  • amyna sourwtiri h ethnikh olo aifnidiasmous trwei!!

  • BOTH OF THEM WERE GREAT PLAYERS.BUT DO NOT FORGET THAT DRAZEN WAS PLAYING IN THE BEST NATIONAL TEAM OF ALL TIME.GALLIS WAS PLAYING ALMOST ALONE.ONLY THREE TEAMMATES OF HIM WERE REALLY VERY GOOD PLAYERS.GALLIS WAS THE BEST SCORER OF ALL TIME IN EUROPIAN BASKETBALL HISTORY.IF HE PLAYED IN A GREAT TIME,LIKE DRAZEN,HE WOULD WON MORE TITLES THAN HIM.DO NOT FORGET THAT WHEN NOURTH CAROLINA PLAYED A GAME VS GREECE IN 1982 GALLIS SCORED 50 POINTS AGAINST JORDAN.AND HE WAS ALSO THE THIRD SCORER IN NCAA

  • im greek but drazen was better than galis

  • In his last NBA game Petrovic, few months before his death Drazen shot 40 points on MJs face.. Not claiming he was better than MJ (nobody is, nor will be!), but I can't see Gallis coming even close to being a sucessful NBA player. That's why he never tried.

  • AND, BESIDES, WHERE WAS PETROVIC IN 1987? AND WHAT ABOUT SABONIS IN 1989? BOTH LOST IN... 3rd PLACE. BECAUSE OF NICK... RESPECT TO THE GREEK GOD OF BASKETBALL.

  • Both players were great. But Drazen was just the best player. Galis was the best team! Why? Because Galis could win the Yugoslavia team alone. And he did win them.

  • Aleksandar Petrovits once said, "Drazen is my brother and he is a fantastic player but I believe Galis is the best player in Europe"....this extract is from a statement of Aleksandar and he made it despite the fact that he and Drazen were brothers. In my opinion they were both special in their own way. If you please stop comparing these two great players. One of them is Resting In Peace and the other one has retired.

  • amazing players, it's sad because in 1993 petrovic died, he was coming to sign to panathinaikos and he would be in the same team with galis, gianakis and vrancovij,it would be an amazing team.....

  • @westcoastizback YANNAKIS WAS NOT A PLAYER OF PANATHINAIKOS IN 1993. HE PLAYED FOR PANIONIOS THAT SEASON AND MOVED TO THE GREENS IN 1994.

  • @westcoastizback YANNAKIS WAS NOT A PLAYER OF PANATHINAIKOS IN 1993-94, BUT IN 1994-1996 SEASON.

  • Gkalis cannot compare with anyone, search the internet to see 1000 great performances of him 40+ everygame and played like that until 35 years old, if they play one on one drazen had no chance ,FEW players on this planet does that for such a long period in Aris salonica or Greek national , Galis was unstopable Drazen was great also and of course have better stars teammates thean galis on this video

  • petrovic best ever. nick galis god! cant match up those two

  • με 1,83 υψος κ τι εκανε ο παιχταρας...μυθος ο γκαλης..ανεπαναληπτος

  • NOBODY OF THEM IS BETTER THA THE OTHER. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT DRAZEN HAD MATES AS RADJA, KUKOC, PASPAJLIE, DIVAC, DANILOVIC ETC. GKALIS WAS ALONE AGAINST ALL THEM!! AND HE WON THEM MANY TIMES. YOU CAN CONSIDER IF DRAZEN WAS ALONE WHAT WILL BE HAPPENED?!!!

  • @grsail1 what would happen if drazen was alone? well it would happen what happened in CIBONA 85 and 86, when CIBONA WAS TWO TIME CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE AND DRAZEN HAD 40 points per game on every game, that would happen :)

  • Both were amazing players!

  • @benjaros2

I'm aware of this one. You spoke of Seton Hall and I thought you had footage from that.

  • @benjaros2

...Υοu mean you HAVE watched him play for SH...?

    Where/when/how.

    Me wants too :)

  • @benjaros2

my dear friend, Yugoslavia is a mother of basketball!!! Don't even try to compare Galis with Petrović, Kukoč, Rađa, Divac, Paspalj, Đorđević, Danilović... And by the way, Dražen Petrović is in Hall of fame! :)

  • @neshvaceni ..my friend basketball was invented in the USA, in Springfield, Massachusettss by James Naismith, not in some Communist Country USA is the mother/father of basketball. Secondly, more importantly Gallis is the GOD of basketball in Europe, NOBODY on Yugoslavia or USSR could stop him...NOBODY!! He was playing by himself against those teams....Nick is the in FIBA Hall of Fame with Drazen (Eternal Memory) ..Please dont compare Nick with anyone ever again...that sounds very ridiculous...

  • @akrivosdiavolos73

look, it's very funny if you think that galis is better than Petrović, Kukoč, Rađa, Divac, Sabonis... he was one-man-band player who achieved one title in his career. go to usa and ask for galis, they will look at you. go ask for dražen (hall of fame, retired jersey, all nba team...), toni (3 nba rings, one of the best players of Chicago bulls in 90-ies, best sixth man...), Dino (officialy best celtics foreigner in history...), divac (nba all star, retired jersey...).

  • @neshvaceni.................NIKOS GALLIS -----> UN-STOPABLE!

Greece DEFEATED USSR 2ce....Yugoslavia NEVER beat them....

Drazen Petrovic ---> " You say i am the son of the Devil, well then Nick must be the DEVIL himself, I enjoy passing the ball to Nick and watching him score".....

  • @akrivosdiavolos73

say what you want but best yugoslavian players are way much better than any greek player in history. but ok, you're greek so you love galis most... i will repeat, only sabonis could play in this yugoslavian team. galis would be substitute for dražen...

  • @neshvaceni ....GALIS was Unstopable!! the Michael Jordan of Europe....Nobody could stop Nick..forget Sabonis, or Divac, Kucoc, he ABUSED all of them....Yugoplastika would put Kucoc or some other 7ft Monster to cover Nick (1.80cm).Nick was a giant Killer he substitutes for NOBODY! Nick played with Larry Bird in the 1979 NCAA College All Star Game...3rd leading scorer in the NCAA in 1979....Are you crazy or dumb?? Drazen bows to Nick...easily.....btw Nick is American by birth....

  • @akrivosdiavolos73

ok, we can discuss like this forever but when people talk about best european players of all time they will say Dražen, Sabonis, Toni, DIrk, Pau, Vlade, Pedja, Bodiroga, Đorđević...

  • @akrivosdiavolos73 GALIS WAS PLAYMAKER, DRAZEN WAS SHOOTER, they would both have place in team.... but don't be naive, drazen would be leader of that team... drazen didn't knew anything else, but to be leader... you see this team full of stars? DIVAC, KUKOC, RADJA, PASPALJ etc... THEY WERE ALL GREAT STARS like Galis, but DRAZEN WAS ABOVE THEM, as their lider in their own team, what does that saying to you? GALIS WAS GREAT, but Drazen was God :)

  • both were gods

  • @Ibelieve4567 ok let's say like this, DRAZEN was Zeus and Galis was Poseidon :D

  • @CroPETROforever my friend search videos on youtube and see all for gkalis and drazen and you will see that Gkalis is 11 1/2 gods and maybe drazen the half remain. Dont compare a player have make 1000-2000 amazing performances with every game unstopable as Gkalis even with a Great also player like Drazen is not fair from drazen Drazen was very good player but here in greece we see many of your players good as Drazen (Divats KuKots and 4,5 at least) also galis makes greece 1st power from nothing

  • @neshvaceni go ask michael jordan what he would say about galis he wound say that when we play against the first match he score at me 25 points and in second 50 points...

  • @neshvaceni yeah but galis' is also,in fiba's ;-)

  • If the Celtics could have signed Galis Boston would have been unstoppable.

Imagine a team throughout the 80’s of:

    Dennis Johnson

    Nick Galis

    Larry Bird

    Kevin McHale

    Robert Parish

with guys like Henderson, Ainge, Walton, and Maxwell filling roles.

  • @xmuscularghandix

I kinda doubt that Galis could fit in the same roster with Bird, McHale etc...He was a "hungry" offensive player, that wouldn't conform with the role of the point guard (that obviously would be the one for him to take up at least in that specific Celtics' team). I'd sure call it "destiny" getting to Europe and becoming the legend that he did.

Damn, I just found DJ died some 3 yrs ago....

  • best starting five...Zdovc , Petrović , Kukoć , Rađa , Divac....

  • I'll never compare these players. The one learned to play in the States, the other in Europe. Back in these days, that was really important even in the way one bounced the ball.

But none of them is garbage. Galis averaged more than 30 points wherever he played, not just in Greece. He even averaged 28 points as a college player in the NCAA against players such as Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

The NJ Nets wanted him in 1987, but he was old and did not take the challenge as fearless Drazen did..

  • @Skatastamoutrasas Gallis has been the most impressive non long shooter gun machine in Europe (and the most clever scorer). About Petrovic, nothinhg to say for any person who has seen the genius. But I want to say something about that game: the yugoslavian team in 1977-78 was more fun, but this Yugoslavia 1989 is probably the european best balanced team ever, with the USSR 1985.

  • @Skatastamoutrasas galis was the 3rd scorrer back then .... Larry bird was the first i think.....but he choose to come to greece because some greek teams were giving more money when he was till young ... i think he would make a really good at NBA too.......

  • @13stipan Drazen was a great player, but to call Galis garbage shows your IQ,

  • @13stipan Drazen Petrovic is my basketball and human rollmodel and idol from my childhood, but you are wrong to say that Galis was "garbage" because than you don't know anything about basketball... greets from croatia

  • @13stipan HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT GALIS IS GARBAGE? HE SCORED MORE POINTS THAN PETROVIC IN THE FINAL AND IN THE TOURNAMENT ON THE WHOLE, AS HE ALSO DID IN 1987 AND 1991. SHOW SOME RESPECT...

  • Galis was all alone against yougoslav stars...thats why i vote for Galis .

  • Galis tribute to basketball was bigger than Petrovic... Galis average score for his 15 years career was 31 points.....!!!!! Average!! for 15 years!! And always gold or silver and always all alone... No radja, no kukoc, no paspalj,... Only Jordan i can accept as a better athlete... Galis has been a miracle for Greece...

  • and if Petrovic didn't exist nothing would change.... Yugoslavs already had a dream team.. Radja would do even alone.. But if Galis didn't exist the whole Europe would be bored to see Serbs Vs Russians again and again and again, thanks to Galis Sabonis was never gold! nor Petrovic in 87..

  • Galis was no doubt a great player. Petrovic is on the other side undisputedly the best European player ever. He won everything there is to win in Europe before he was 25. IN the process he did that both with average teams (Cibona 85-86 was mediocre without Drazen) and with great teams (e.g. this team in 89 had Kukoc, DivaC, Radja, Paspalj in the lineup), He also played strong basketball in the NBA. The only great gam he ever lost was the one against Greece in 87.

  • @Beneb30 yes but in 85-86 there wasn't the unbeatable yugoplastica of 1988-1990 or other such team of when galis was doing great things in the euroleague...

  • @amagginas

True, Jugoplastika's team was created after 1988 (Kukoc and Radja were just 16 year olds in 1985). Yet, Drazen won two European Championships with his mediocre team, back to back. First time against Sabonis' , Kurtainaitises'and Marchulonises' Zalgiris, and next year then against Maccabi Tel Aviv..My point is, no other player European player has ever been so dominant in the game. Again, Gallis was great, but comparing him with Petrovic would be same as comparing Lebron and Jordan.

  • @Beneb30 You are wrong here! Cibona beat Real Madrid in 1985 and Zalgiris Kaunas in 1986. In 1987, Maccabi Tel Aviv was beaten by Tracer Milan, not Cibona.

  • Gallis is the man

  • nick forever better than petrovic

  • @R3dd1M3r 2-3 years????wtf you talking about!!!!!!!!!

  • Great memories, the 2 best european players of their period.

  • @ThanosAnim of all times

  • yugoslavia of that time had amazing depth at every position. greece did not have any depth, they only had Galis and a couple more quality players. only him could not defeat Jugoslavia by himself, still individually Galis was much better than every other european player

  • galis could win a game by himself.he was always taking the ball when the things were going bad.because tough situations are for tough men

  • Drazen....i remember i was only 13 years old when he passed away...

    so sad...

he was coming to play for Panathinaikos...

    the greatest of all!RIP

  • Gallis always outscored Petrovic...It was so pathetic they would put Kucoc (7ft tall) to guard Nick (5ft 10)....YOU know the result....no difference..NIKOS GALLIS..

  • That is the stupidest thing i have read today.."Nick was NEVER a good player"..that is why he is FIBA Hall of FAME....EUROPEAN CHANPION 87, Silver Medal in 89...Nick is the TOP 5 BEST EVER from Europe!

  • For Example:

    PETROVIC 28 Points, 11 Assists.

GALLIS: 30 Points. That´s it, no Assist!

    Gallis works for Gallis!

  • Another follow up to your NONSENSE comments my German friend. Look at Drazen's former team..they were a DREAMTEAM....Just like Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls of 1991, he was the team...just like Maradona in 1986 in futbol.....hopefully you finally get it

  • @Breitnasenmaulhorn he was not simply a solid shooter...he was an unastoppable shooter...

  • Galis is God , Drazen is the son of the Devil...legends for world basletball...

  • Drazen was the best and the most complete player in EU all times.

  • MONO GALIS! MONO! Meta milame gia thn trith 8esh kai katw. Tis dyo prwtes tis exei o GALIS monos TOU!

  • the two greatest scoring guards in europe of all time

  • galis and petrovic the history of european basket!!!

  • absolutely !
