Anne Lamott is a universalist. Hitler, Pol Pot, unrepentant rapists, everyone gets into heaven. She has also heartily endorsed 2 New Age books, one by New Ager Marianne Williamson and the New Age "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. She also has recommended reading New Thought writer Emmet Fox.

In "Plan B," she talks about wearing a bracelet blessed by the Dalai Lama. Good grief. The DL is in spiritual darkness.

All this should be cause for pause.

This woman and her books brought me back to Christianity after the Fundamentalists chased away. She is so courageous to speak from her heart the way she does with so many loud and bullying voices on the Right. It is obvious that she is very secure in her faith and convictions.

God is not a man or woman (Christian faith teaches us that God is a spirit)...however i don't think it is wrong to think of god as a man or woman as long as you understand that god is a spirit.God understands.

@boomac62 Yrd God is Spirit ( John 4) but he is called "Our Father who art in heaven." Jesus incarnated into a Male body and is called the Christians brother and bridegroom. The Holy Spirit is called He, a male pronoun. What is the confusion on your part when the bible from cover to cover conveys a maleness in theme, as well as spirit. What you never ever see in any holy scripture even hinted at is the God is called a female.

Anne Lamott professes to be Christian but is a universalist. This is why she's so popular - everyone gets to heaven. She said that Christians get "dessert first" in heaven, and the bad people like Hitler have to "wait for dessert."

Sure she's funny and earthy and all that, but she's quite wrong. She has also endorsed 2 books by New Agers. Of course, if you are not a Christian, you would not care about this. I say this only for Christians who do not know she has said these things.
