my favorite animated film soundtrack and favorite animated film from Dreamworks.

Then again, nothing Dreamworks has done has been really original since Shrek because they've been reusing the Shrek formula... but they're getting better lately.

This score is so rewarding to the listener, because it's so detailed and relevant to what's going on in the movie. The way the main "flying theme" starts to emerge at 2:16 and build up at 2:20, when it looks like Hiccup and Toothless are finally soaring, only to switch back to "Hiccup's learning/discovering theme" at 2:32 when the tie snaps and they crash back into the forest, as if to say, "You're so close, but not quite there yet."

Truly amazing. I notice something new every time I hear it.
