I have the same truck only its blue. and i know that it helps performance an all because it really helped when i did that to my 6.2L chevy diesel. MPG went up, performance, everything.
lol no wonder your coughing it looks as if you were runnin that crap inside your garage with the door down. are you insane! haha plus its even worse since you cut the muffler off
I dont understand why you would cut it off? Its only two bolts and two hangers holding it on... i have a 99 with my mufflers off and its always nice to be able to just put it back on when i want to quiet it down
A good suggestion why iit changes with in that time frame is because the computer or ECM adjusted the air/fuel mixture so it will run just as or even better then when the muffler was orgininally on there keep in mind that the computer changes measurements and the calibration on things just like if u change exhaust or intake so keep a eye on stuff like and remeber what u did
this is a stupid question.. its hard to tell on camera but is this like LOUD or is it okay?? cuz im getting my lisence next week and i want to do this to the 94 ranger 4.0L i got but dont want to draw to much attention to myself
i wouldn't do it if i were you sledneck177. theres plenty of mufflers out there that have a great sound and aren't exactly quite. put a flowmaster or a glasspack on it or something.
when you change the backpressure the only thing you're doing is moving the powerband around a little. no back pressure: dragging a little pressure: all around good times and more than that you put torque way down low in the rpm level meaning more wheel spin at lower rpms. it depends on what you're using the vehicle for, and what you have done to it.
That's pretty sick, I am about to do the same to my 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. Question though, Have you experienced any loss in Horsepower or noticed anything different?

i have a 3.0 with no muffler and it sounds badass. i would do it man. especially since the 4.0 is bigger, they sound even better in my opinion.

no not at all...if you wait about 2 weeks or so it gets deeper..dont ask me how but that high pitched cackel turns into a deep one

It may just be the sound quality on your camera, but it doesnt sound all that loud. Check out my 2.3 ranger with no muffler.
ranger8997 3 years ago
your 2.3 has larger bores, therefore a louder exhaust. and they're 2 different animals.
