  • NOTHING IS SCARIER!

  • That town is like my little mexican border town; Rio Bravo Tamaulipas, alone in the night.

  • Is that blood on the floor by the front desk at 3:41?

  • you'd think at least 1 car alarm would of gone off

  • @MrNobby14 This takes place in a backwoods small town. I bet there is only three cars in the entire town that are that fancy. xD That's whats so scary to me in this film, the feeling of being so hopeless and alone even though there are people every where.

  • What the hell was this movie about anyway?

  • @thinlizzybone is about how money doest not know whos the good, the bad or the ugly

or for that matter, the unrestrained persuit of easy money to any cost.

  • @thinlizzybone is about how money doest not know who is the good, the bad or the ugly in this case the crazy one, for that matter, shows the unrestrained persuit of easy money to any cost.

  • @thinlizzybone This guy (Josh Brolin) steals a box of cash from a drug deal gone wrong. Anyway the guy in black is an assassin trying to kill him.

  • Moss was a good soldier, but too many mistakes

Shouldn't have went back to the crime scene. Others would go looking. A witness was already bad enough, now his truck.

Make sure illegal money isn't tracked and spend it wisely in case it's marked. Check and move it to another bag and place. When you find a tracker, get rid of it right away.

Move it to an offshore account, cover any trails, and flee the country if they're after you.

Shotgun click and sitting right in front of door = No no.

  • @FortitudeOfHeaven The only reason he went back to the desert where the crime scene was because of that guy who was asking for water. It was bothering Moss that he didnt help him. Thats why you see him fill up the plastic jug.

  • josh is a great actor. but Moss was a dumb guy in this movie. 1st he does the dumbest of things =decides to go back out to desert with water at 4am ?! Here he sits right in front of a door where he expects someone to come into- instead of sitting to the side a bit. Moss aint' no smart guy.

  • @MissTeenPregnancy Moss is human. If Moss don´t go back to the crimescene, there´s no plot. And in the end, that humanity that got him killed.Sitting infront of the door was him deciding to deal with the problem and not run,not knowing if there was one or 12 guys.Bonuspoints for balls.Who is gonna expect your opponent to have something that shoots out the doorbolt? He still handled the rest pretty smart, combatwise.Leaving the money in the truck and hiding immediately.Anton jumped in the nick of time.

  • @MissTeenPregnancy..."moss ain't no smart guy." Do you see the irony?

  • @aemerson0425 well then, i'll tell'er myself.

  • I wanted to see another epic shootout with Anton and Moss with Anton being killed but no.....Moss has to be killed OFF CAMERA! That was the worst part of the film. It was good though, always left you unexpected of what was about to happen.

  • I know it seems like he is from another universe, being practically omnipotent but...Chigurh missed.Yes...aimed for Moss, most likely...he didnt have a scope and he wasn´t 15 feet away so I dont get the problem people having with him missing. He miss constantly in this scene, how many bullets does he throw away,15?Not a bullet hit Moss.Moss must´ve picked up something in Nam cause once he decides to shoot,he hits his mark. Not lethal but still..nice turning of the tables and an intense scene.

  • It was an adaptation and when u make one,you should bring some of your artistic touch to the script n film, make something your own..n guess thats what they did.The Coen brothers, although accossionallygreat are so cynical and in many ways the storys are hollow n u cant care about anyone...and here, they could have shown Moss go down at thesame time as Bell was on his way, could´ve been a great scene..but theyre so cynic, people dont matter in their stories so they just stuck to Moss´s sucky demise.

  • @finalflashy

It's because everyone is use to Regen Health these days.

  • josh brolin is one badass mutherfucker.

he did a great role in true grit.

    loved it.

  • Imagine Moss had found the money case under that tree, then decided to only take the stack of ones cause he didn't want to be greedy ... :D!!

  • I really wish they showed the gunfight that Moss died in. That was a real let down because you know he didn't go down without a fight.

  • @Ninety9Soulz read the book

  • @Ninety9Soulz Yes,agreed. This faceoff showed that when up against eachother Moss can hold his own against Chigurh,so a 2nd confrontation between the 2 might not been necessary. So the mexicans find him at the Motel,ok,he most likely kills one off them before dying ok..but show it! Dont switch places with protagonists n tell it from Bells point of view all the sudden n turn Moss into just another victim.TLJ n Bardem got noms for supporting..n despite dying 25min before the end,Brolin was the lead?

  • @Sumumabitch78 Exactly, it's my one gripe with this movie

  • @Ninety9Soulz That's the point. The Coen Brothers did this on purpose to steer away from the typical Action movie expectations that a desensitised audience would expect. They only show the shocking aftermath of what really happens following a shootout.

  • its just too bad it didnt happen the same way as in the book. had they done in it the way novel had it.. it would probably have been crazier

  • I love how he closes the door at 5:46 just like nothing happened

  • This film was fun to watch, can't take my eyes off the screen since the beginning. The suspense itself was superb. What other films similar to this would you suggest? New or old, just want to watch something while I'm far away from home

  • @vontristan19 Goodfellas ;)

  • @peturr916 he was using a suppressed Intratec TEC-9

  • One of the best movies I have seen in recent years. Suspenseful, wonderful acting, perfectly paced storytelling, and a bittersweet ending which is perfectly appropriate to end it. It officially made me a Coen Brothers fan.

  • For those of you watching who don't live in the US. I want you to know this is what it's like EVERY night in Texas. We live like this , fighting for our very lives constantly on the run grabbing bags of money and shooting at eachother and we wouldn't have it any other way !

  • @MissTeenPregnancy bollocks

  • @MissTeenPregnancy dumbass texans, the scum of america

  • @MissTeenPregnancy and nigger huntin right? ahh good ole texas the last defender of america's freedom

  • What gun was Chigurh using when he was shooting at the truck?

  • Comment removed

  • How many rounds does Anton have in his silenced shotgun???

  • @StrelokTymochenko That shotgun doesn't shot bullets, so in a sense, it can never run out, just worn out after too many uses

  • @StrelokTymochenko I would guess between 5-8

  • What was creepy is how they were in a very public area, but yet, nobody was around

  • no it's a tec 9 silenced

and the shotgun from chigurh is a remington 11-87 silenced

  • god this scene is so intense. llewylin couldve easily been killed when he jumped out the window.

  • Excellent Movie now im paranoid

  • Mediocre to bad movie, with pretty good performances.

  • I love this film!!!! And Josh brolin is hot! :P

  • the great thing in this movie (off course among many others ) that it makes u feel like u are witnessing a shootout down the street !

  • So true. The use of music has an enormous affect on how a scene is perceived, and the lack of it here is indeed what helps make this so epic. 5/5

  • Music would have ruined the movie. Thank you Cohen brothers for being amazing.

  • Aw shoot. When you see the light outside of the door turn off your heart just stops. Great movie.

  • *SPOILER* it bugged me that this guy ended up being killed by random gangsters rather than this badass

  • Two things about this scene. One, why didn't Moss just throw the tracer out the window? Wouldn't that have eliminated the chance of Chigur finding Him? I would have done it. Two, why did he stand right in front of the door? Why didn't he stand on the side of the door and wait for Chigur to come and and THEN blast Him?

  • @dmarkj22 thats exactly what i was wondering

  • @dmarkj22 because he is a real man and he wants to face and fight his ennemy. he is not a coward. besides, he doesn't knox that anton is a psycopat

  • @dmarkj22 But the main logical flaw on this otherwise great scene is why Chigurh shot the driver instead of Moss when he had the perfect chance for an aimed shot. There´s no explanation for this.

  • @ChristianPaul75 Maybe he thought Moss was driving?

  • 5:04 Reason 32 not to stop for hitchhikers.

  • If you hit 5:06, 5:09, 5:13, 5:25 and 5:30, it will look like Anton is shooting him really fast. Pretty cool.

  • Lewellyn had a son ya know. His name was Chuck Norris.

  • Chigurh maybe one of the only villians you never see running which is great. I like it to how it appears at points like Moss is being shot at by a ghost.

  • Chigurh would own Two-Face

  • It was a air gun

  • @TheSuperfrost no it wasn't....

  • @TheSuperfrost it wasnt though, thats what hes uses to open the doors, he uses a normal gun for shooting people

  • the way the bullets collided with the glass...really brought home how dangerous the atmosphere was. Consider other movies where bullets spray like water and hit nothing but air. But here, the bullets firing felt real. Just an amazingly well executed scene.

  • Anyone know what gun anton was using?

  • looked like a tec-9 to me.

  • Everything in this scene is told just by the visuals. If there were no sounds effects, it would still be effective.

  • That cat must have guessed correctly on the coin toss...

  • Suspenseful

  • Suspensful

  • I had never really noticed before that when Chigurgh shoots the truck driver, he had the opportunity to shoot Moss but instead chose to put the driver out of his misery. When Chigurgh had to either accomplish his mission or show mercy, he chose mercy at the expense of his mission, which is interesting.

  • @Fidosim Lol. That wasn't mercy, that was just him getting people out of his way. No survivors all day.

  • @Fidosim its also interesting that his air pistol is a gun that they used to slaughter animals with that stunned them before they bled out so the animals wouldnt be in misery. Its interestingt that a character like Chigurgh would eb equipped with a weapon that would make death quicker

  • @Fidosim I dont think he knew who was who to be honest. For all he knew moss could have been driving.

  • @Fidosim he more likely needed the car to stop! the driver just wouldve hit the gas when he wouldve shot moss - no money..!

  • @Fidosim He didn't give him mercy, he was just making sure he was dead so they couldn't drive away.

  • wow turtle beach much

  • Loved this movie. Why do the Coen brothers remind me so much of Stanley Kubrick?

  • Lew Moss proved to be a pretty smart operator, considering he had just basic soldier skills,it was only overwhelming numbers against him which brought him low--

  • 5 people got killed by Anton Chigurh

  • it's realistic

  • Was anton using a different gun other than his shotgun?

  • @Roboprez3 HK MP5 silenced, I think.

  • You'd be hard pressed to find a scene more tense than this.

  • the anti-climax of the ending is the point. there are no big heroic showdowns anymore, not in the modern day when this much money is at stake. just send a bunch of guys with automatic weapons

  • Huh, the wad of cash the tracking devise is in is a stack of ONE dollar bills . . . Odd.

  • @VegaRocksTheRoses

Well, sure. You wouldn't cut out a hole for the receiver in a stack of $100 bills, and waste all that money.

  • i would have started blasting as soon as I saw him standing in front of the door

  • Never notices the mulitple shots with crosses over Llewelyn in the hotel before he finally confronts Chigurh.

  • I dont understand why the Coen's have to kill Josh Brolin in all there movies...first this movie then True Grit!! lol he has gotta feel bad...first killed by a man who is a symbolism of the devil, then by a little 14 year old girl. Well atleast he doesn't die like a bitch in the movies =]

  • @TheNewMoon333 Symbolism of the devil? What the fuck are you talking about?

  • @AgentFlea Sigh...its complicated. The whole movie is symbolic...you just gotta google it

  • The Coen Bros originally wanted Heath Ledger for the role of Moss...So tragic that we lost this genius actor (at the age of 28)

  • I TRIP OUT ON HOW FAST CHIGURH MAKES IT FROM THE HOTEL TO WHERE HE 'S SHOOTIN AT THE TRUCK SO FAST BUT HEY STILL A DAMN GOOD MOVIE

  • This is the best scene ever. Your heart just can't stop beating so fast.

  • The Coen brothers are absolute true masters of cinema. I cant get enough of their movies, and this movie is beyond words, how good and well done it is.

  • This and Blood Simple are easily the 2 BEST films of the Coen brothers' careers.

  • @lurch321 Millers Crossing is the best imo

  • I just cant get past the horrible last part of the movie. I know its supposed to be all clever and interpretative and according to the book. but I cant help feeling disappointed after seeing such a gripping and intense scene like moss' and chigurh's showdown, and then have it fade out into some random string of events that all add up to the most anti-climatic ending I have seen in a movie

  • @lemmedasker Sorry you feel that way friendo.

  • @Silvertrine

    :(

  • There are five reasons why this sequence is amazing:

    1. No music

    2. Natural, realistic lighting that is also ominous

    3. Perfect pacing in regard to the editing

    4. You never leave Moss' perspective

    5. Great acting

All 5 of those things are done on purpose. And each one of them compliments another. And this is one of the greatest movies ever made because every scene has just as much thought and effort put into it as this one does. One of the best EVER and EASILY my favorite movie ever.

  • @randomdude1138 I agree man. My favorite movie of the decade. Not a second is wasted in this film. The pace and tone of the film is even throughout creating a perfect rhythm. That combined with the amazing use of great actors, set design, sound design and lighting creates one of my favorite movies of all time.

  • @randomdude1138 music would have ruined it, no music adds to the realism.

  • @randomdude1138 It's because it's real, there is no acting here. Javier was really trying to kill him, only he didnt

  • @henriquebraz oh man, you got me laughing so good with that one :D

  • @randomdude1138 funny thing about top comments and personal lists, i bet you get alot of "well...." and "sure but.." dont ya? lol, now here comes mine. moss' perspective changes when he lays in wait for anton, and it switches for a short second to anton's.

dont ya love comments that shit all over your parade? and have no relation to what you're trying to say?

  • @InterRage Yes, I do. lol.

It changes to Anton's perspective briefly near the end so that he can escape alive. So that when he dodges Moss' shot, it seems more believable because we know he saw the blood tracks on the ground leading away from the wreck. Not to mention the obvious parallels to the earlier shot of Moss tracking that animal through the desert.

So yes, you're right - it does change to Anton's perspective, however briefly. But it was for a purpose =)

  • Poot driver. He didn't any evil thing. But He killed by Anton. Even if He didn't say anything!

  • They probably changed this around from the book, because Moss is too much of a god damned retard during this scene. WHY THE FUCK, DIDN'T YOU SHOOT HIM! WHY!? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!? He's a hit man... not a friendo. Oh, and WAY TO NOT CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL WEAPONS.

  • I'm a teenage girl and I freakin love this movie. I watched the entire thing by myself, alone, in the dark, with the volume at max. It was so intense I thought I'd faint.

  • this movie kicks fucking ass

  • At 5:38 is that a Domino's takeaway?

  • what happpens to the money who gets it in the end?

  • This is simply an amazing film. Everything about this movie is perfect. The grittyness, the mood, the right amount of memorable humor, the tension,it's all so perfect.

  • @permatroll You're a noob.

  • @permatroll you suck

  • Bardem is amazing in this film. If you're in LA or New York December 29th, check out his new film title "Biutiful" by the director of 21 Grams.

  • The Coen brothers directed the hell out of this scene and that's why its great because of their genius direction. Look at the tension they build!

  • You know what I've noticed? Why does the door open up immediately after Chigurh blasts the lock withouth turning the knob? Doesn't seem to make sense

  • I have the shotgun Josh Brolin uses, except mine is the trench model with the heatshield, bayonet lug, and sling swivels. Awesome and reliable weapon!

  • This is some intense silence. O:

  • If only he cocked the hammer when he turned the light out.......-_-

  • why would there be dollar bills mixed in? shouldn't have been all hundreds? it was 2 milliion after all.

  • @prodos8 Dealers wouldn't cut up legit Ben Franklins just to hide a beacon. Using singles, on the other hand...

  • If Moss had just had the hammer already back on that shotgun, he could have got Chigurh at the room & had done with it. :/

  • fuck, Chigurh is a good shot with the tech-9 shootin'up the Ford Bronco!

  • Although this scene was good, the book scene kicked ass. The Columbians show up and it's a massive shootout in the streets.

  • this scene still makes my heart race after a dozen times of seeing it.

  • damn javier bardem is such a fuckin baddass in this movie

  • He should go to the strip club with all those 1's.

  • Why didn't he just shoot through the door if he saw the guy's shadow right by his door at 3:00??? I'm sure it would've went right through the door and gotten him.

  • @PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD well, watch 3:25; he shot at the door and it didn't go through, just splintered the door. but besides that, i don't think he was willing to shoot until he was pretty sure he wouldn't be taking an innocent life, even if his gut was telling him (correctly) that it was the guy who was after him. anton, of course, wouldn't have hesitated...

  • @sehnsucht333 Exactamundo. I was going to say what you said, word for word pretty much lol.

  • Wow this movie is quiet, even in the most intense moments. I wonder why they didn't put Background music or Ambient sounds? And why such a secluded town in the middle of southern Texas?

  • @aspottedcheetta The fact that they didn't use music just makes it even more intense. Silence is scary and this movie doesn't need music to tell the viewer how to feel.

  • Give ya' 300 bucks for that shirt.

  • I mean, think about it. 0:18 : Obviously using the Sitrep perk. 1:00 : The Hotel Manager didn't have his headset on. 2:10 : Getting intense, Moss has to camp. 2:41 : Chigurh noobing the heart beat sensor. 2:53 : Chigurh obviously cheated, using Turtle Beach ear phones to enhance sound. 3:21 : Hit marker! 3:24 : See, if he had FMJ, he would've been fine. 3:33 : Commando Pro. 3:47 : Team mate timed out. 4:00 : HIT MARKER! 4:09 : Pain Killer 5:08 : Last Stand 6:52 : Steady Aim+FMJ :D

  • Was anyone else thinking of Search and Destroy for Call of Duty when watching this?

  • Lol, 5:33-5:38, nice driving buddy!

  • "I ain't gonna hurt ya"

    *neckshot!*

"Mr Chigurh, on the other hand..."

  • The lesson I learned is to always check any briefcase full of money.

  • man. this movie makes me feel like a scared little girl. Damn! Not putting music was brilliant!

  • first thing he says when he gets in the truck "don't worry i ain't gonna hurt ya"

  • The beauty of this film lies in the title. The sherrif can't keep up in this game of cat and mouse so he hangs up his hat. No Country For Old Men.

This scene is high intensity filmmaking at its best.

  • Chigurh should know not to fuck with a Goonie.

  • 1970s ford f150 a really strong truck

  • the only missing thing was the duel betwen the sheriff and anton

  • this movie is like a moderns days spaghetti western

  • If I was Josh Brolin I would be shitting my self the whole of this event.

  • @brownking96 he wont be shitting himself thru this event cos he has been in Nam..

  • Javier Bardem is a great actor but he's a creeper but he's a perfect fit for the role

  • im starting to think that the reason this movie is so good is because there is no background music, therefore, people can put more attention to whats going on in the movie, also the characters do not overreact

  • @capitanconchapeluda absolutely! I don't think a lot of people/realize or appreciate this. It is especially jarring because the Coen brothers are usually so skilled with integrating music into scenes and it is such a hallmark of theirs.

  • @capitanconchapeluda Exactly what I thought the first time I saw it. It's excellent!

  • @capitanconchapeluda Background music can make a moment in a movie truly amazing and send great emotion to the audience. But in some cases, this being one, silence is the perfect score.

  • @capitanconchapeluda Right on dude/dudette. This was the PERFECT movie that didn't need a soundtrack.

  • @capitanconchapeluda true, but if the plot and actors/characters were bad, the absence of music would make a bad movie even worse lol

  • @capitanconchapeluda dude your a genius i dont care whether it is true or not. if you noticed ever that during the release of this movie there were some dissapointed viewers because they saw this movie and just thought it was dull, had no emotion, few words, and a ton of killing. I think in movies like these, there are expectations of thematic messages and symbolic pieces to go along with the movie. Background music always made those messages more clear.no music made film more fucking beastly.

  • @capitanconchapeluda Exactly. Overreaction is the biggest problem for 99% of movies out there today.

  • @capitanconchapeluda funny background music usually emphasizes scenes

    kill bill is prime example

  • @strangereveryday I disagree. It's 'supposed' to emphasise it, but more often than not it kills it.

  • @jegspillerpiano more often than not, having no soundtrack will probably kill the movie, it's a testament to how great the coens are that they know when to completely pull out the soundtrack and have a near silent movie

  • @drummerjoe2610 you make a good point, but as a rule the better the script is the less the need for invasive music. Good music can enhance a movie for sure, and bring out it's style and quality but should be used at opportune moments and not to fill the voild of incompetant writing (or no 'writing' at all, as so often it seems)

  • @jegspillerpiano I have to disagree, I find that rule one you'll rarely be able to apply, considering the extremely memorable scores on brilliantly scripted films like the godfather, there will be blood, the 400 blows, and 8 1/2.

  • @jegspillerpiano now i disagree it does EMPHASIZE scenes. why else would people make movies and pay artists thousands of dollars to create music for a scene if it wouldnt bring it out. silence works with some films if you added music to this it would kick ass

  • @capitanconchapeluda That is so true. It used to be very common in older movies, which is what made them so frightening, etc.

  • @capitanconchapeluda I agree. The only real music at all is during the credits. The lack of music, particularly in scenes like this one, help to make the scenario even more tense.

  • @capitanconchapeluda Yeah, The idea to put no music was Ethan Coen's idea. Joel Coen was a little skeptical about it but all in all it worked out really well. Read this on Wikipedia so take with a grain of salt.

  • @capitanconchapeluda ya background music can work very well as proven by many great directors, but in this case the silence was key

  • @capitanconchapeluda Yeah, I love the clean cut, raw feeling of the movie.
