  • I don't think the tea party movement was the right way to go because are generation is Stubbrin, but it should have been the Homeschool Movement that's the future and the rite direction Amen to myself.

  • I know I couldn't do it. If I could, I don't think I would. I do';t really agree with it But - my hat's off to anyone who has the kind of patience and dedication required! What an enormous undertaking! Being a mother is a huge job; to take on the job of teacher as well is pretty much beyond my comprehension. So I can only have tremendous respect for you!

  • I praise God for mom's who make the sacrifice of their time and energies to hometeach.School's no longer are teaching critical thinking skill's but are indocrinating schoolchildren. Our kid's can talk 'social justice and alternative lifestyles but can not add nor read or write. Our public school's have flunked miserably in promoting academic skill's.And comeon.regardless of your personal belief's,teaching beastiality to children is indecent and foul.(yes schools are now teaching this)

  • not all but most home schooling kids can grow up to be such snobs and then they send their kids to homeschooling too and look down on all the public schools.

  • @AAAfansite Actually, I've met lots of homeschooled adults who choose not to homeschool their own kids. I think homeschooling is more about teaching kids to think and make their own opinions. Yes, there are snobs, but public schools don't exactly have that problem solved...

  • This video bought tears to my eyes. It is a shame that there is such ignorant attitudes towards homechooling out there. I have only been home schooling for a number of months but have already seen major changes in my child. My son is highly intelligent and advanced in most subjects for his age. He learns subjects not taught in school ie. marine biology and excells at it. He recieves socialization at the park, library, trampolining club, messy church, the gym etc. So why the negativity?!

  • The government does not want you to home school your children because they will not then be indoctrinated into the New World Order. Look up agenda 21, research the history of the deliberate dumbing down of America. Discover the truth about the UN United Nations. Form your own thoughts and opinions based on what you find and then decide if home schooling YOUR child is so terrible.

  • Bloddrake, you state: "Lack of socialization with peers of different ethnic and religious backgrounds" as a con of homeschooling. Are you implying that only one race and religion of people homeschool? My sons have always had friends of varying ethnicity, friends who were Christian, Jewish, Catholic, Atheist, Baptist, and Muslim. You also state: "Inadequate standards of academic quality and comprehensiveness." I believe you are mistaken and you are referring to the average public school.

  • i was home schooled for the first seven years of my education, and then placed in a public school.

all i have to say is that the home is a much safer environment than the public school, both physically and emotionally. although our school was a nationally-recognized "blue ribbon" school, we still had fights. we had disrespectful students hindering the learning of good students.

emotionally, being surrounded by students with mainstream views on sex made me feel ashamed about my body.

  • Judgement stems from ignorance. For the most part, homeschooling works! Many studies over the last few years have established the academic excellence and social dexterity of homeschooled children. Here's just ONE of the many sources: hslda.org/research/default.asp

  • Oh my goodness! Of course homeschooling is bad for children. They get such better educations at public schools....

  • @Wishes591 Yes, they get more education about sex, drugs, and gangs. Oh, wait, those aren't things I want my kids to get an education on.

  • (jacksonvillehomeschoolkids.yolasite.com/socialization-of-home-vs-public-educated-children.php)

  • Brought a tear to my eye, because I agree...:) I like being an "ignorant" homeschool Mom...

And to others who question where the studies are that show that not only are home educated children above their peers in academic--but also in social skills, and being SOUGHT AFTER from colleges, including Ivy colleges, here is a link to my thesis paper. It sites the research studies.

  • Thanks for the reminder :-)

  • One nephew on his way to Stamford!!!!!! The other on his second year at Yale!!!!!!

They were HOME SCHOOLED all the way to High School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Perfect scores on their SAT

  • I have both in my family. I am the youngest of seven, SEVEN GIRLS, and my four eldest sisters were public schooled their whole life, and then the 5th girl decided that she didn't want to go to school any more and that she wanted to be homeschooled when she was about in 3rd or 4th grade. So my mom homeschooled us last three. I may be behind in math, but I can excell in many other things :) We travel while others are in school, and I learn so much just by jumping around from place to place :)

  • Great video!

  • I see why bloddrake gets a pounding in the comments as you only allow certain ones to be posted. If you think your position is unassailable then why are you censoring? You did not bother to mention science education as I feel many people who homeschool do it to further indoctrinate their kids into religious extremism. That may not be the case with you but it is with others. If you dont think its a problem ask yourself why was the middle east a mecca for science and reason but no longer is.

  • @EarlFaulk Not censoring...just have other things to do besides approve YT comments. :o) Didn't mention science because I wanted the video to be short. I have a B.S. in Biology. And please don't think that by sending kids to public school that they're not being indoctrinated. Just not of a conservative religious nature...

  • As a physician I feel I can direct my children better in their education than any school. My wife is also in the medical field and has chosen to stay home to guide our children in their educational pursuit. Our children are intelligent and well socialized. They have a well rounded education and we spend extra time pursuing the areas in which they are gifted.

Bottom line - NO ONE has as much interest in my children's well being and education as does their mother & father.

  • Homeschooler often are better educated....I know quite a few high school graduates who cannot read vary well. My Daughter is homeschooled and has been reading since she was 5 and now at 6 reads better then many second graders and even better then some of the third graders I know...She is leaps and bounds above children her age...Both academically and socially.

May I also add that even when I choose NOT to send my kids to public school my taxes are still going there....

  • Lots of people bag on homeschooling...but in the end, the FAMILY is responsible for education, not the GOVERNMENT.

    Good work.

  • @Bloddrake What statistics are you even looking at. Homeschoolers are by far "killing" their private school competition in testing and are now being personally sought out by IVY league schools. So now that we can prove a superior education to their public school counterparts- socialization is the issue. Talk to any teacher where your kids are "talking" in class and then they are NOT there to socialize...So which one is it.... My kids attend a co-op. Last, who are you to decide religious extreme

  • I am the proud aunt of 3, very well adjusted homeschool kids. They have achieved highly in college (having achieved 1 year of college credits before graduating from HS), have lots of friends and interests and in no way did homeschooling make them "strange", "closed-off" or "oblivious" to the world. My sister decided to homeschool cause my brother was in the military & required moving every 2-3 years & each time the kids were either ahead or behind of their classmates. Thanks 4 sharing!

  • Pros of Home Schooling

    1. High standards of quality of education, home schools are usually 1-2 grades above their public schools peers.

    2. Save environment (drugs, gangs, teen pregnancy is a big problem at the public schools)

    3. Teaching material with values for life (unlike public schools who are centers of Communist indoctrination)

    4. Private tutoring by teachers that knows the student personality.

    5. Individualized teaching techniques customized to the student needs.

  • @garciadelacadena

    3. Teaching material with values for life (unlike public schools who are centers of Communist indoctrination)

    LMAO, biased much?

  • The cons of Homeschooling

Inadequate standards of academic quality and comprehensiveness.

    Reduced funding for public schools.

Lack of socialization with peers of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The potential for development of religious or social extremism.

Children sheltered from mainstream society, or denied opportunities that are their right, such as social development.

Potential for development of parallel societies that do not fit into standards of citizenship and the community.

  • @Bloddrake I understand your concerns, but believe they're founded on a lack of knowing an average homeschool family. Yes, some parents use homeschooling as a venue to control & even harm their kids, but is it the result of homeschooling OR the result of parents with some serious mental disorders? All the points you share (except #2) can apply to kids in public schools, too. Remember Columbine and Jonesboro, AR, among others. Thanks 4 your input, you bring up some good points.

  • @BarefootSusanW

I have to laugh at how weak the objections to homeschooling are. 2/3rd of Bloddrake's concern are about socialization. In my area, there are a lot of home schools and chartered schools. These groups set up a lot of socialization (regardless of religion and ethnic background) and I don't see any of these reasons as a compelling reason not to home school.

On the contrary, I recently read an article about how home schooled children do better in math and reading.

  • @BarefootSusanW do you teach real science or exclude things like evolution or an old earth? that would be my main issue with home schooling is if parents take out things they disagree with because of religious or other reasons even if what they take out is supported by the evidence

  • @wearestarstuffsagan Yes, we teach our kids about other topics we don't necessarily believe in. I want them to be educated, not indoctrinated, and to allow them to know WHY some people believe certain ways. And we are a Christian family.

  • @BarefootSusanW 75% of the homeschooled children are evangelical christians!

Chances are they won't be able to get to know other beliefs and make their own religious choice...

Which in my opinion is sad.

  • @davidthmovies You're right! But those children will one day leave home and then their beliefs will be put to the test. The adult child will have every opportunity to get to know other beliefs. I was raised in a nonreligious home, but always allowed to explore belief systems. When I went to college, I became a Christian in spite of my upbringing. Each person's faith HAS to be their own...not what parents have passed down.

  • @Bloddrake

What did you do? Find a list online and Post it just because you choose not to agree with homeschooling?

Public Schools are FAILING, its a FACT.

  • @Bloddrake Don't know about any of that, but what I do know is, is that Ivy league schools around the country, and indeed, the likes of Oxford and Cambridge here in Britain, actively seek out home-schooled kids to join them in their universities. Why? They know these kids are far more advanced than than their publicly schooled contemporaries. Statistical fact.

  • @Bloddrake As for poor social skills, home schooled kids tend to be the MOST sociable, because they tend to be exposed to all age groups, i.e. people of all types of intelligence and wisdom. By doing so, their mental development far exceeds anyone in public school (i.e. kids who socialise with kids only). Practical example - someone who wants to learn kung fu doesnt go to someone of the same level, he has to go to a teacher, someone greater than him. Similarly with schooling.

  • @Bloddrake

These alleged cons are the result of ignorance of the facts:

1 Homeschooled students ALWAYS outperform public and private schooled kids.

    2 Who cares ?

    3. research (google Brian Ray) proves this wrong.

    4.You sound like Stalin

    5.See 3.

    6. Again you sound like a communist

  • @Bloddrake The Cons of Public Schooling High student-teacher ratio Less independent children Bus rides that are often long and cos the tax payers millions of dollars. Anti religion and socialism taught in the classroom Greedy Administrators Drugs and Achohol To much emphasis on standardized testing No school or curriculum choice Lack of motivation in the students. Students only inneract with those their own age or grade. And on the list goes
  • @Bloddrake The Pros of Homeschooling Small child-teacher ratio Child can work at their own pace Family togetherness Taught and administrated by someone who has a vested interest in the students life Produces self learners High test scores Little time wasted during the school day Lots of room for flexibility Time for other activities like homeschool co-ops, 4H, volunteer work, church, music lessons, home school skate, gymnastics, etc. Curriculum choice Interaction with various ages
  • @Bloddrake

I think the falling quality of public school educated Americans is adequate proof that all of the objections you raised are baseless and jingoistic/mindless generations of such "americans" visible in the mainstream are more than enough evidence to the contrary. As for "mainstream" and denied opportunities to be bullied and beaten, even raped.. eh, I will take a pass on the "social" development too.

Potential for development of parallel societies is great. What is wrong with diversity?

  • Homeschooling is illegal in Germany.

Even today, people are moving their families away from Germany

so their kids can get an education.

The law banning homeschooling in Germany

came into being in the... um, well in the ...1930's.

Banning homeschooling is a staple of socialistic dictators.

  • @Bloddrake Inadequate standards? Seriously ? do you not see how dumb and ignorant 90% of Americans as a result of being put through public schools? Funding for public schools comes from the government, and i relish the day when they won't have any more money to raise retards who don't know what a molecule is and parents will actually have to take the time to RAISE their children. Your next two cons can be grouped together as they need to be tackled at the same instance.

  • @Bloddrake Children in public schools do not grow up believing in anything, therefore they have no morals or values or understand what is right or wrong, they just believe what they want to day after day. What you call religious extremists are Christians who actually believe what the Bible says and understands that God does call things right or wrong, also say no other man can come to the father but through me.

  • @Bloddrake Childrens social development are so much more developed by not being a part of mainstream society. Mainstream society is what makes children believe they can be sexually promiscuous or gay or a blessed butthole to all other people and because no one says its wrong they believe its ok. They are denied mainstream society from homeschool, and they should, because mainstream society is a HUGE part of the problem.

  • @Bloddrake Did you come up with that last one yourself? that sounds like something out of an obama youth handbook. we aren't supposed to be in parallel with the world societies, the whole point is to raise your children to be different than the average sheeple and have a mind and brain that can think for itself and be able to know when it's being lied to and constantly seek the truth.

  • @Bloddrake first point please tell me what you are comparing home schooled kids too, since they do way better than both public schools and private schools, I want to know what else their is. This also reminds me of the high school english teacher that did not know how to read. second point I would like to point out that part of the problem with public schools is that the worse they do the more money they get. so in fact most public schools recieve far too much money for the "job" they do.

  • @Bloddrake third point. I know homeschool kids that are twelve that teach thirty forty and fifty year olds their first katas in karate, that are from different ethnic and religious backgrounds. Note homeschooled kids peers tend to be adults, wheras public school kids peers tend to be only their age.

fourth point. Since I dont see homeschool kids shooting up places, but do see public school kids doing that I must assume you got this point from thin air

  • @Bloddrake point five homeschooled kids are not sheltered. They tend to be around people of all ages and tend to work and start their own buisness at a young age, verses the public school kids that are only around people of their same age for twelve years

point 6 exciding standards are what HS kids do best.

  • @Bloddrake by the way I was not homeschooled but one day if God gives me children they will be

  • @Bloddrake i thought your comment was a joke at first but damn you're dumn. of course there would be reduced funding for public schools you godamn idiot as there would be more homeschooling and less need of funds. also everyone pays the same taxes anyway... wouldnt be a lack of socialisaiton of different ethnicity. potential for decreased religious extremity or simply number of religious persons. you just can't handle freedom. basically non of your cons exist or are cons.

  • @Bloddrake I learned next to nothing in public school. What with all the gang fights, bullying, constant surveillance by impersonal security guards, and the removal of personal authority in general, I felt more like a cow being herded through a slaughterhouse. Book stores, on the other hand, have taught me a great deal. I now live in a parallel society of my own, and it does not fit the standards of citizenship and the community. I'm proud of it. Ray Bradbury taught me that.

  • @Bloddrake You don't know what you're talking about, enjoy your blissful ignorance.

  • Nice video. I have just made the decision to homeschool my kids :) And it can be a very intelligent decision when someone does it the right way.

  • @DavidandTaraWalker Don't do that, your kids will end up cutting themselves and trying to commit suicide. I was homeschooled... and that happened to me.

  • @NancyDrew5858 I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't think that is the norm, but have heard of and known families who used homeschooling to be overly controlling of their children, resulting in very painful circumstances (and even death). I hope you are doing better now.

  • There are both advantages and disadvantages to homeschooling.

As far as "giving your best to a boss who could dispense with you", well, if someone is prone to career failures, that is a huge consideration. Many women enjoy successful careers that help to put food on their table, provide health insurance for their family, and money for college.

  • @vanillapie I am in no way putting down working women. I am a work at home mom that was raised by a full time working mom. I just know how stressful it is for my fellow moms (and aunts) that work, knowing that their are a string of layoffs on the way. I give tons of credit to those women who work for someone else...it's just not my choice.

  • Thank you. I needed to see this!

  • Wow. Someone totally missed the boat. But hey, ignorance tends to do that.

  • @Kome1 Sorry you feel that way...I'm glad I am ignorant on the subject I reference in this video.

  • @Kome1 Sorry you feel that way...and it seems as you've missed the point I was trying to convey.

  • @Kome1 do you have explanation or backing to give to your statement and accusation? if not dont comment at all...

  • This was a great response video. Although homeschooling can have a dip in the road every now and again it is the most fullfilling thing I have ever done in my life.
