  • Thanks, this is the easiest way i've seen

  • Best explanation of the style of tying I've found. Its like origami, not just a knot. I think it would show up better on screen with a lighter color belt though.

  • kereen... sip!

  • ah,, thx,,, finally i know how to tie it correctly

  • thanks man, now the belt will stay on my body :D

  • Oooooooo!! cant wait to try this! =D

  • Thanks man. Just got my yellow in jujutsu, tonight will be the first time my belt is done right. Thanks again.

  • Very nice way to tie a thick and hard black belt!!! Good for you being so thin.. I'm quite fat and cannot look down to see what I'm doing with my bloody belt!!!!! All the best, thanks for your video.

  • Aikido could very well be used in a fight and cause great harm, but the creator, Morihei Ueshiba having studied all the other forms decided to create Aikido as a way of fending of an attacker and also protecting the attacker from injury. Some criticize it because of that, but believe me when I tell you that my Sensei would make a believer out of you very quickly. Not every type of self-defense need be broken necks, arms and blood everywhere to be a worthy martial art. Life is not a movie.

  • @slamdancer1

I recently started aikido; I doubt I could ever use it in a real life struggle unless I was extremely talented at it.

Because instead of blocking and punching the attacker, you have to actually flow in with the enemies attack. You need extremely fast reflexes and no fear to able to do that.

  • I should have been a bit more informative about the subject of using Aikido in a fight. True, as it is being performed now, depending on the group it is more of a controlled exhibition, but still, knowing how to turn, block, sidestep and in general keep one step ahead of the attacker, sure can help in a fight. In Aikido it is thought that injury=failure. It is there to learn how to control your own self and flow with another...cooperation. I stand somewhat corrected, but truly believe it it.

  • @slamdancer1 Well said, O' Sensei was a Buddhist and they tend to be pacifists(or at least O'Sensei) thats why Aikido isn't meant to harm an attacker, if it is done correctly, niether the Nage or Uke should feel any real pain

  • @slamdancer1 You my friend are scholar and that was almost poetic the way you composed that message. I myself practice aikido as well and it makes me proud to hear that others feel this way about the art.

  • @SLINGSTATIC How cool it this?...Just tonight we tested for our next levels, I come home and find a message from you. Had a friend record if for me and it is surprising the difference in how we imagine our stance, extension and so to be, and then I watch the video...man, I have so far to go before I will feel like I really know what I am doing!

  • Woah! Towards the end, how the knot was made kind of surprised me. Didn't think you could do it like that. Nice vid.

  • I don't believe in aikido.. but this is the best way to tie a belt if you are wrestling- it will stay on. And it looks esthetically correct.

  • Glad you like this way of tying a belt Matismatt.

I would, however, just like to assure you that Aikido does exist. I've been studying it for several years now, alongside some of my good friends (who have also been training for a number of years).

The toothfairy, on the other hand...?

    ;-)

  • Ok, let me correct myself. No disrespect. I did not say "exist". I do not believe Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause or God exist. I do believe Aikido exists, I do not believe it is practical in the fight.

  • I know, apologies Matismatt, simply couldn't resist a little gentle ribbing.

All the best in your endeavors.

  • You sound like very polite and knowledgeable person. Excepted ;-)

  • @Matismatt No shit aikido isn't practical in a fight. It's not a fighting style, dipshit.

  • @chinderr What's with swearing, young man? And if it is not a fighting style, what their movements try to achieve, perfect soprano or colliding particles in accelerator?

  • @chinderr But like I said, it IS practical. You can stop fighting moves with defensive action causing shock and warning pain rather than be a fool and harm the attacker in many cases.

  • @Matismatt Aikido is actually one of the MOST practical during a fight! I am really surprised you think that way. Arts like taekwondo and such are rather offensive and provoke a fight while Aikido is defensive and will help avoid authoritative trouble in a fight, as well as giving you the upper hand with minimal effort. Do your homework.

  • @nEOspOr1n Before telling me to do my homework, answer 1 question. Ever seen aikido in MMA? And don't give me the BS like true masters don't need to fight, aikido for the spirit, or it is too lethal to use in the fight. I rest my case

  • @Matismatt ahh, you remind me of my friend, he keeps on saying aikido is B.S untill he challenged my classmate (aikido class) to a little fight, i saw him flying around :)

  • @MrRichard911 Challenge to a fight or aikido "demonstration"? Because so far I've seen tons of aikido "demonstrations" and never even a little fight.

  • @Matismatt hahaha????

  • @CheetaReborn Highly impractical and ineffective in the real fight. Also, I hope you agree that an objective in Judo(modified Jiu-Jitsu) is far from punching. Judo can be and has been tested in fights over and over again. Can you say the same about Aikido? And I am tired of lame excuses like "touch can kill" or "it is a spiritual discipline"

  • @Matismatt I'm sorry if this seems like a cop out but look at it this way, its a martial art taught to japaneese police. And its widley practiced in Japan and the United States. You can argue as much as you'd like with me but theres clearly something to it when you have 1.5 million + people practicing it world wide. I realize Judo probabaly has equal or better popularity but, most people who practice judo, quit due to injury. Aikido can be practiced from childhood to senility.

  • @CheetaReborn Billions of people believe in different Gods. Millions deny evolution. Billions in astrology. Millions practice voodoo, palm reading, and witchcraft. Majority of children believe in Santa. No matter how many people "study" it, that will not become more convincing. I prefer to look at things realistically. And aikido did not "strike" me as something proven to work so far. Sorry.

  • @Matismatt Alright, I'm done aruging with you. We can continue this for the next 5 weeks, your not going to change my mind, I probabaly won't change your mind.

  • @Matismatt that's what i thought the first time i was present at an aikido practice: "this is stupid". But i've been training for less than two months and trust me, it's simply amazing... I know it's a very short time to have an opinion, but what i've seen have convinced me

The fact that it's simply a defending martial art doesn't have to do with it..

  • @kft4v92 Then wouldn't it be more logical to practice amazing yoga, amazing ballet, or amazing gymnastics which do NOT claim to be "martial" arts? You can admire the beauty of dance movements without attempt to use it in construction work.

  • @Matismatt oh boy another athiest =l

  • @Arthos455 Why, thank you! I do use logic! I AM an atheist!

  • @Matismatt ya a bad one i have 3 friends that are atheist and they dont go around telling god isnt real they still go to church with their familys and pray because maybe they are wrong. I just wish more atheist are like them.

  • @Arthos455 Wait a minute! So the good atheists are ones who go to church and pray to God?))) I don't think you understand the meaning of the word!!!

  • @Matismatt no they go because they RESPECT there familys opinion and friends they dont beleive but still go.

  • @Arthos455 But you called me a bad atheist, because I don't go to church and don't pray to god. Which makes no sense. Why don't you apply your own logic and RESPECT other people opinion, read and understand something besides bible, and stop being angry at people who are capable of thinking for themselves.

  • @Matismatt i not meaning BAD in that way i mean you shouldent go around telling people he dosent exist

  • @Arthos455 Why? You do go around, telling people he does?!!!

  • @Matismatt when did i tell him he does i just said i believed in him and no one can take it away

  • Thanks you ! was a great idea to make a video like this one ¨!

  • Your very welcome diloulou...glad you found it useful.

  • I will tied it like this but i need a black belt first xD

  • I tie my belt this way. What I like about it, is that the night is "flat" and more comfortable than the traditional way. You don't even have to tug on it tightly to make it stay in place.

  • Thank you. It helps a lot.. ^^

  • thats not how we do in the aikido in norway:) we got the skandiknavian sensi:) he says that is wrong:)

  • its just a knot in a belt,,,,,grow up

  • It's a good video, but what if you are a larger person and don't have enough belt for this method?

  • The larger chaps at our club simply have longer belts (I think you can get them up to 320cm long).

Failing that, I'm afraid I don't know of another method...can anyone else help?

  • train harder and drop the weight?

  • my sensi is pretty round in the mid section. he has a larger belt. yu should try tho get a bigger one. or simply do the first tucks and leave it at that.

  • is ist important that is the logo on the right leg, i had done it before on the left.... ??????

  • Hi Hofi1991,

I don't know how important it is to have the logo on the left that was just the way I was shown.

  • ...sorry, I mean on the right.

  • ok i´m going to ask my sensei :-)

    thank you

  • ohhh thank you!

  • It´s a goob video

  • but it´s very similar at other one, where I see the other one?
