Excellent action choreography, cinematic visuals, innovative (at least it's interesting, polished if not unique) camerawork. If Ryuhei Kitamura was able to do so much on a low budget for Versus-Imagine what he could do if funded like a Hollywood director with a fat studio budget like between $70-$100 Million.

I own the Ultimate versus, but I did see the original theatrical cut now there is quite a lot of differences between that one and the Ultimate version, mostly just added scenes, but I was wondering do the Director's cut and Ultimate differ? or is Ultimate essentially the directors cut with a few more scenes and changed music.

i have both the director's cut and the ultimate version both are awesome and i heard that kitamura begun writing a script for a american remake i not really sure if this is sure. but so far i haven't heard anything about a sequel but his first american movie midnight meat train comes out 2008 so that autta be really cool

In the commentary for the Special Edition dvd(2003), the version i got, Kitamura says he wants to make another Versus, whether a remake or sequel he didn't specify. He said he would want to make it in maybe 4 years. 03+4years=07. So maybe later this year or next a new Versus might come out. BTW at 1:42 is that a deleted scene? I've seen the movie a ton of times and dont remember ever seeing that.

the name of the song is diary of jane by breaking benjamin and i bought my copy of the dvd from ebay if you haven't seen the movie yet, i suggest you do, if you already have i think we can both agree that ryuhei kitamura the director did an awesome job as always, so i hope this helps you can probably pick up a copy at best buy for 24.99 being that it is the ultimate 3 disc version of it which is well worth the 24 buck in my opinion, hope this helps thanks for the comment also

cool, looks like a really good movie. and thankfully the camera angles and stuff are well exicuted. most asian films have horrible camera shots. very shaky and changing agles too fast. a perfect example of that would be the jet li movie " black mask ". just watching it gives you a headache and ADD from the crazy camera shots.

Midnight Meat Train just began shooting a couple weeks ago, my guess with the shoot, post production it's not going to be released until probably another six or seven months. But for Versus 2 i don't know when he is going to do it. But if midnight meat train is a success in the states, kitamura might stick around in america for a while and will probably go back to japan if he plans on doing versus 2, which i hope he does, but it'll be great to see what american projects he does first
