benn was a hard hitter too ,no one knows if benn caused it or assisted it ,but as sad as the ending was ,you have to give benn credit for the way he came back they were both such hard hitters and it reaqlly could have gone either way on the night .benn was very proud and didnt have the normal english mentallity of competing is enough,he wanted it so bad cos he was insulted with the money offer to fight toney ,so they got gman over just to beat him up ,and that gave benn that bit extra resolve
it sickens me when some of y'all say he deserved what he got. Thats such bullshit man no one deserves what he got, gerald will always be one of my favourite fighters, he didnt lose to benn in my eyes. Mclellan was one of the biggest punchers i ever saw, he was the tommy hearns of his era god bless him
@sallah098 he's been one of my fav for years. Thank u for your kind words .I box also an I told everyone when I turn pro I will donate half of mu Boxing earnings
@thecrazyoftheinane-I wish for every single trainer/owner/spectator/ basicaly anyone who is involved in the evils of dog fighting to get a 'Gerald' and end up a spaz for what they put the dogs through for their own sick entertainment and be a burden on their family and friends :) @watts4433 what bad things did the Dark Destroyer do ?
Truly the best G Man tribute. I play this everyday multiple times a day. He will always be my favourite boxer. Thank you so much Sallah for this. Never take it down bro.
@honeymclean No! you mean to say all that's is the same thing to happen to you. You devil! Wishing evil stuff on people you need to watch your own back you devil, because god might end up having you suffer a worst fate!!! Stop being a devil before you get blocked!
@honeymclean Mcclellan was far from an angel, but i can't say he deserves to be in the state he is now. People seem all to happy to forget that Benn was hardly a nice person either back then, he was involved in a lot of dodgy stuff himself.
@honeymclean Dude, did u know him personally? No, you didn't. You just judge him on one of his actions and go with your own assumptions. We all make mistakes dude.
Just read the description above, he was losing the fight right up until he stopped.biased much! He won 2 rounds in that fight, every other round benn out punched him and out worked him fact! I was there
mcclennan may have been a good fighter but lets not forget before this happened he was a sadistic bastard who was into dog fighting which is just sick especially when he threw a labrador with his mouth taped up in with his pitbull. i think its sad what happened to him but what he did with dogs is just so sick and unforgivable
if McClellans camp had done their homework theyd have known Benn was harder than a coffin nail. and with harder punch than McClellan too. McCellan was quoted hed hospitalise Benn maybe this made it such a brutal fight. but even today McCellans family still blame Benn? why? Benns done more to support this man to pay his care bills than any bastard in McCellans camp/corner has ever done? so lay off.
@jimmysavilleluvchild Nigel Benn did show great resilience, but he was fighting extremely dirty especially when he started hitting behind the head of Gerald McClellan. But overall your right, it definitely turned into brutal fight! Yes, Benn was very supportive after the fight! Very True!
@sallah098 gerald also hit benn twice on the head when he was knocked down, what goes around comes around. it was tragic what happened to him, he was head and shoulders what came before him, nunn, toney, tate etc, but it was the wrong fight for him benn was a brawler with stamina, something G-man had not encountered before. if he had taken a different route he would have been a legend no doubt about it.
@jimmysavilleluvchild spot on mate. Benn did what boxer/fighters do, fight his heart out to try win a sporting contest, he didnt go in there to hurt g-man the way it ended. Sad truth is had manny been in his corner the fight may have ended as soon as he started spiting his shield out.
Man everytime i step into the ring and i'm scared i ask my self nigga do you think your idol G-Man would bitch out like this, and i always turn the fearless on
Benn was my hero before this fight, i remember it so well, the commentators saying that it might have been stopped in Mclellans favour in the first.
But the other thing i remember is how Mclellan siad before the fight that he was going to hospitalise Benn. It was just the usual trash talk of course, but being young i wasn't used to hearing that sort of stuff. When he ended up in hospital i kinda thought he deserved it
Just a kid, but i still feel guilty for thinking that way.
It sucks we don't have any more rangy lanky punchers in boxing anymore. G-man, jackson, hearns. All 6 foot + skinny bean polls that could K.O a horse.
With what was to be discovered to be a glassy jaw? Yeah, if Gerald ever caught Roy flush (which in his prime was nearly impossible) the front rows would be covered in crystalline shards, haha.
Thank you sallah098 for posting this. I was only young when he fought Benn and Benn was a hero for me but I cried when I saw this tribute. This man was a great fighter and should always be remembered so well done sallah098.
Nigel Benn was the guvnor. He sparked Iran Barkley and Doug Dewit and was so game he would fight any man, in any country. Sadly, he probably left some of his best work in the gym. The man was a true warrior who had his first paid fights as a kickboxer. Yes, he was beaten by lesser men but he always gave his best and no one who ever paid to see him fight ever felt they had wasted their money !!
best ever middle weight at the early 90s could of been a legend , bt i believe he is a legend , all u wasteman dnt knw shit about his style of fighting was something new compared to most boxers, he take you 2 points if he had 2 , or he jst knock da fuck out of u ,DA REAL G MAN
@azam6307 I think he should go down as the best middleweight of the 90's period! Roy Jones ducked him for years, so that goes to show who the best middleweight of that era truly was!
i really felt sorry for him before i knew his story with the dog, but after that i dont know if i still fell sorry for him, he was not a good person
