  • Heath Ledger played the more psychotic crazy Joker. Nicholson played the more Cunning Joker. Look they both did a great job. They both portrayed the Joker really well.

  • Ledger's Joker is a guy who got fired from his job where he had to dress up as Ronald McDonald and decided to slit the corners of his mouth and wear lots of make-up (can you say emo ?) and take revenge against the world ! Seriously, Ledger's Joker looks like the emo version of that clown at McDonald's. The only reason people are defending Ledger's Joker so much is because they are hardcore Ledger fans and will defend their idol with their lives, just like those Nirvana kids defend Kurt Cobain.

  • Heath ledger is a billion times better than the jack Nicholson joker in every way possible hands down end of story goodbye

  • the cartoon joker really scared the shit out of me when i was a kid!

  • heath leagder

  • this is full shit!!, each one of that jokers it is a step forward...

  • mark himmel is the best joker! he just does the voice so well! i grew up with him as joker in the anmated series, and then he's back doing it in the new batman arkham games

  • Ledger is The Best!!!

  • Heath Ledger is the best, mark hamill was the best cartoon Joker. Don't get me wrong, but people who thinks that Mark Hamill was the best joker all around are stupid. Mark Hamill only did the voice of The Joker. Mark said it himself that cartoons were easier to do. It takes a lot more to actually act as The Joker. In Heath's case he actually put his heart, body, and soul into his Joker, sadly Heath paid the price, RIP. I still have to give Nicholson credit he put up a great performance, but I l

  • Heath Ledger of course. Only RIGHT answer

  • Health Ledger all times!!!

  • Nicholson of course :)

  • Joshscorcher...

  • METAL !!

  • @pcrvg0808 Would be my choice of music if i could go back in time and add music.

  • The period goes inside the quotation marks.

  • @jcannonator actually if you want to be a nit picky little bitch that is only the american usage. In the British usage placing periods outside the quotations to end the sentence not only is logical, but is just fine, and since this is the internet and thus worldwide, I can use either usage.

  • @Joker3797 LIKE A BOSS.

  • @jcannonator hahaha

  • нгеере

  • The Ledger-Joker looks the best, but the Nicholson-Joker ist the funniest^^

  • 1st one he looks gay...

2nd one is good I really like that one

3rd who gives a shit about cartoons...

    4th Can't compare.

  • i love this song!

  • Nicholson was more classic joker look. Ledger made it realistic

  • i love mark himmel he is the best

  • Nicholson was the original Joker, but Ledger was the best one. Mostly because of the scars and personality.

  • @MrNagahishi they both were good for me i prefer ledger a bit more because he was more of a crazy joker and his look was spot on ledger could have been a tad bit funier like nicholson nicholson was a good joker because of his jokes like the rhubarb one and the emina etc

  • I never saw any of the movies other than Ledger's, and a portion of Nicholson's. I prefer ledger, but Nicholson was fucking scary lookin' Lol

  • Mark Hamill #1 :D

  • The movies made in the 89 are diferent from now If Jack is asked now to do the same Roll with Nolan we will se the difernce Heith is a good acter but lets be honest Jack is the man who invent this types of movies and roles...But at the time that was the type of Joker that can be accapted buy the people...

  • Mark Hamil and Jack Nicklson were born for the role

  • They both used different key techniques to highlight the joker's insanity

Jack Nicholson was all about contrast- the jokers light heartedness balanced with sudden pshycotic episodes created a dangerous unpredicatable element.

Heath ledger used lots of little actions (the licking of his scars the slouching to show he was from start to finish a phsycopath)

So its really subtlety vs Intensity

  • The one on the far left is a fail 0:51

  • Cesar Romero's Joker was pretty good. All interpretations were good, for they trully conveyed that particular characteristic of the Joker that the producers wanted portrayed at the time.

  • Nicholson > Hamill > Ledger

  • @NottinghamForest22 Hamill > Ledger > Nicholson

  • @Mordor6121512 ledger sucks

  • @NottinghamForest22 You're trying to be all so cool just because everyone around says Ledger was awesome you just wanna be a social outcast and say he sucks.. I bet you sit with your fatass dad enjoying listening to Justin Bieber songs and watching shit on Disney Channel

  • @Mordor6121512 yep, that is exactly what I do....

    ledger sucks btw.

  • @NottinghamForest22 Yeah but his portrayal of Joker was awesome, hence the praise and awards.. And jealous outcasts like you were the result of his awesome acting

  • @NottinghamForest22 Heath Ledger's joker shits on those two...his acting was extraordinary and that is a fact...

  • @Susi2584 nah, people overrate his performance just because he did himself in. Nicholson is far better.

  • @NottinghamForest22 actually you can't compare them...two different Joker's...Jack's Joker was funny, while Heath's was more insanse..you can't compare apples and oranges:)

  • jjack nikolson did show us the funny joker, and Heath Ledger did show us the crazy joker

  • I'm glad you're dead! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @smawzyv are you referring to ledger?

  • @smawzyv No. I'm just quoting.

  • The bottom line here is that you just really can't compare Heath's Joker to Nicholson's.They're as different as night and day. Heath's darker, more intensely sadistic take on the Joker represents the character as he was originally introduced in the comics whereas Nicholson's take represents the goofier, more buffoonish side of the character that was established in the comics later on down the line. They are both perfect and astoundingly vivid interpretations of two sides of the same personality.

  • 1. Heath Ledger

    2. Mark Hamill

    3. Jack Nicholson

  • It's a tie between the two with me. They both played a different personality of the Joker. Jack played the classic gangsta Joker with his criminal enterprise going on, Ledger played the deranged darkside of Joker that we never seen before.

  • HEATH LEDGER FTW

  • I seriously don't understand this whole comparison deal with people. As time developed in comics we have seen different variations of the Joker. Tim Burton brought us the zany, comic antics of the Joker while still maintaining his unbalanced mentality. Nolan gave us the completely random, deeply psychotic aspect of the Joker that we would see in graphic novels like JOKER or Arkham Asylum. Die-hard Joker fans or not, you need to just come to terms that each actor portrayed the role faithfully

  • @a7xfan20 i know that now, and to have intelligent people such as your self discuss the comparison is why i have left the video up, i like hearing what people have to say.

  • @a7xfan20 Im glad someone else thinks so, jack nicholson was great and so was heath

  • NICHOLSON JOKER = THE BEST OF ALL ,, LEDGER JOKER = THE MOST OVERRATED ,,,, AND FUCK YOU WHINY PEOPLE IF YOU DISAGREE

  • @McLovin666ll FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!

  • @pred117 suck my cock whiny little prick

  • @McLovin666ll Shut up, cunt.

  • No Mark Hamill is the best Joker, sorry but he is.

  • @97MCProductions yeah he had the best laugh and really brought the joker to life for the animated series.

  • I RATHER JACKOFF TO THE SEARS CATALOG

  • @monkeynuts76 I WOULD rather jack off to the Sears Catalog.

  • Nicholson is the best!

  • i hate the ledger fans, they dont know anything about comics and dont even watch the first batman movie and come to say -ledger joker is more realistc darker and evil- come on,if you know anything you see he is not a character created by Neil Gaiman he is just a assassin who laughs and like to do clown freaky and amazing murders

please stop with this shit, joker is not Batman,he is oposite

  • @slizrox dude i kno a lot of comic book fans and they also agree heath was better. i mean hes just real and its perfect for nolans movies because his movies are taken seriously. if u dont like nolans films watch burtons and stop complaining.

  • The question is ... who's Joker will touch the screen now. in my opinion y loved Heath' joker hes got a dark personality but he get some well and brilliant done laughs.

  • I haven't seen Jack Nicholson's Joker, but Heath Ledger's portrayal was stunning and absolutely different in the sense that he reinvented the wacky, comical Joker I've only seen in clips. Ledger's was darker (yet still humorous), witty, tactical, and absolutely cold. To the Batman he faced, Ledger produced a lethal foe that was more suitable to the movie's climate than Nicholson, though by no means am I bashing Jack... it depends on the Batman you grew up with.

  • @MidgetOppression Watch the 1989 Batman. Jack's Joker is just as lethal as Heath's.

  • Heath Ledger Joker is sure damn scary :( i would never piss him off :)

  • (Sorry for my English, I'm french) Jack Nicholson is good as the Joker because he has his humour, a terrifying humour, and he's most "jolly" than Heath's interpretation.

But may Nolan, in the Dark knight, wants to create an other sort of Joker, darker. He had success. These joker interpratations are amazing in their own ways.

  • Jack Nicholson is the Real Joker!

  • nice comparison but you shouldve let the viewers' voices choose... this video is just your opinion, you didnt state any qualities of the individual jokers or why you even selected them, what they added or took away from the comic, etc...

  • @SparedParts read the description.

  • @Joker3797 I read it Joker... I was just saying, actually I agree with you but jack gets the 2nd place for sure...

  • @SparedParts lol at least you you did not get offended like some people on here. Some guy called me a pathetic asshole just for what i said in this video.

  • @noirkitten for a little bit.

  • @noirkitten me too thats why i like the fact that there is more than one version. I lean towards Heath a bit because he could actually hold his own if not only for a little bit in a fight with batman, as soon as Keaton's batman got a hold of Nicholson's joker it was no contest, nicholson was not a threat anymore. But i still like the character and it jack did a great job, for me I just felt like for being Batman's arch nemesis the joker should be able to hold up in a fight with batman if only

  • I vastly prefer Heath's Joker, but I'm a crazed Batman fan, I love all the Jokers.

  • its like none of them did it good enough.. One day we'll see the real deal, and he'll be a whole lot more insane then them all together

  • Jack has just screamed crazy his whole career, he was born to play the joker haha

  • nicklson looks like a transvestite..heath was the real joker

  • @unicron24 i like the fact that there are two versions to watch for variety sake, but i dont know if i could like a pajama pants wearing joker who dances around to Prince.

  • niclelson liiks like a transvestite..heath was the real joker

  • Fuck you.. yeah he played a great Joker but to be honest he looked liked a hobo. Look at Jack.. just a clean cut and classy Joker he might not look too scary but he won't hesitate to put a bullet in your head.

  • @Iotasnake Jack was not all that Joker-ish.. Heath was an absolute Joker.. The Joker is either depicted as a murderous psycho or a goofy clown, and the psycho Joker poops on the goofy Joker.. Jack was goofy while Heath was psycho

  • @Mordor6121512 He was goofy..hence his name the "Joker". That film was make back in '89.. shit was goofy than. Yes Ledger was a good actor but I think the make up is what your really looking at. Jack Nicholson can play almost any role including "psycho". And if psych that's what you're into watch his "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

  • @Iotasnake I am not talking about Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger as actors, I am talking about their portrayals as Joker.. Jack may be the better actor, but Heath was the better Joker.. Just read The Killing Joke, then watch Jack's Joker and Heath's Joker.. There is more similarities between the character and persona of TKJ Joker and Heath's Joker..

  • jack all the way

if he hadnt killed himself he would not have been as big, its only coz he is dead that the world has fellen to his feet!!!!

i fo love the film/character tho

  • @danjames84 i dont think Heath's death was the ONLY reason for TDK's success, but i would have to agree that it did attract more people for sure, because people who knew who Heath was but were not into batman movies may have gone and seen it.

  • u can't really compare Jack to Heath, they were playing two sides of the same coin. Jack was playing the mob boss side, Heath played the side of Joker that just wanted to watch the world burn, he had no plan, no need for a criminal empire or money. They were two different Jokers dictated by the times.

  • None are the best. They are each representative of their time.

  • 0:34 - The one in the left is Alan Rickman

  • @tgh00ker lol are you serious?

  • @Joker3797 not quite.

  • @tgh00ker lol

  • stop comparing they are completly different jacks is a happy, crazy joker

heath's joker was a dark, phsycopathic, diobolic joker.

  • @TheRashmonkey i know, read the description. You are right. Oh, and we will have to see what Tom hardy does with Bane, maybe when The Dark Knight Rises comes out i should make a Bane comparison video lol :D

  • @Joker3797 LMAO at the Bane comparison.. We all know even if Tom Hardy's Bane doesn't turn out to be all that impressive it won't be absolute horseshit like the *coughs* B&R Bane

  • both Jokers are the best. The Joker of Cesar romero in 60s Tv series is gay.

  • @TheInbornMechanics would have to re upload it and i would lose the 2800 comments that i have, which if you took a minute out of your busy schedule to read, the comments are the only reason that i have the video up.

  • @TheInbornMechanics *Click. And the description is right there and it only takes a minute if that to read. I have 44% thumbs up and 56% thumbs down, almost half and half. Most of the comments that i get on here are people saying their opinion, not immediately insulting me personally. So, no i will not edit my video just because some dolt who is too lazy to read the description tells me to. Do you call everyone that has a different opinion than you an asshole? If i edited the video then i

  • @TheInbornMechanics Usually i dont repeat myself but for you i will make an exception. I will say it again because i have already said it in my previous comment. READ THE DESCRIPTION. In the description it says that i changed my mind. You dont have to be a mind reader, just able to read.

  • @TheInbornMechanics next think before you speak, lol. I like both versions as they show two unique and interesting takes on the same character. In other words, (so you can understand), i have since changed my mind after making this video.

  • @TheInbornMechanics lol im flattered you took the time to look at my profile on my youtube page. If you are old enough to criticize me for being "only" 20 then you have some growing up to do. Its just a video expressing my opinion at the time i made the video 3 YEARS AGO. The original Tim Burton Batman is a great film, I would have love to have seen where a third Burton Batman film would have gone. I like Batman just as much as Begins and The Dark Knight. Read the description of the video

  • @StupidMarioBro64 As far as a comic book character he is nothing like the joker. You can almost say he is not the joker and in fact a whole another character, but you know what? As far as being realistic, brilliant, and a lot of research into the psychology of man, heath's version is the best one. And to be honest, when you watch this movie, listen to the joker and watch who he victimizes, he is more of a hero then batman, he actually makes batman look like a defender of corruption.

  • @StupidMarioBro64 i really disagree with what you just said but at least you are being honest lol i like all the jokers and i like both jack and heath's versions but i will say i do agree with you about the animated series joker being good, mark Hamill was the shit

  • jack nicholson was tha best joker

  • I enjoyed all of them. Each is a reflection of the time period of their film creation. Your grandchildren's version may be more technology oriented and the kids will probably say that is the best Joker ever.

  • PART 1

You can’t say which one is “a better Joker”. You just can’t. Both Joker’s were very different, yes they were the villain after Batman, but they had different personalities and psychology. Jack and Heath are amazing actors and played their characters to perfection, however, their approach to their Joker was different and it’s due to a number of things; Jack represented the Joker. He showed what the Joker is like.

  • PART 2

Heath, instead, WAS the Joker. He lived and breathed the character. Both approaches are acceptable by an actor’s choice to their craft and they may have made those choices because of the storyline, Director’s image/style to the film, etc.

  • PART 3

I think people may have preferred Heath’s Joker a lot more because of how dark the Joker was and it’s because of Nolan’s style...he wanted the sinister/dark/eerie look to his Batman films. Tim Burton obviously had a different image to his Batman movie and therefore may have influenced Jack’s path towards his Joker character.

  • @JamesJonathon013

    well put!!! i agree 100%

  • @JamesJonathon013 All of what you said is very true. :)

  • It depends on what you want. Jack Nicolson is the funnier more humorus joke while Ledger is more the creepy insane evil joker like Hannibal Lecter. Both are the best in the way they portray the characters, they just do it in diffrent ways. Its all aout what you want.

  • I'd say Ledger hands-down only if he laughed a little more. The smiling and laughing brings the clown out into it. Without it, he's just a psychopath - very good at his role, but the clown element which is a real bonus isn't there, only superfiically. Ledger's was epic, though I wouldn't say undisputed, both are great

  • they are two great respectable actors potraying 2 different sides of "The Joker" and from different era..

    comparing them is unnessesary...

  • @CatherineHunterRank6

    I love this response.

  • I wouldn't have voted for Heath Ledger as being the best joker going on looks. Instead it would have been how well he portrayed my favorite psychopath but I do agree. He is the best. At least that's my opinion.

  • @Xigbar309 yeah that is the mistake i made when i made the vid, lol

  • Obviously the cartoon joker wins

  • Mark Hamill is definitely the best Joker.

  • no one should ever decide on one joker. although i myself like mark Hamil the most

  • Really? No music??? lol j/k :P

    Joker's awesome

  • @TailsFan29 Look i have already been over this before! LOL jk He is indeed awesome.

  • They are both brilliant !!!

  • I say 1960's Joker was awesome just because he was so silly. You could actually call him "A Joker" He was just so silly and Not serious that he made a good joker. :3 but I liked them all.

  • mark hamill's voice is the best, heath ledger acted him out the best, if u could resurrect heath and give him mark hamill's joker voice i think we would have a winner, imo anyways RIP heath

  • I like them both. Jack's Joker had some great lines and Heath's Joker was plain crazy. Both were very good. Christian Bale brings it down a bit for me though...

  • Ok Jack's Joker explains how he became the Joker and Heath's Joker is just plain stupid.I mean look at him,he looks like a dude who plays with knifes.Jack's Joker has a reason to have revenge.I think Jack's Joker is the best always, watch Batman and then Watch Dark Night.Compair the two.

  • In my opinion, Jack Nicholson Hands down, purely because he has a natural villains face with or without the makeup and was tailored to play the joker.

Heath Ledger's was good but he is a natural babyface good in this but you can still picture him as the good guy.

  • That sucked!!!!

  • Ledgers joker just wanted batman dead for money, or for some twisted experiment. Joker has to hate batman and batman has to hate joker, Burton's film symbolizes that the most he killed Bruce's parents, which made batman, Batman dropped Jack Napier in the vat of chemical thus making joker. Dark Knight doesn't symbolize that it symbolizes joker as terror and not rival batman needs to save day how does that make joker anymore enemy than anyone else.

  • @germophobe14 very well said!

  • @germophobe14 I also found it funny how Burton's Batman gave us almost no story behind bruce Wayne and the origins of Batman, while the origins of the Joker were throughly explored. It is the complete opposite in Nolan's films, Batman/Bruce Wayne is concentrated on while the JOker does not have an origin, he is just is there and is "an agent of Chaos".

  • I might get slack for this but I don't care, first off i am not knocking heath ledger, he did a great job as a villian that would be in real life, but the joker is not real life it is comic book. Nicholson is the joker because that is the way he acts in the comics. Second Bob Caine the creator of Batman has gone on to say that had the Joker been invented when he created Batman, he would have made the Joker the killer of the Wayne's. Third Nicholson and Keaton have that archnemises thing going

  • Romano i'd say is the more comical.

    Hamill's is more deranged.

Nicholson is what you would see in your nightmares.

Ledger is what you don't want meet in a dark alley.

Nicholson wins my vote because he brings out the scariest factors of a clown.

  • Nicholson

  • BOTH

  • Jack Nicholson was the best

  • @WestSideVision hmm yeah i can tell you're very ignorant and age has nothing to do with it.... ive seen them all so stop being a prick, heath deserves the recognition. i dont care what you call him, heath played the best performance in any batman movie. oh? no? okay then tell me why. or just stay ignorantly dismissive

  • @itchin4scratches dude jokers best quality was his maniacal laugh

Heath did a poor job of it. It was the quality that made joker the joker.

  • @itchin4scratches

Heath Ledger played the worst Joker EVER!

The proof is the footage of ACCEPTABLE Jokers...

Not some gay cowboy that doesn't know how to properly use medication...

    Jack warned him...

  • @WestSideVision Fuck you heaths joker was the greatest

it was real instead of some piece of shit like the burton films.

  • @TheInighost While i prefer Heath's Joker, Burton's films were not pieces of shit. I dont like him calling heath a gay cowboy who cant take meds right, but the Burton films were not bad either.

  • @Joker3797 ya they were alrite but I feel they were to childish, the dark knight however was very dark and made the joker look a lot more serious, instead of in the burton films where he looks like a clown....

    just my opinion

  • @TheInighost and its a valid opinion. lol that is funny though that you would say that Burton's film's were too childish when the reason why the studio did not like Batman Returns and booted Burton out as director was because the film was too dark and had too sexual of overtones, but as far as comparing it and Batman (1989) to The Dark Knight, yes i would say that The Dark Knight was more serious, and Jack was more of a clown in Batman 89. Both had their own styles and way so i like both but

  • @TheInighost i will not fault anyone for liking only one or the other. So, you do have a valid point.

  • @TheInighost

    HAHAHAHA! That's why you fail.

  • @TheInighost

You barely deserve a response, only to say, you're a dimwitted twit, that needs to read some of your grandad's comic books, you little waste of comic book hero space.

You're a pathetic excuse for a Batman fan... All you deserve is insults for the resto of your pathetic life.

  • @WestSideVision thx!

  • Heath Ledger the best Joker?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That's like saying Dean Cain was the best Superman!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • hello, how bout mark hamill, hes fricken awesome!!

  • @box31622 indeed he is this is an extremely old video so I am sorry that mark hamil is not mentioned in it.

  • Heath is better

  • Heath ledgers joker bites the dust. He has none of his novelty weapons, hes too fucking serious the whole time, and worst of all, not once does he call batman "bats". As far as I'm concerned, Heath Ledgers take on the role was the worst one ever.

  • @m3m0ryburn3r He was meant to Take the role as a More REALISTIC Joker

  • @Standrew777 but I mean, its a movie about a comic book. Come on now. If i wanted to hear about real evil, i would watch the news.

  • @m3m0ryburn3r Lol, True, but the Director said him self he wanted to make it more modern and Realistic. But Jack Nicholson Is my Second favorite Joker

  • when it comes down to it. heaths joker would beat the fuck out of jacks. no opinion there...i mean...shit,dont front. previous jokers were a flop, this new batman really set the bar high. comonnnn if you think about it they were all just a joke before heaths role. lol fuck the other incarnations

  • @itchin4scratches

You're obviously very stupid, and very young.

  • your test is based on looks alone?

    No laughter

    No actinging

    FAIL ¬,¬

  • @Writermist read the description before you comment FAIL

  • @Joker3797

not really. it's still a fail. If you truly just wanted people to comment on who they like, you shouldn't have given your own answer. Just ask the question. :)

  • @Writermist lol dumbass I know i made that mistake and should not have said who was better in the vid but i cant change it now so i leave it up to see what people have to say about the Joker, which is NOT what you are doing, you are bitching about the quality of the video instead of taking it for what it is, a shitty vid i threw together 2 and a half years ago when i first made my Youtube account that I leave up for the aforementioned purpose. If my vid sucks so bad make your own then. Lets

  • @Joker3797

For a vid that even you say sucks you're sure taking this quite badly. ): I'm sorry if I upset you but you can't let a negative commet get to you like this.So I stated the obvious... fine... my bad but there's no need for name calling. It's not like I'm saying fail to an AMV of a newbie. I can't help but critique. It's my way of challenging people to do better instead of posting up such simple stuff that take almost no effect.

  • @Joker3797

Also it's a Joker Comparison... of course it'll get a lot of views. I made a music video with a popular song and expected a lot of views but it's the comments I wait for. Which is what you're doing. If someone said it sucked... I ask why. If I thought it sucked too I'd just agree. :) So please relax next time you get a negative comment. It's not the end of the world.

  • @Writermist lol i dont need you to tell me its not the end of the world forgive me if i get sick of people telling me what s wrong with the vid when i already know and them not seeing it for what it is. At least you were nice about it though unlike some other people I have run into on here Peace.

  • @Joker3797

You make a good point. people drive me crazy too sometimes. ¬,¬ *is thinking of someone in particular*

But we mustn't bite heads off or call names. :C

Peace back at ya ^u^ Oh by the way... Jack Nicholson and Mark Hamill<3 tops Ledger. C:<

  • @Writermist see if it gets 350,000 plus views and over 2700 comments.

  • to me Mark Hamill is the real joker :)

  • @udonthavetoknowme Agreed! His voice is amazing!

  • I like Legders Joker ... one of the reasons is because he is more .. Human? Where as the comical characters are more toony .. im more scared of him, because something in my mind says 'it could happen' .. You know what i mean ??

  • @maggiestardust

yeah i know what u mean

  • @Lunataari great !

  • the best joker is that one who kills bathman

  • Acting wise...in terms of different rolls than the Joker...Nicholson is a think a superior actor to Leadger. Joker wise they are both good....but i grew up with the old Batman...that's why i prefer Nicholson.
