  • Grande compositore, grande musica, grande film.....

  • fuck you catholic church! fuck you cei! whoever is italian will understand...

  • also very effective as an instrumental over communion,I have played it a couple of times. I just use quiet string stops on the organ. No need for the oboe stop when you have an oboe player stood next to the console.

  • Lepo.

  • i play this on the violin!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So soothing. So peaceful. So beautiful. Masterpiece.

  • I had this as my walking up the Aisle tune, absolutely loved it!!Makes me want to buy a clarinet and learn Gabriels Oboe.

  • Beautiful

  • Beautiful

  • They played this at my mother's funeral. Think my aunt chose it. I cried then and I'm crying now. She was a great woman. Miss you Mum

  • 5 animales no han escuchado la cancion ni han visto la pelicula

  • gran film, gran fotografia, grandi attori, grande storia, grande musica

  • I listen to this song everyday. A truly fantastic masterpiece.

  • @hyochan me too, lovely score

  • My friend played this in middle school and she rocked it! Gotta say tho the trumpet part was boring. But the song is great!!

  • Nella Fantasia???

  • @babisakti The original.

  • I had this at my wedding :-)

  • What a haunting, beautiful melody.

  • we're playing this in my orchestra and I have never seen the mission (yes I know I'm missing out) but I fell in love with this as soon as we played it and that's saying something (taking into account it's only an arrangement and it was the first time we'd played it) :) <3

  • we're playing this in my school's band

  • I call for a mission to save the two souls of those who disliked this music!!!

  • @Wyndworm eh eh eh

  • Ennio Morricone.... one reason that makes me proud to be Italian ...

  • man it hits you hard its amazing!!!

  • Ennio Morricone was entirely screwed by the academy awards in 87. Granted Herbie Hancock's win is well deserved but this piece alone should have brought the academy voters to tears. It's been 25 years and this soundtrack still moves the soul.

  • my goal is to be able to play this piece on my oboe by the time i leave school so that gives me about 5 years, i have already been playing for 1 year :)

  • Гениально

  • The Mission score is one of Ennio Morricone's best works he has ever done, along with the scores of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in America"

  • SEMPLICEMENTE INDESCRIVIBILE!!! <3

  • I have frustration issues, and this is one of the few songs that calms me down.

    i love it :)

  • Senza parole....meraviglioso Ennio !!! una nipote d'Italia, da Buenos Aires mis salutti !!

  • A Song That Touches Your Feelings i think this is the kind of song that government people should listen before moving troops into the debts of hell

  • I miss playing the oboe can't wait for school to start back so I can keep playing I feel lost without it and for solo ensemble I wish I could play this song-3

  • hermosa melodia y musica, ennio supo conocer nuestra america profunda, sus dolores y hermosuras, soy americano, orgulloso de serlo, pero arrepentido de las atrocidades q hicimos

  • Hi Angel of Killjoy. You can get this mvie on dvd or hd version at any g6o dvd shop. If not on shelf ordes it in, it7 worthit

  • I have never seen The Mission, I never heard of it until my orchestra teacher had us play Gabriel's Oboe. I would love to see it. I'm only thirteen, I have no clue what it's about or what the rating is. But this song is beautiful. Although I played first violin for this song and did not try out for the solo, I know the solo by heart and play it more than anything else:)

  • Islam. That is all.

  • stunning :)

  • one of the "wow..." *drools* kind of feeling type of music. amazing...why cant the world be so peaceful, graceful and beautiful like this piece of music explains to me? close your eyes and listen. you will not want to open your eyes again.

    Replay Replay Replay Replay Replay!!!!

  • Nella Fantasia!

  • what kind of person dislikes this....shame on you!

  • @AmarMah vero!!!!!

  • I cried each time I heard this song after seeing Gabriel die.

  • @mermerchar Wow... I hadn't expected that.. you've got a fantastic voice

  • @mermerchar stupid spammer you are and I can't even find your vocal version...

sorry, but if you wanna break through you need to change a lot: from attitude to technique.

That you played some important role when you were young doesn't say anything about how you're doing now.

my apoligies for being rude, but I really don't like this kind of 'advertising'

  • @kleineschutter Don't apologize for being rude, if you are blatantly going to be rude. You know nothing about my attitude or my technique. But the rudeness of your comment tells me alot about yours.

  • @mermerchar guess you missed the point of my comment, but you're right I was a bit rude myself.

couldn't help getting a bit annoyed seeing the very same comment of yours everywhere where it says "the MIssion". Hope you understand this kind of advertising is not the way of real music. Use your time and energy more wisely. Sorry if I cannot be more clear, but you're young and you still can learn a lot (make use of that!)

  • Sorry didn't mean to do that, jI get a bit carried away

  • .....and now...i believe....

  • This sound-track is beautiful.

  • favorite part from 00:38 to 01:00

  • Beautiful, played this on piano many a time. Fighting or having God on your side, didn't make much difference to these people. When Robert De Niro, was dying after been shot, his last hoping vision was the priest Jeremy Irons wcarrying the cross would survived, he didn't.(Heartbraking seen) Might or righteousness didn't work. They guy who narrating this, summed it up, it would have been better if we had just left them alone

  • @westsarebest you might have just spoiled the ending of the movie for everybody thanx :(

  • @westsarebest The point was - the exploiters weren't leaving them alone. They were being enslaved anyway, when caught. At least they died as martyrs, having known God. This is what mission is about, introducing everyone to Jesus, as He told us to. No innocent blood is shed in vain.

  • Amazing.

Should have won the oscar for best original score, obviously.

  • @VenusElectricRecords it doesnt matter that it didnt win. the important thing is how many lives and hearts this song had touched. true it should have won, but it all in all, it doesnt matter.

  • favorite part at 0:38 - 0:45 =P

  • I love this, it was played at my my dads wedding, my step mum looked amazing! me and my sisters were bridesmades and this song will always remind me of that magical day

  • this song touches your spirit in a lot of ways, makes you think of the sacrifices in spreading the truth about God

  • When my Father died, I knew that on the day we meet again this will play, the sun will shine and I will feel his arms around me once more. Sleep well Dad, I miss you so much

  • This is the world's sadest movie. It was absolutely amazing of course, but this is the only film that has made me sob. Did you know that in Argentina, one of the most vulgar phrases was spoken by the conquistadors? He told them to "Go out" . They then went, and raped and killed the women. The conquistadors were nothing short of evil.

  • =..D

  • one of the most soul touching scores in Film History

  • A beautiful melody from a strong movie.

  • my goal in life: to learn this song. greatest song ever.

  • everything that is beautiful is in this song

  • One person tied him to the cross and sent him down the river.

  • I want to track down whoever pressed the dislike button!

  • i can play this! xx

  • This piece inspired me to learn the oboe at age 40+

Can't say I can play it this well but it's worth a try

  • To whoever disliked this piece of music:

    Are you sane?

    ~A Proud Oboist~

  • They played this when we left Primary School (in 2007). The other day my String Group were doing a concert in a church. There was also a woodwind band there, and they played this. My old Primary School teacher was in the audience and she started crying! It was such an emotional day when we left St Wilfrids C Of E Primary. But i love this music =]

  • ガブリエル神父さんは、オーボエの音楽のおかげで命が救われたんですね。

  • Absolutely stunning.

A true representation of how music can touch the world, forgetting war, terrorism, hate and violence. what other art form can do this?

the reason i LOVE music and want to persue it as a career. truely breathtaking.

  • Is that timpani in the beginning? Does anyone know?

  • Now that is a song!

  • grazie Maestro....

  • Breathtaking and ethereal

  • This is the lullaby I will listen to the day I kill myself...

  • what a great piece of music

  • Don't kill yourself, dude! Let the spirit of this song stop you from doing that.

  • Actually, your message may stop me from doing that...'cause you have been the only one who has answered me back. I still have a question though...Do you think there will be hope for a better tomorrow?

  • I wrote something under your account. Rrad it. The comments you can write on a a viewer comment was not enough to answer the question given. :)

  • There are things in this world that can ease your pain. You should stay here. We need you.

  • Get help man, play this when you're going in peace.

  • If you embrace the spirit of this music then be a gift to humanity, sacrifice your life in service to others till your dying breath.:^)

  • fantastic!a great film also

  • Touching, goosebumps, a wonderfull, beautifull melody. Personaly, in my opinion, one of the best soundtracks ever made..... x

  • Amen. It is stunning.

  • @19Marah72

I would disagree--not one of the best--the best!

  • Great Movie and Score,One of Robert DeNiro Best films.

  • lindo, mavilho,trás pás nos nossos corações.

  • The beginning of the film asks a very subtle but very relevant question - why mess with another culture by trying to enforce ones faith/religion on that people ?? had they been left alone, the natives wud have probably defended themselves well - all over the world, these jokers spreading the word of god whom none can see, speak to or hear in PERSON, have created mayhem and continue to do so!

overall, a brilliant film! and an even more brilliant score!

  • Missionars are people like everyone so they make mistakes. At the begining of the movie you see a missionar get killed maybe couse he did not find the right way to speak the words from the Bible. Even if they are wrong, I believe they do this only to help those people, so not trying to enforce their faith/religion. However this is my opinion. If you try you will be able to see, hear and speak to Him. Peace be with you.
