  • I had this surgery 6 weeks ago and my recovery time has been really amazing!!! I believe this was better than my c-section I had 19 years ago. I love technology and I am so very grateful my GYN was up on the latest regarding my total hysterectomy. I wondered what the surgery was like and it is great to get an opportunity to see what actually occurs with the daVinci Robotic method. Thanks for sharing. This sure helped me have a better understanding of what I went through during surgery. :-)

  • I guess i'm havin this done on the 15 of feb, but OMG THIS IS NASTY, Y AM I WATCHING THIS..

  • I'm having this surgery done in january 2011 does anyone knoe the diffference of removing the cervix versus not removing the cervix? If you didn't have it removed are you having light bleeding on your monthly cycles? My doc says remove it so I don't have any chances of cycle bleeding....hhhmmmm

  • My surgery is coming up in 4 days .....I was wondering about the recovery time?

  • just had this surgery last week... pretty nutty to watch! I am shocked there is not more blood. I would recommend this method of hysterectomy to any eligible candidate. It was only painful two to three days after. thanks for posting. My surgery lasted 3 1/2 hours.

  • @mcsssn14 Yes, the surgery is pretty amazing. Check out the newer HD version at my youtube channel: mpatricklowemd. The video quality is 100x better than this one. Take care.

  • 4 arms and a ligasure for what looks to be an eight-week size uterus, and no adhesions?

  • I am so glad that films like these are made. I am a Surgical Tech student and was surprised how much I understood what was happening, not ever being in an OR. Thank you for your time on making this video. Truly amazing.

  • Very precise procedure. What is the instrument used to push & manipulate uterus?

  • August 13, 2010.I had this surgery done, 7 days out, I am doing well, but having some pain . I see the doctor on the 31st. I quit my pain meds because of constipation 2 days ago. Now doing fine, 1 pain pill this morning. The cancer was all contained in the uterus so I was blessed and no future treatment is needed since it was all removed. Surgery was 1 and a half hours. Out of the hospital the next day. 24 hours later. I do wish I had stayed longer. The jarring of car travel was very painful.

  • Fabulous surgery one of the best I've watched, reasons to be a surgical tech!!

  • Had this done three weeks ago and I feel great!

  • I'll be having this done in 2 days. Hmm...maybe I should have waited and watching it AFTER..haha

  • Funny, Diane Sawyer featured the system on the Today show, but does she really think technology like this will be available in the future with her liberal support of universal health Care?

  • I just want to say that I had this procedure done on March 9th. It is absolutely wonderful. I am still sore but not nearly as bad as it could have been with the abdominal cut. I would recommend this procedure to anyone who might need a hysterectomy. Technology is a wonderful thing.

  • How long is the entire surgery?

  • @mynamekeisha

they told my mother 4 hours.

  • @AinsleyChaos

    That seems a little long.

  • This is a great video. I had this surgery 2 weeks ago and was wondering what had taken place in the operating room. I feel great. Because of the edometriosis I have my doctor, Dr. Susan Puyau, was only able to save one ovary and I am grateful for that. Technology has come a long way since my mom had her hysterectomy. The recovery time is cut by more than half. Robotic is the way to go.

  • Excellent information.

  • This is wicked :S , my first year in medical school and I still feel dizzy while openning rats.. : /

  • How big is the uterus length wise, weight wise and width? Hope someone will email and let me know how they are doing after the surgery

  • I just had this done July 17th. I had the procedure done in Tallahasse by a wonderful Doctor. Dr, Ramsey. I'm two weeks and two days into recovery and have had NO pain. I feel bloated and a little uncomfortable but was up walking the next day, somewhat. Today I feel good, not great yet, but good. My uterus was 9cm x 6cm x 4cm. Little bit enlarged.

  • this is super but I'd like to know how the patient feels physically down the road

  • I will be having the da Vinci/Robotic hysterectomy surgery soon in August 2008. After watching this video I feel much better about my decision to have this surgery. You did an excellent job explaining the different steps of the procedure.

  • Good luck on your surgery I don't know when my will be done I have to go see a specialists in a week or two on what will take place ect
