Paganini was definitely ingenial, virtuoso violinist but his compositions rely almost without exception on the prowess of his technicality. His attempts on creating music outside the restraints of constant showcase put him well behind other composers. With that said, it is quite understandable, he made a living out of being the "man who sold his soul to the devil" to master his instrument.
@violatione Hating?? I'm far from hating Paganini or any other virtuoso - I'd like to think my argument was fairly well stated and reasoned. It is merely my opinion, I wasn't attacking anyone who disagrees with me.
I also have Accardo's complete recording for Paganini's violin concerti, and while some parts resemble his playing, I still don't think it is him. I can personally hear it in the spiccato as being different than Accardo's.
@violinoamore I'm pretty sure its Salvatore Accardo, there are other videos with different images as opposed to the violin part with Accardo playing, and it sounds like its the same track
@CrockSkinTesticles I've listened to Accardo's complete Paganini recordings over and over for years, most of the playing here sounds like someone else to me....shifting, timings....etc. Very precise though like Accardo. Maybe this was a much earlier recording of his, but I'm gonna go with my gut in saying its someone else =)

he was my 8th great uncle, i found out when i was like 9, but if he is one youtube he must have been way way famous. somwere down the line the name changed from paganini to mccswiggen, mccswiggen to eager, and eager to pratt.
Little hint, you can't find part 2 coming from part one. Only because I had the link from the Dutch radio 4 forum I was able to find the continuation. Could you make a link in the "more" section of part one video. Very nice to follow the circus works... :) Thanks for uploading (and staying up all night to make it!)

@AlsatianCousin Quit hating! His music is as good as anything that Rossini, Clementi or Donizetti ever composed.

Cute vibrato and well regulated thrills. I really liked this interpretation. I think his playing is a bit too harsh sometimes.

I saw Slavatore Accardo on the sleeve. What a pleasure to know you and to listen for the harmonious notes. A delight.
