@KEITHJECK At what time in the video? I believe I had that song back then and I tend to listen to Metallica when I am chasing so it could be. Most of the music early on in the video is Theory of a Deadman.
I live in Electra I been here sense about fall last year. I know that we are in tornado ally but its pretty scary stuff. Although at the same time I kind of wouldn't mind catching some footage on my cam of a tornado forming its a rare treat for me. This is amazing footage though very neat to watch.
i live in wichita falls, and saw the storm. the whole thing was spinning. it was real neat to wach..we were lucky nonthing decided to come down and stay on the ground!!!!!!
I followed it down the highway and saw a few more spinups, but the storm was over for the most part. I got on another decent storm south of there later that day, but this storm was the highlight of the day.
Nice and up close. I recorded this storm from well to the east of it. I have to be honest I didn't want the hail damage to the car I was using. I would leave a link but don't want to get in trouble. I'm usually more interested in the tops of the storm myself, but very glad you were so close and posted this video. Thanks.
That wasn't a tornado at the end. It was an downdraft caused by the tornado's passing, I believe. I think they are called Gustanadoes or something like that. They can cause damage, but nothing like a Tornado would. It's like a Dirt Devil, but it happens after the Tornado passes.
I could be wrong though. So don't quote me on it. :)
It is very possible that it was just a gustnado, but considering that the clouds directly above me were rotating quite fast and how the debris cloud bounced across the field like that, I have to say its a tornado (the funnel doesn't have to come to the ground for it to be called a tornado). I have seen hundreds of dust devils and gustnadoes (which form in completely different enviroments), none of which I have seen ever behaved like the debris cloud seen at the end of the video there.
Really great video. Some of the most picturesque scenes I have seen on a chase video in a long time. The clear slot, the hail, the updraft, the lowering and then the actual tornado on the ground. You really got it all. Keep up the great work. Always love your videos.
Haha, the cop still drove through it. Those people that drove through don't realize what they have done, they just drove through a tornado. not many people have done that before.
We went to Six Flags in Arlington the weekend before this (4-5 and 4-6 back home) and went through Electra on hwy 287. Glad we missed that storm. Great video. Thanks for posting this video! KDK
Wouldn't that be "nearly hit" Electra?

that wall cloud / scud inflow explodes right as the tornado begins to crank .....allways love seeing how things relate in storms
