  • @wotanzorz lol you need to learn a few things about engines and boost compared to vtech. There is no vtech its called boost which hits at a certain RPM (like vtech) when the exhaust pressure is high enough to spool the turbo and that is when you gain peak power. Vtech on the other hand kicks much more instant when it hits a certain rpm but less power increase compared to turbo.

  • @JDMMotorSports your retarded....a turbo is making more power on the motor the moment it starts to go out of vacuum and into boost. and vtec is the crossover to a bigger cam load at a preset rpm. therefore, you can have both at the same time if your motor does happen to have vtec...

  • @niggernate1 when you have any type of boost it defeats the purpose of having vtec, it was invented to give the eco minded/daily driven individual the ability to pass some douche if the pedal was slammed if you plan on going forced induction vtec becomes obselete.especially with turbo setups which are 2-stepped, but on a forced induction vehicle, it doesnt matter.you will more than likely change the cams,cam angle, intake/exhaust timing etc with a turbo and vtec will becom nothing but a memory

  • For what it is, it's not bad at all...but it's capable of so much more! :) I've got a 94 Accord with an H22A swap, soon will be built and boosted after I get done with bolt-ons and doing a K-series intake manifold swap and other things. Don't let these other people who drive a 6000lb truck with a stock V8 tell you it's slow. Just go line up with them and use your 8000rpm and power-band against them. That's what I do.

  • @sctflasher379 yes u'll start 2 lose power after 7200 on stock cam , but even if there's power loss the revving speed is not that bad on d16's so it keeps accelerating good, about d16's head is the same as d15b vtec it can rev 8k with no problems & its coded P08- , but notice the cams r different , anyway i am mechanic & i know what i am saying , some ppl just keep repeatin wrong old info that they inherited across generations .

  • @noxdark1 ok and i respect that ur a mechanice. But i still believe taking the stock head to 8k is a little iffy as valve float starts at 7500 for these motors. I build Honda motors as a hobby and i had a d16z6 didn't like anything past 7200 at all

  • @pimpedd correction, you can get about 230-260whp out of a single cam vtec motor (z6 or y8) psi doesnt mean anything because u can do 10 pounds on a gt40 or someting bigger and be over the 260 and blow it. psi doesnt mean much because 5 pounds on a 40 trim and 5 pounds on a 60 trim are VERY diffrernt. its all what the stock bottom end can handle

  • @alvizar1989 depends how much hp you wanna push out of it. bone stock would be considered reliable at 200hp-220hp, but you still have to change the fuel pump, injectors and a few more parts before you can reach that goal

  • this engine in "stock mode" goes 7500rpm, if it`s a D16Z9... a D16Z6 goes 7350 / 7400 rpm...

    The first time i drive mine d16z9, the rpm that this motor can go "shocked me"!!!

  • your an idiot for boosting a honda without a tune. you realize the stock computer cannot handle positive pressure. you could at least get a map bypass and fuel pressure regulator since your doing things on the cheap. and that narrowband a/f gauge is money down a rathole.

  • so what if ur stock srt4 does 20 psi?, gtis can run 34 psi on stock internals because the engine is ment for boosting. the cars are much heavier as-well. boosting a civic wud rip any stock turbo gti or srt4. a few of my buddys have a srt4 and turbo gti runnin 36psi and still lost.
