This technique looks like it would also be good unarmed using an uraken uke strike-block instead of the initial knife cut then grab the back of the head with your hand.
@mmacconn069 thats a possibility but i think the check and the strike would force the attackers head back making it difficult to continue the motion to grab, perhaps a diagonal elbow strike would slide the arm into a better position to grab, unless you were referring to a forearm type strike. My two cents worth.
