  • A lengend in comedy...loved her.....thank you for the laughter, Joan......RIP

  • Joan Sims an absoloute Carry On legend.

  • she didnt look after herself 2 well, i used 2 fancy her a lot but past 1967 in carry on henry that was the last time she looked shaggable

  • loved her

  • Joan was great in not just the carry on series, but Simon & the Witch and most all OFAH.

I wish to God almighty I could return to the 80's as it was a time where TV, Film, radio and theatre blossomed with ideas like no other.

Such a shame that these days can never measure up to the standards of yesterday as we have to put up such talentless garbage of today.

    RIP Joan!

  • The picture is not "Carry On Matron" its from the Doctor series of films,Joan was in,great lady.

  • You're my idol Joanie :) I'm so sad that she hated being the dragon of a wife and having all the bad roles... but she could turn any bad role into a fantastic one.

    Miss you :) xx

  • Bless Joanie- who wouldn't want to give her a hug?!!

  • What a talented woman she was. I remember her fondly from Worzel Gummidge and Simon and the Witch with with equally wonderful Elizabeth Spriggs. Both now sadly passed away. She's a much missed lady. Her autobiography is a good read.

  • And Laindon Station is very much still there.

The have a placcard devoted to her there.

  • Utter travesty that Joan sims was never made a Dame - her contribution to british film and comedy - is and probably never shall be supassed not only in quantity but also quality - rest in peace joanie. x

  • Oh what a beautiful woman xxxx

  • Omg just seen Gorden Thompson from dynasty in this interview wow great to see him with Joan x

  • I love this lady, true talent and will always be remembered rip Joan x

  • I liked Joan Sims. She looked like a good laugh. Good post. I bet this was recorded on one of those video recorders which was silver where you had to insert the video into the top of the machine.

  • A betamax!?

  • Oh dear, shame TV-AM got a few things wrong. "Joan Simms" and "Carry On Matron" when it was actually a still from the Doctor in the House series.

  • in fact this as from the film'doctor in clover'starring james robertson justice, the man in bed is arthur haynes, waiting for a stomache operation.tmny876

  • Wow, lets bow to the expert! Well done!!

  • thanks for your comment,i like comedy films british comedy films from the 50's and 60's and have started buying them such as 'too many crooks' terry-thomas etc. I think it is strange to see john le mesurier in 'ben hur' and gene wilder in 'bonny and clyde'

  • She was a wonderful wonderful wonderful actresses. Totally underated. I miss her too.

  • One of the great British actress. She leaves a great legacy in the Carry On films and the many other television and film appearances. Gone before her time.

  • Oh she was a darling, you dont get actresses like Joanie anymore, she was just wonderful the carry on films will forever be with us, all the stars all the legends, its sad to think most of them are gone, but im sure they're all together now God Bless them*

  • I miss Joan Sims terribly. She was a true legend and so was Kenneth Williams. I grew up watching their films. They were truly great.
