I think the truth is that the Republicans decided to go full steam in an attempt to smear Obama as quickly as possilbe. They wanted the shortest honeymoon ever, and they almost got it in terms of the media coverage. The 24 hour news channels were all too eager to stir the pot, but the American people aren't listening this time. People are tired of being told when to be outraged. Especially in times like these where there are so many crooks and so few good guys looking out for them.
