  • why can't my city be so cool : ( ?

  • Couldn't help but notice that at 0:25 Toronto and Calgary were omitted from the list of best cities. I believe that they are both in the top 5 in the world.

  • @vistarox Toronto was listed #15 and Calgary was not in the top 15 in world, unfortunately.

  • @sapiencefilm I guess it depends on what survey you look at. But I remember the CBC running a story a story a few months ago about how Canadian cities dominated the top 5 list. I believe that Vancouver was #1, Toronto was #4 and Calgary was #5.

  • The animation was amazing, but the audio had a lot of echo. A boom microphone would've helped.

  • plz make a tutorial

  • my future city.. .see yah in 2013.. .!!!VANCOUVER!!!

  • nice.....

  • Hi who made this video? We need one done for our website RecycleDispatchDOTcom please call us at 800-730-6403 or email us through YouTube. Thanks!

  • very nice motion graphics but you have problems with the audio.

  • This makes me: 1.Want to move to Vancouver and

    2. Learn how to use this awesome piece of software, the video is amazing :)

  • Yes, in urban areas, like New York, it would be quicker to bike. But things are so close together you might as well walk. But its also not fast enough to make it actually worth it. Most of the world would rather sit in an air-conditioned taxi for 20 minutes than bike around in the hot sun. That is indubitable. Why should anyone sacrifice their comfort? And you are still a complete moron if you don't see the flaws in only trading locally.

  • @FangsUpCobraFans I don't think you see the bigger picture here. People shoulkd start seeing long-term. IF you insist on your COMFORTS, one day, we will no longer have the environment to enjoy them. Do you think the next generation will enjoy the comforts that you speak if our planet is already inhabitable? I do believe that we don't need to go to extremes like those that you are are saying. Simple acts should work if everyone will do their parts.

  • I wish Des Moines would do the same.

  • Frankly some of these are ideas sound like going back in time. Walk and bike everywhere? Stop importing goods? The reason no one is doing anything is because it's too much work. Make electric cars cheap, available, and worth it, and then you'll see a change. Motivation isn't going to get anyone anywhere. Inventions will

  • @FangsUpCobraFans YES! You are so right! Why would you want to ride a bike?! It's like, SOO stoopid! It would mean less cars on the road, less pollutants in the air, lower dependence on fossil fuel, less noise pollution and exercise all at the same time. That's old and dumb!

Can't wait for those electric machines that are going to exercise our fat bodies for us!

And free trade has done wonders for the US economy, let's double-down there because we also get bonus shipping pollution, YIPPEEE!

  • @rcurren69 Your sarcasm is very draining. It is completely ridiculous to think that getting rid of cars would make anyones life better. Globalization is progress. I live a half hour away from school, driving. Do you expect me to bike that everyday? Should people sacrifice hygiene and show up to a party sweaty? There's a time and place for exercise. If your fat it isn't a cars fault, it's your fat selfs fault.

  • @rcurren69 And I'm sorry are you four? Do you suppose that secluding everyone to local economies is going to HELP this economy?

  • @FangsUpCobraFans...and on your point about the commute I had a 30 minute car commute that was 35 by bike, and wasn't even all urban. You may live in a rural setting where a bike commute would be very difficult, but again, it's not all or nothing. And no I don't expect people to work 8-10 hours drenched in their own sweat, but many workplaces and schools have showers for that.

And your comment about age makes it seem as if you are four. But I guess that happens when your case is full of holes.

  • @rcurren69 I fail to see any holes in my logic. I find you to be very naive to think that a HAPPY world can exist where everyone must shower twice a day, bicycle everywhere, and still function properly. How do you suppose we should travel across oceans? Swim? And I don't know how fast you can bike, but generally speaking, driving a car is ALWAYS faster. There is a reason people buy them. Should we get rid of computers because libraries are just as useful?

  • @FangsUpCobraFans I know you don't see the holes, but you should. You either can't or won't read...I NEVER SAID EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO THIS. Only that it can be done in many cases. And you are absolutely wrong that driving in a car is always faster. In urban centers with traffic, lights and parking biking is almost always faster. Why do you think there are bike messengers? It's because it's more faster, dumbass.

And equating bikes to libraries and cars to computers is simply asinine.

  • Thank you City of Vanocouver!

  • Vancouver is not that great...

  • @fluffyiscute111 It is pretty awesome compared to some other places I've lived in. Well, there's always room for improvement!

  • cool graphics, but its message is all light fluff,

  • Thanks for setting the example. I'd like to live in a world where I'm not constantley picking up trash and watching the air around me become polluted. What can I do to help? I'm 13. But I have ideas.

  • This looks amazin!!! What software did you guys use to make this?

  • @wallysaruman We use Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop for the artwork and Adobe After Effects for all the animation.

    Thanks for your question!

  • i hope this campaign reaches out to the whole world..

  • 2 people obviousl- SHUT UP!

  • love it so much :)

  • I would want 2 move ther but i dont like earthquakes

  • Thumbs up for Vancouver. Hope your message is heard by the world and your example of a true modern city will take on.

  • This makes me proud to be a Vancouverite

  • The problem with producing food locally is that food is importet from abroad not just by accident. People prefer it, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. So the only way to localize foodproduction is to continually fine and tax people indefinetly.

  • Nice. I'd love to see a working vertical farm, which would be great in a city that doesn't have farmable weather year round.

  • This makes me want to move to Vancouver. :)

  • yes! finally a video which talks good sense about climate change =)

  • Sounds like a plan, but I'm from Toronto :\

  • @Paool3107 And I'm from the maritimes, but hey, one country, one world, one species. You could have an idea that starts a revolution ^_^

  • as much as i like the idea of local food, you must realize how much that limits a person's diet? especially for someone with a dietry restriction, such as coeliac or being a veagan. The selection of produce that could be grown in a climate like canada is not enough. Yes, you may argue that people used to survive just fine, or that some people just eat what they can get, but not healthily or comfortable

  • @hamsterinthehat as I'm sure you witnessed during the Olympics, Vancouver doesn't share in a "typical Canadian winter", we rarely see snow in the city, much less dip below freezing and the surrounding area has the longest growing season in the country at around 7 months. Certainly there are foods we cannot or don't grow here - such as rice (handy for the celiacs) - but we certainly have no reason to import so much produce with the Okanagan valley just up the road.

  • @hamsterinthehat beyond simply cutting down on imported foods we as Vancouverites and indeed the world should begin to change our diets to be in tune with the season. We have been spoiled eating strawberries and watermelons in the winter, when they are not in season here. There is no reason that we can't shift our diets to 'winter veg' and root veg outside of growing season and fruits like apples that store, and enjoy the fresh BC cherries and other produce come summer.

  • @nicksutherby I've been doing that since forever since it's cheaper that way. =D

  • last!!!

  • not first
