Studies may or may not show that children in homosexual families are disadvantaged.... the real opposing force to these kids are not their family but the bigoted society they have to face. As long as the child gets love support and etc., I grew in a single parent house hold, and I turned out damn good. I even have a mental disability, I was still one of many people a head of my class. My father died when I was ten. I'm 22 now and I look back and think I would be who I am if it wasn't for my father dieing. There is no magic spell of goodness that happens as a result of the child's biological parents being the same people raising it. It all depends on how the parents themselves are. Evidence to rebutt? There're hardly any studies around to show that it even works, because it is still early research. And there are no national represented samples. Most studies are limited to single lesbians or couple and rarely include gay couples. Findings= lack of opposite sex role modeling & relationship building. Girls raised by lesbians tend to experiment in relations with women. Boys lean toward feminine. tendencies. Both suffer more depression & emotional difficulties.

I think we should leave the gay communty( spelled it wrong sorry.) alone and focus on the children who are being hurt in many ways in foster care. I sister works with DHS,and the stories she tells me about, how children aren't being loved and everything is up setting.Okay I'm going to stop and but its not fare. Thanks

As long as the child gets love support and etc., I grew in a single parent house hold, and I turned out damn good. I even have a mental disability, I was still one of many people a head of my class. My father died when I was ten. I'm 22 now and I look back and think I would be who I am if it wasn't for my father dieing. I work my bum off to go to college and to take care of my self, and this lady has the nerve to talk about single parenting and gay parent raising.

Uh yeah. So, my mom's an alcoholic and both my parents hate each other. She takes out a lot of anger on me, they never have sex, and because of it I had severely low self-esteem in high school. I seriously doubt I was better off to have a mother and father who hated each other and were never intimate. I would have rather had two dads or moms in an instant if they were willing to care and support me the way parents should. The only reason it's not as ideal is prejudice is passed on.

That's why I never regreted growing up with a single mom.There was no hate betweens my parents but they separated when my dad got sick. I am afraid of what could hapen if they were together. Maybe they will fight , divorce, and so on. So I prefer to lvie with a single mom than living in a broken home with parents spitting on each other's face.
