Wow! Aren't they such beautiful animals. They have the playful antics of a dog with the beautiful face of a racoon. I wonder how many countries the survive in the poor creatures.
I think that all animals can and should be harvested if done properly, humanely, with purpose and respect; No pain, No suffering. It is actually in the best interest of the animal and the fur company to give the animal a healthy "as wild as possible" life so that the furs are rich and authentic.
Not in every asian countries people use raccoons for fur. in southern asian countries, they are not even found, so blaming all asian countries is not worth it..
@NyaasuNekoban Unfortunately it is true :/ Thankfully the US banned all animal products from China, the UK is soon to follow suit. Most Chinese are no longer ignorant to animal rights, and less than 1/3 of China still believes in the dog meat market and fur farms.
The people claiming its endangered are anti fur and so called animal rights activists who habitually lie to furter their political agendas. I bet they consider pigs and cows on a farm endangered.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on the other hand is the authoritative souce for the status of all species - based on regular surveys performed by professionals and data gathered in the real world.
@CarlAlex2 Guess what I've discovered. If you look up Tanuki, it says they are not endangered, but if you look up raccoon dog, it does. Seems we have a rumor going around in America. I thank you for trying to convince me the truth. Oh, how often do you see Raccoon Dogs around there?
@Skittywolf It has only recently invaded, but the population trend is explosive. There is only one reported spotting before 1995, 23 registered animals in 1995-2003 and 91 registered animals in 2008-2010.
i swear i saw this thing in the city while I was walking my dog one night...it walked like a dog but looked like a raccoon! I was so confused but scared enough to run away..
I have just recently learned of the horrors going on in China. I want to help to stop these atrocities being done to God's creatures by the Chinese. I am ashamed to be American and the products made with the hides of these creatures are being sold by EBAY nd many other American companies. Please Boycott EBAY and all other companies that exploit these and many of God's creatures in such a cruel and EVIL, DEMONIC way. For the sake of fashion! It is sickening!
Maybe they look cute, but outside their natural habitat they are a major threat to native species. Essentially they kill and eat anything smaller than themselves and they breed very fast.
According to the WWF the second most severe threat to wildlife is invasive species, so if you want to protect nature and encoubnter a racoon dog outside its native environment you kill it or use it to locate others and kill the lot.
@CarlAlex2 but they are declining in their natural habitat. It's similar to the situation with the starling, which is an invasive species in North America but it is declining in its native range.
@FrankyboyLegend so what if they decline in their natural habitat? Are you implying that we should just sit back and "enjoy" while the racoon dog exterminates species after species outside the natural racoon dog habitat?
@CarlAlex2 Vicious? They rarely attack people, if they are unable to run, they curl into a ball, does that sound vicious? It's also rare to find raccoon dogs in the wild because they are already endangered and to let them go extinct is also "bad for the environment" maybe not for yours, but for their native region it is.
@Skittywolf Where do you get the idea its endangered? According to the IUCN Red List its classified as "Least Concern" (same as mice, rats and humans) with a stable population trend.
And it certainly is vicious towards it prey. Ita a good swimer and climber, so there is nowhere to hide.
@CarlAlex2 I looked it up, on several websites and of course it's vicious towards prey, it plans to eat it! LOL. Also, how is there no place to hide if it can swim and climb?
@Skittywolf I meant for the prey. One of the several reasons its invasion being so problemematic is that we dont have a similar pradator in our ecosystem - the similar ones (fox and badger) neither swim nor climb well, so the local prey species using water or elevation to keep predators at bay haven't evolved or learned to deal with them.
After habitat destruction invasive species is the second worst threat to endangered wildlife according to the WWF, so if you care about conserving nature rather than create a park for what you happen to find beautyful or cute then you MUST remove invasive species if you can. If you don't do this you are the one doing the exterminating.
@Skittywolf I did - IUCN Red List. An AUTHORITATIVE source. Classified as "Least Concern" - the same as mice, rats and humans - 2 catergories from endangered. Population trend stable.
Where did you get the idea it was endangered from? Some random web page?
@CarlAlex2 I looked up "Are raccoon dogs endangered?" and I looked at 7 of them saying they are endangered. Are you sure you didn't look at a common raccoon, or it could be outdated.
How could such a sweet an adorable animal be skinned alive. Anyone who hurts these, or any animal, should be skinned alive and dipped in acid. These animals are so beautiful.
Anyways, the video quality is amazing, as well as the camera pose. Great job on that! We got to see all of their cuddly-sweet-playfulness.
Maybe they would be under better protection if they were domesticated? I mean, it would be a good reason to administer vaccines for mange, as well as getting them off the streets and somewhere they can be taken care of. Given how many predators they have in the wild, I don't think they'd mind being taken in. :3
F-ing awesomest animal ever. Why cant the asains bring THESE over to Canada instead of themselves, or zebrah muscles. I hate zebra muscles... I love raccondogs...
Amusing things they are. I can often see them lumbering around, when I´m walking my dog late at nights. They are quite common nowadays here in southern Finland. Those f....ng hunters though hate them.
I had only ever seen raccoon dogs in the videos of them being skinned. Seeing them at play like this makes the other videos seem even more horrible--I didn't think it was possible.
I would agree to saying we shouldn't be cruel to animals, but killing them for fur doesn't really strike me as that awful (if it can be done humanely). One consequence of human population is that the hardier predators are gone and the rest of the animals are not, leading to wild imbalances and overpopulations of destructive animals. If this animal is endangered, then protect them, and if someone is cruel to them, prosecute, otherwise, it's OK with me is someone wants to have a fur jacket.
@CodeGeronimo these are scared animals in Some Asian COuntries, you fucking Faggot the Only People funding the Skinning of these animals are European Companies including Dutch, Fucking hypocrite !!

@CarlAlex2 that's not what they meant. I believe they should capture those introduced ones and take them back to their native range.
FrankyboyLegend 4 months ago
@FrankyboyLegend They were introduced to the Soviet Union - in the rest of Europe they hace spread on their own.
Live capture is so ineffective that its not practical and you would add the burden of transporting them halfway around the world.
No - these vicious pests need to be removed as effectively as possible and as fast as possible in order to protect the environment.
CarlAlex2 4 months ago
well you do have a valid point there.
ppl made that uneducated decision just for the sake of improving fur quality. Now few people want fur.
True they feed on native birds but they also feed on muskrats which are also invasive.
