it's not illegal. how do you think they have the coin pressing machines at popular places and such if it is illegal? (yes, i said COIN pressing machines because i've seen quarter ones)

no not illegal defaceing a coin is illegal. people get more money from melting silver and gold coins then you would selling the coin its self.
