  • Ugh, I can't stop crying or hoping he gets better. Don't die! Please, Robert, Don't die! Please...but it's in the past.

I miss you so much, Mr. Kennedy. Peace

  • Sirhan did hit RFK 2 times, but the fatal head shot came from 1 inch behind RFK. All witnessess said Sirhan's pistol never got that close. Also, RFK had powder burns on his skin around the wound. The only one behind RFK with a .22 gun was the security guard. RFK spun around and grabbed his clip on tie. There is a famous photo fo RFK, the bus boy and the tie right by RFK's right hand. RFK told us who shot him from behind by grabbing the fucker's tie. He was a last minute mafia replacement.

  • @1916jutland That is just bullshit. It was one guy, one gun, period. End of story. Let RFK rest in peace.

  • @proferic You sure don't know anything about the assassination for you to make that kind of remark. RFK will rest in peace when the asshole who killed him dies and it's not Sirhan Sirhan that I'm talking about.

  • @1916jutland Your'e the one who doesn't know shit. Posting fake and false facts your'e pulling out of your ass.

  • It is so sad that everyone thought he would be okay. As I am watching this, I am thinking don't go that way you will get shot but I can't go back into history and stop it. God Bless and keep JFK and RFK

  • To the perpetrators: America's soul will not rest until you are found. We do know that 3 of you are dead already but the masterminds live on.

  • its not fucked up people go there.. its the same thing how parents and loved ones go put crosses on highway roadsides when people die from car accidents. also its a major part of american history where people can make their own theory on the assassination.

  • "Well its kind of fucked up if people want to go back to a hotel where someone is murdered."It is that alright phoneeix91

  • ANYONE know what happend to the mexican guy that was holding RFK's head the pic you see in all books. or that black guy that kicked the shit out of the ARAB GUY That shot rfk

  • yep his name is juan romero and he has made several interviews he was one of the closest eye witness.

  • do you think Mr. Romero has that 'iconic pic' in his house.

  • And the hotel would have lost business quicker than it did.I may be incorrect but I heard that there were some people coming to the hotel just to see the spot where Robert Kennedy was killed after 1968."do you think Mr. Romero has that 'iconic pic' in his house."I don,t know but maybe he has a newspaper picture cutout of Robert Kennedy just after he was shot, just my guess.

  • Juan Romero. He was a busboy at the restuarant in the hotel. There's a famous LIFE Magazine photo of him holding up Kennedy's head.

What happened to him since then?

  • I guess Mr. Romero proably is retired and in his early 60s or mid 60s

  • There was an article about him in Time magazine a few years ago. He lives on the central California coast, and, according to the article, tries to do something every day to honor RFK's memory.

A much more honorable choice than what most people would do today. Somebody in Romero's position today would immediately be offered(or seek out)a book contract or a movie deal. The man chose not to "cash in" at all. I'll always admire Juan Romero for that.

  • i dont know why but when i watch this i get my hopes up that RFK would survive even though know he's dead. This really brings go back in time

  • all of us alive today, young and older are children of that very dark night in la we went from HOPE LOVE and poetry to a nation of very dark politics of nixon, watergate, ronald reagan and iran contra, bush and GW2 and cheney's neo cons

its a direct line....from this tragic evening

  • hopefully, Barack can be the light out of the darkness we as a nation have only seen since moments like these. fate please don't deny us of another embodiment of hope, love and change as the people here were!

  • People like you are the darkness of this nation. The only bad thing about Barack's Presidency so far are people like you who won't live and let live. Stop bitching and being overly dramatic.

  • UH...dude, Martin Luther King was a Baptist minister. Accepting Jesus Christ as lord and savior is pretty much part of the job description And we don't know that Dr. King was in favor of abortion. You're not going to say that you reject Jesus if you oppose segregation and oppose war, are you?

  • then who does MLK beleive in??? Isn't he a baptist?

  • rfk often quoted both emerson and ancient greek writers he loved their wisdom comforting him re brothers death he was basically a poet who came to lead this nation

and he was cut off too early all of us alive today, young and older are children of that very dark night in la

  • a man that knew martin luther king and cesar chavez now this great honorable man shall all rest in peace.rip in robert.

  • God bless this guy....and the reporters...tough times..

  • If one wants to visit Central Receiving Hospital or the Ambassador Hotel, you're too late. CRH was torn down for a LAPD station. The Ambassador was torn down for a high school

  • the ambassador was torn down for a high school, why am i not suprisd the government want to destroy anything related to this

  • The Ambassador Hotel became obsolete after the Mariotts(Courtyard, Fairfield and traditional Mariott)and other chains started to dominate the scene. The Ambassador was off the traditional paths. Most of its competition was near the freeways while the Ambassador was off them and it withered. The higheat and best use was for the land.

  • I would say that it started to lose business little by little because of RFK killing. But you can disagree with me.Also I would say that people were coming to the hotel to see the spot where RFK was shot.

  • Well its kind of fucked up if people want to go back to a hotel where someone is murdered.

  • yes I would agree with you on that but a lot of people are odd that way and the reason why there were some people just coming to the hotel just to see the spot where Robert Kennedy was killed was just because the guy was famous and a member of the famous Kennedy family,if 'Joe Soap' was murdered in that spot in that hotel you can be sure that no-one would be coming to the hotel to see the spot where 'Joe Soap' was killed.

  • People still watch plays at Ford's Theatre.

  • Who was the CBS anchor doing this. Whatever happened to him? I can see Mike Wallace and Terry Drinkwater and hear Roger Mudd.

  • The CBS anchor is Joseph (Joe)Benti. This would be normal for him because he was the anchor for the CBS Morining News. His knowledge of LA was from his days at KNXT in LA.

  • Benti was born in 1938 and passed away in 1991.

  • Joseph Beni was not born in 1938, and is very much alive as of 2009.

  • And his name is "Benti." This new keyboard...

  • @RobKoster I believe Joseph Benti had two long stints as an anchor at the CBS-owned TV station in Los Angeles, with a four-year stint (1965-69) at the network in-between.

  • Benti was born in 1932 and is very happy and healthy, retired, and learning to play golf where he lives in Camarillo, California...

  • Stop assuming that if anything ever happens people must be muslim.

  • thanks for this footage...very interesting to see

  • This was actually one of the first radical-Muslim terrorist attacks on the US. The killer (born in Jordan) did it because of RFK's support for Isreal, and because June 5 was the first anniversery of the 1967 Six Day War.

  • This was NOT a "radical-Muslim terrorist" attack on the US. Sirhan was and is a Christian, as are about 5 or 6 percent of all Palestinians.

  • Just because someone calls themself a Christian doesnt mean they are

  • I'm not saying he behaved in a "Christian" fashion; as a Christian myself, I would say clearly he did NOT act in a Christian manner when he shot RFK! However, he was raised a Christian, and attended a Christian school while living in Jerusalem. The point of my commment was to clarify the empirical fact that Sirhan is not Muslim.

  • oh well, sorry about that.

  • oh really? the KKK are christian.

  • Sirhan was born to Palestinian parents in Jerusalem and was raised a Maronite Christian. However, in his adult years he frequently changed his religious thoughts, to Baptist, Seventh-day Adventist, and Rosicrucianism.

  • He was a Moslem fanatic. You're an idiotic apologist.

  • Let's settle this once and for all. Sirhan was born a Christian, and he attended a Christian school in Jerusalem. This is not an issue that is open to debate--it's an absolute fact. In fact, a small percentage of Arabs are Christian. For example, I have a student in one of my courses right now who is a Palestinian Christian. Her family is originally from Jerusalem.

  • HOPE so. A Great Man with all his and our faults died. At the end of the day it does not matter who killed him. LETS Try to keep the dream like he would want.

    RIP ROBERT

  • Uh. No. He was neither. The passages in SIrhan's diary condemning RFK were in a different handwriting than anything else in their.

Secondly, SIrhan was a grade school dropout in Palestine, and would NEVER have used phraseology in English like "My obsession with killing RFK is becoming uncontrollable".

(one of the diary entries in the other handwriting).

Thirdly, the man wasn't a Muslim. Not all Palestinians are. You can't blame Islam for Robert Kennedy's death.

    Last, SIrhan was apolitical

  • tell me in full detail what you're saying. I didn't read the whole conversation, and it seems like you know your facts. and not to sound stupid, but what's apolitical?

  • "apolitical" refers to the state of having little or no interest in politics(or, in Sirhan's case, in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict).

Sirhan had a grade school education in Arabic. He learned English as a second language and at a functional, rather than a deeply intellectual level. He would not have

known enough about psychology(and certainly would not have been fluent enough in English)to have known what a sentence like "My obsession with killing RFK is becoming uncontrollable" meant.

  • It always makes you wonder about what might have been.

  • great footage, so much appreciated. i'm 26 and and it's interesting to see how they covered this.

  • God bless you for all of this, JFK1963, however hard it is to watch.

  • I've been wondering how they did the RFK assassination coverage on TV

  • This is NOT about JFK, it's about RFK. That's Robert F. Kennedy.

  • Very impressive aggragation of footage and editing on this multi part series of JFK's death. Thank you for your good work.

  • angelstar is right, it's about RFK.

  • JKF HAHAHA STUPID!
