I love this song..but think the Gospelaires sing it best......Mostly, I love the knowledge that God has a balm for the brokenness of my heart and that Jesus' scarred hands applies it to me.....
If anyone here reading this has a video of Brian, Ivan, Michael, and Tim performing their hit song, "Only God Knows", please post it. That song tells a story that really needs to be told and Brian does such a fabulous job in it. Thanks and may God touch each one's life.
To me, this make-up of Gold City Quartet is the best of all. Brian has the clearest, freshest, and most crisp tenor voice I have ever heard since Tommy Atwood of the Flrida Boys in the late '60's and '70's. Tim Riley is the only bass singer in Southern one was to Gospel who comes anywhere close to J.D. Sumner singing bass. If anyone ever takes J.D.'s world record for having hit the lowest bass not ever hit by a human being, it will be Tim Riley. These gentlemen had such a unique chemistry.
I guess everyone has their favorite GCQ song. This one is mine. It has meant so much to me over the years. My second choice is "Beneath this Armor". Wow. What a message!
i can remember being 8 years old going to the Boutwell auditorium in b'ham, alabama on new years eve seeing these guys preform this song. AMAZING !! We need Gods singers to come back here to birmingham. This city needs the Holy Spirits presence in a major way.
The writer of this most anointed song is none other than Mrs. Kyla Rowland of Morristown TN. There is NO other songwriter in ll of gospel music who has the "goods" so to speak as this Godly lady has! Knowing her personally has been a true blessing and to see how much she suffers in writing these powerful songs is enough to make you shout GLORY!!!!! She has truly lived this song...every line!
My heart is so broken right now because of a situation with my son who is 19 years old. I have sat here at work and cried all night, and this song just came to my mind. It has brought peace to me, and i know that everything is going to be alright.
With or without music these guys were all great! They could equal any Barber Shop Quartet and they do not use music at all. Some of these comments are ridiculous. They are without a doubt the GREATEST GOSPEL QUARTET EVER!!!
Why are the bass and drums always the subject of ridicule? They add so much more. Just piano, or just piano and bass is so empty and it sounds awful. Tim riley is powerful enough, I can hear him just fine. People nned to leave bassists and drummers alone and allow them to be able to express themselves in Southern Gospel music just like pianists and singers get to.
I think some groups go a little over-board and drown out the singers and especially the message. My fave group of all time is the original Inspirations Quartet... (2nd Classic Gold City).. go ask Martin Cook if you can play like Ronnie Tutt for him and see what he tells you. hahahaha
I play too but I think the drums should be turned down a bit at some of these concerts. IMHO.
this song is a very heart touching song, I can see the guy who is playing the guitar struggling to keep from crying thanks Gold city. i know it is an old video of them but its still annointed singing
wow beautiful song and singing. Brian is holding on to the mike with both hands, realy involved in in the song. those guys are great singers , we have a great God

Most southern gospel is not better in acappella!!
flyingdude6821 3 years ago
This song, like almost all Southern Gospel would be 100% better a cappella or with only the piano. The bass and drums smother Tims wonderful voice.

thats Tims late son Doug Riley on drums. Tim was also a great song writer.
