@putr3zka: I also discovered what an incredible musician Prince is only a few weeks ago. You have to hand it to him. Search on Youtube for his rendition of the Temptations "Just My Imagination" and "TheOne/Gingerbread Man". Just fantastic music-making.
I like it! For many artists girls are not so precious then their art. As one of them I say it because of some incredible enigma that comes during process of creation. You never know what it comes. And Girls? You know... they apprehended. So, what is more precious then GIRLS? Watch now on my channel!
@Bigbluesboy Yes, very much so, but the general public fails to recognize him as one of the worl'ds great guitarists and mainly knows him for things like Purple Rain.
@putr3zka This is common knowledge to most hardcore Prince fans. If you've ever been to one of his legendary aftershows when he just jams on whatever he is feeling, you'll hear some of the best guitar playing in you ever heard in your life.
this is an example of why guys like prince can perform forever. he's a musician and can fall back on his outrageous ability to play guitar, keys, drums...he can sit in the back and just jam with a band...a performer like michael jackson becomes obsolete as they age because mj was a singer and dancer...hard to keep dancin as you age, but a musician can play instruments forever
I came up thru the Hendrix days and I have to say, although a pioneer and new guitar technology, Jimi couldn't hold a candle to Prince. I dont think SRV could either. Maybe Mark Knopfler and his unique style...
@carmanwilly Yeah, I wouldn't read that much into Prince's tone or playing technique :-) He'd get "cut" by a lot of guitar players if he every joined them on stage. Greg Howe, Steve Morse, Joe Santriana, Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson. He's definitely one of the greatest vocalist/singers out there, though. Don't get up on a stage to sing with him, unless you really have impeccable vocal technique. He's got perfect pitch, plus he can re-harmonize on the spot.
Go see him play live if you get a chance. I don't think he would get "cut" by too many guitarist. I have seen Eric Johnson live twice. I have seen Steve Vai and Kenny Wayne Sheppard live. Prince can hold his own. Go see him play live if you get a chance. He is virtuosic when he plays live.
Eric Clapton has commented that Prince is his favorite guitarist. That is pretty high praise.
@petsnowflake I've been to more than10 "live" Prince concerts, since 1978 :-) He's an exceptional musician, all around. Untouchable, vocal-wise, Guitar playing? Really good as well. Being "cut" is not derrogatory. Almost every famous jazz pianist got "cut" by Art Tatum, on one of his really "on" nights. It didn't mean he was "better" than them, just that some of the solos he played, pushed the envelope past virtuosity. Never heard Prince do that. Heard Greg Howe do it a couple times :-)
I came up thru the Hendrix days and I have to say, although a pioneer and new guitar technology, Jimi couldn't hold a candle to Prince. I dont think SRV could either.
This is freaking awesome!!! Why he keeps so much stuff in that vault is beyond me....he could be making a ton of money and making alot of people happy if he'd just release this stuff. He's my favorite guitar player of all time!!!
@daphnerh1984 He couldn´t release this, because its from the Rolling Stones ;) Nevertheless you're right, he is so brilliant and has so many songs unreleased! I would love it if he did an album cover, but I do think that than he should allow others to cover him as wel..
Love him on guitar!!! The man is so underrated as a guitar player... Prince on guitar and John Blackwell (not in this clip) on drums, OMG... Could listen all day
stop the camera crap and just show the guy

One of his first gigs was opening for the Rolling Stones back in the day. This song represents a full circle in his career.
