For who, who dont understand why police and government werent happy with that car, its because it was a that time one of the fastest (top 5) cars in the world, faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo, faster than a Ferrari 348, faster than the sportscar Lotus Esprit (!). In fact it remained the fastest saloon for a couple of years. No one have ever seen a 4 doors family supercar capable of 176+ mph until the Lotus Carlton (Omega). So government and police werent happy at that time

The Lotus Omega is juste an entire rebuild Omega 3000 ;) They didn't take just the chassi.

When the 3000 come out of the factoty, Lotus took the car and take of all the pieces, for modify them, and makes them more strong. So they modify all engine one of one.

Those car is completely built by Lotus, they only took the Opel Chassis. The Effort was much higher than in the Opel Series. So these Cars don´t rust because they are more quality made.

It is neither a Lotus or Opel, Opel is the German version of Vauxhall. This is a Vauxhall. Basically Lotus just grabbed a bunch of Vauxhall Carltons, played about with the engines to make it stupidly fast and chucked on a body kit, air vents and wider wheel arches at the back and hey presto. You have yourself a Vauxhall Lotus Carlton

The Vauxhall Carltons and Opel Omega went down exactly the same production line in Germany. They just had different badges put on them. Lotus were then given the 3000 GSI (Opels & Vauxhalls; they did LHD & RHD versions) to strip as a basis. It is similar in that respect to an Alpina BMW or AMG Merc.
