They are as clean as a cat and way way cleaner than a dog...dogs stink if u dont bathe them regularly (not to mention the breath! You can potty train a rat and they are super smart...reacting to ur command like a dog! They become very attached 2 their owners as much as u r attached to them, they r very sweet like puppies! Ask anyone whos owned one or 30 like me!!!

When that baby came and said "Yew" I have never seen a member of that tribe of huge monsters there again :D

@halfbakedc00kie Well this is a boy in this vid, but all my rats are "kissy" , each rat has its own way of showing affection. I do notice that it IS mostly females that like to play bite my face and lips. And whats funny is that as the girls get older, they become a little more bitey!

Aww! :) That reminds me of my late great Blueberry & Jellybean trying to "pick up" water! When they went pea-fishing in a Pyrex pie plate full of water, the first few times they were more fascinated by the water than the peas! They kept trying to pick up the water in their little hands, and seemed stymied as to why that didn't work! ;) Eventually they quit trying that, and just went for the peas! LOL
I never liked rats. At all. Was more of a gerbil person. But in my psych class we are working with them. Trust me, I really hate how we are conditioning them. A lot. So I'm taking mine home when we're finished. Can't wait to rescue him from that terrible place. They are pretty special creatures.

Rats are AMAZING! They're very smart, friendly, and can do tricks =] my old rat, Spencer (rest in peace little buddy =[ ) would crawl all over me and lick my toes when he saw that I was upset. They don't smell as long as you clean their cages and give them baths. They love sitting on your shoulder and eating left over chicken bones =]

I'm doing a science project with rats and I got hooked.
I got a few as pinkies and, of course, some of them died (they're not suppossed to be separated from their mother that early and I didn't know that) and I bawled.
Now my parents have to let me keep some of them when the experiment is done. :)
Hey there, I'm thinking of buying two rats as pets and yet I can't decide on whether I should buy males or females. I'm mostly worried that when I buy rats that wild ones will flock over to my place which I certainly don't want. Will this happen at all? And which sex do people think are better as pets?

@nessianbby : I chose to get two males. As I've observed, females tend to be more hyper. Male rats tend to be more docile. My youngest male, Kalabar, likes to ride on my shouler & Cassius likes to hide between my arm & torso. I've not had a single problem with wild rats, though I do have a cat, which may be the reason. However, I've never heard of anyone having wild rat probelms due to their pet rats. Just be sure to find two that get along :]

Hey there, I'm thinking of buying two rats as pets and yet I can't decide on whether I should buy males or females. I'm mostly worried that when I buy rats that wild ones will flock over to my place which I certainly don't want. Will this happen at all? And which sex do people think are better as pets?

@nessianbby : I chose to get two males. As I've observed, females tend to be more hyper. Male rats tend to be more docile. My youngest male, Kalabar, likes to ride on my shouler & Cassius likes to hide between my arm & torso. I've not had a single problem with wild rats, though I do have a cat, which may be the reason. However, I've never heard of anyone having wild rat probelms due to their pet rats. Just be sure to find two that get along :]

Males are less energetic and more friendly (they also have big balls!).
Females are more lively, so it's up to you.
