I've had one of these for almost a year now and am totally amazed at what it can do with a shredding (mulching) blade on it. I am cutting head high gorse (an invasive prickly woody plant) down to the ground and can handle stems up to an inch thick with ease and can get through solid wood stems up to 4 inches by nudging a few times from the side. Have found blades last a lot longer if you don't let them develop full rpm - full throttle and up in revs but working hard.

I've got one of these but when mine is ticking over at about the same RPM, my blade is still spinning, do you think it's the clutch?

We cannot get fs 450 standard length in US anymore, they only come FS 450 K (short) for forestry operations. I'm hanging onto my FS 450 regular.
