  • Too bad there's not an english patch in sight...

  • Comment removed

  • so happy advance wars they cut alot of the slow animations like the capture animations and getting on APC animation. but i like how advance wars kept the basics like the gameplay and look of most units and scenery (well except for in days of ruin which i hate)

  • In my opinion, this game is better then Advance Wars.

  • Ahh, I remember playing this game years ago. I never knew that there was a "... Wars" game for SNES before.

  • so orange star and black moon already existed back then

  • Haha Japanese make the best game ever :D

  • @scatman765 naah the one for the nes was

  • is there an english patch for this game?

  • @scatman765 Not actualy, this is the second one, the first one is famicon wars.

  • Lol now I see where advance wars began

Anti tank guns and battle ships on days of ruin are win!!!

  • I can recognize some sprites :D

  • @scatman765 the real one is for the NES RETARD

  • @angus506 this one feels alot closer to the advance wars we know.. was also on gameboy and gameboy colour

  • Even the intro is reminiscent of Famicom Wars!

  • @scatman765 This isn't the first advance wars, the first was FAMICOM Wars for the NES

  • seriously, advance wars should be more like this...the later titles starts to become more serious & depressing (Days of Ruins)...the humor is what makes this one of the best

  • @NintendoMan640 but the humor in the AW series is pretty pathetic, i prefer the dark theme from Days Of Ruin

  • @Anemite That's cool but I personally find the "dark" and "angtsy" games to be wearing thin. I love Days of Ruin too but I can do without the amo crap.

    To each their own.

  • @ChicoEdge I've learned to appreciate the music of Days of Ruin, but that art style/story.. they desperately need to change it in the next Advance Wars game.

  • @scatman765 actually no, Famicom Wars on the NES was the first "Advance Wars"

  • @D3TOSS well then why did i get so many thumbs up lolz

  • @scatman765 because they thought your right

  • Why am I feeling nostalgic, even though I've never played this game?

  • Why not america!!!!

  • There was even an Advance Wars for NES too. This really makes me wonder why the hell some of the Japan only games never made it to America or Europe

  • @Ladomendigo

Lagrange Point is one of the nes games I wished they bring over the to NA market. Most likely cause that game had a special sound chip and you know standard NES consoles can't use these expansion chips.A real same.

  • wow i never knew advance series went this far back, the lil animations are jokes, and the intro is awesome, the way the infantry just jumps onto the t-copper is just pure awesome.

  • I didn't realize the super famicom had this good graphics o-o

  • @MilkChocolateRain well this game was made 1998.

  • @scatman765

Actually it's the third in the series..

  • Famicom Wars Series (not including Hudson wars games)

    Famicom Wars

    Gameboy Wars

    Super Famicom Wars

    Gameboy Wars Advance/Advance Wars

Gameboy Wars Advance/Advance Wars 2 (gameboy wars advance & 2 not released in Japan until 2004 in bundle pack because of 9/11 crisis)

Famicom Wars DS/Advance Wars Dual Strike

Famicom Wars DS Ushinawareta Hikari/ Advance Wars Days of Ruin/Dark Conflict (not released in Japan for unknown reasons but able to be played in japanese with AR cheat code)

  • @JSWUDNN

There's a Game Boy Wars 3. And no, it's not basically the same as Game Boy Wars 1 like Game Boy Wars 2 and Game Boy Wars TURBO were.

  • @MasterKnightDH like I said on my list It does not include hudson developed games(game boy wars TURBO, game boy wars 2, game boy wars 3, and the never released 64 wars) forgot to say i did not add kuju developed games(battalion wars, battalion wars 2, battalion wars 3DS?) either

  • Anyone got an English translation rom?

  • are there any in english

  • One must have lots of patience if they are to endure those time wasting animations

  • @scatman765 Actually Famicom Wars was thge first.

  • This is friggen awesome. It shows cool animation for a copter dropping an infantry. :D I love this game.

  • Why can't the Advance Wars's intro be this awesome?

  • its actually the real second advanced wars, the real first advanced wars is just "famicom wars" rather than super famicom wars

  • i fan subed rom would be aswome. i would love to play this game.

  • OMG 2hp infantry OHKO's a Giant tank

  • @zoopark2500

1 HP, actually. Units are in 10s in SFW, not 5s.

  • I know the names of the COs chosen

    Red Star: Fon Rosso

    Blue Moon: Rojenski

  • Love this game and the original... and actually all versions!

  • hey could anyone record a playing of the map of Royal Channel (found in the classic folder or in AW1 the special folder)? That map is fun.

  • Go ahead, do it.

  • Comment removed

  • Record a playing of the map. If no one else is doing it, why don't you?

  • i meant in SWF. i don't have this game.

  • Ok, then I hope someone takes your request

  • hmmmph... they could have made the battle scenes in AW and SFW a little more realistic. at least in Gameboy wars they had shots miss and people flying around when hit by explosions. and a bigger battle field. in AW when Infantry were destroyed they just were standing and flew off the screen when in Gameboy wars the infantry actually moved their legs and arms when killed.

  • ya know that guy who says, GO! GO! well in the first game when the AI is thinking of what to do, he says, "ummmm..."

  • Comment removed

  • The animations are so awesome!!Shift+1!!

  • Comment removed

  • ya know when orange star captures cities? it kinda looks (and sounds like) mario and that golden star. WTF 10 GUNSHIPS IN A SINGLE FLEET? Wait a minute... Would they have 10 BATTLESHIPS IN A SINGLE FLEET?!?!?!?!?!? BTW Orange star's theme is awesome in this game. it sounds awesome, i wish i could've gotten this game...

  • Comment removed

  • It's really awesome to finaly see the ancestor of the advance wars series.

If this would be translated, i think i'd like it better then the advance wars series, cuz i love this game's humour and cartoony style way better than the advance wars games, especially the new one wich is all serious and realistic looking.

  • Dohoho. The same company made both. The Advance Wars games are just a continuations of the series. The Wars series started on the NES.

  • I NEVER KNEW! But since i found this out - i wanted to.

  • lol this game likes advance wars

orange star blue moon hee wow

  • There was a game similar to this on the SNES but it had real life vehicles and weapons and not this kiddie stuff like in advanced wars.

  • Wow, I didn't know this wasn't released until '98?! Seems funny that advance wars only came out 3 years after...

  • Lol, tank erection!

  • lol this looks like such a happy go lucky game.

  • This game owns!

  • HOLY CRAP!!! This is what happens before the origonal Advance Wars for GBA. O_O

  • Infact, the Nintendo Wars series started back in 1988 with Famicom system!!

  • This game wasn't released until '98? Wow, this had to be one of the last games that came out for the SNES.

  • One of the last, but the SNES had a very long lifespan in Japan, wikipedia says that they didn't stop making games on the system until 2000.

  • wow this game seems alot better than advans wars its funnyer to

  • All these maps can be played in AW: DS and AW: DoR

  • Hehe, looks like fun! =) Hope we will get it to Virtual Console! Fact:They had to change the color of the star from red to orange because the red star refered to the red star of communist Russia! xD

  • The inro was hella funny

  • Huh... well this certainly is alot more cartoony then the newest games. Thank Gods...

But hey, I can really see how the series originated from this. The flags are even Red(Orange) Star and Blue Moon!

  • It's just like the one in Famicom Wars, except more tanks come.

  • Love the intro!

  • Now I know where Advance Wars Came from.

  • is this in english to?

  • man, why was this never released in the US? this game series is great.

  • Hooray for Super Famicom Wars! Man, I think that the best unit ever in a wars game was the Assault Fighter.

  • this game seems to have some exclusive units (there were a couple i didnt recognize)

  • How come in the Wars series YOUR units are usually red, but in Fire Emblem your units are blue? (both series are made by Intelligent Systems)

  • No idea, but in the Nintendo games, the coloring is for players

!st through 4th are in the usual order: red, blue, yellow, green

Check out the Super Smash Bros. series to confirm.

No idea why, but I understand that red vs. blue is a basic color scheme.

Ex: blue for boys, pink (red) for girls, Bloods and Crips, etc...

  • omg 10 helicopters in one unit?

  • you should have seen Famicom Wars. Try 10 BATTLESHIPS in one unit!

  • why didn't they do a wars gae for n64 ;/

  • There Was gonna be a wars game for n64 but it got canned

  • maaan why

  • do they have co powers i this?

  • i think the first co powers were in advance wars

  • That intro pwned

  • the music is very good man

  • first, wats 'FAMICON'??? and is this a real game???

    plz respond

  • ever heard of google?

    it's called "famicom" btw

    google it

  • Famicom is the Japanese version of the NES, and Super Famicom is the Japanese version of the Super NES.

  • Famicom is the Japanese version of NES.

And yes this IS a real and kick-ass game!

  • Yeah, it's the Japanese version of the SNES but we in the west are the ones to go and call it 'famicoM'; the NES was called famikoN in Japan.

  • Youre a little misinformed: the japanese character ン or ん can be used in as EITHER an "n" or an "m". Therefore, although "Famicom" is the offical name given for the system in Japan, strictly reading it it could also be "Famicon".

  • Oh my God! That looks cool. I have every Advance wars on on Gameboy Advance and the DS Lite system but I've never seen the on Famicom version. Sweet!

  • 1:50 is Nell O.O??!!

  • Comment removed

  • the animations/cut scenes are better than the advance wars series lol

  • well duh

    Super Nintendo is 16 bit

Game Boy Advacne is 32 bit

  • well, actualy the gba is 16 bit too, the ds is

    32 bit (or 64 bit)

  • no the gba is 32 bit but the processing power is weak. unlike the ps1, which was also 32 bit but had good processing. the ds is 64 bit but also has weak processing power so it cant emulate n64 unlike the ps2 which is a very powerful handheld.

  • So cute! It is hard to believe that this game is the ancestor to today's Advance Wars Day of Ruin/Dark Conflict!

By the way, that tank in the intro puts the Mega Tank in shame! ^^

  • So cute! It is hard to believe that this game is the ancestor to today's Advance Wars Day of Ruin/Dark Conflict!

By the way, that tank in the intro puts the Mega Tank in shame! ^^

  • I love the advance wars games so it would be great to play this if they translated it and released it on the vc!

  • Better than Fire emblem!!!

  • there this kid named Billy gates. You can guess what his ability is. (lots of money for the price of crappy units) my source old wikipedia article/ actual game play

  • You can briefly see, as he changes characters, a female commanding officer. That's Catherine, or as she is known in the U.S., "Nell" who is very farmiliar to anyone who played any of the advance wars series released in the U.S. On a humorous side note, just before Nell, you see the character spoofing Hitler in this game.

  • lol That blue soldier in the intro pulled a Super Mario Bros. 3 on the giant red tank.

  • Why did the stop showing the little transportation animations?

  • are all those islands the map selection? thats cool! i wish it was that way in AW.

  • I'm sure they'd be easy enough to make in the map editor.

  • some of the sprites like the air units still remains in AW and AW2, also the infantry animation is the same. very good game

  • O_O why is that soldier playing a DS if it was over 5 years away from being created??

  • he was eating lol

  • yo lo tengo a este para un emulador de super famicom esta buenisimo

  • Funny Intro! An infantry is playing games!

  • sweet xD

  • That is so funny, and cool. The fact that in the intro they actually do something is funny. The game thought, seems cool.

  • just imagine this as halo

  • this is a great game, i don't know why you take so long to figure things out, if you've played any of the advance wars games, then this should be no problem, the menus are exactly the same

  • I can't believe SNES is still official for Famicion was made in 1998 for this game?!

I never heard of it, thank you for showing

    me! :)

  • I see..so this was the original Advance wars for the GBA?

  • Yep. This is what the good guys at Intelligent Systems have been working on before Advance Wars.

  • your a bitch give me a thumbs down :P

  • The orange guys were the good guys right?

  • The orange guys are called "Red Star" army, opposite to the "Blue Moon."

So, that is Soviet vs Afghanistan.. ? probably not

  • Well the Blue moon is based off of Russia, and the Red Star was based off of America. Thats probably why the US version switched it to Orange Star.

  • And Green Earth was Germany and Yellow Comet was Japan.

...well...in my opinion, Green Earth is more likely based off all of Europe.

  • That entrance rocks.

  • was this the original advaced wars and advanced wars 2?

  • The original Advanced Wars was called "Famicom Wars".

Wiki has a decent article on the "Nintendo Wars" series.

  • yeah

  • Also, Famicom means Nintendo. This game was never released in America. I have it. I do understand some of it, since I can speak and read Japanese, but I'm not fluent in it either.

  • Famicom does not mean Nintendo. I thought it meant Family Computer, because the Japanese like to shorten thier words up. Like personacom is personal computer (that is just a guess on the romanji).

  • Famicom Wars in English means, "Nintendo Wars".

Family Computer? It is just like the way that the Japanese call Resident Evil, Biohazard? Not really.

Read closely. Super Famicom. Does that sound like "Super Family Computer", or "Super Nintendo?"

  • :P Sorry.

  • A common misconception.

  • At least I'm not the only one. :P

  • Famicom would be a shortening of "Family Computer", since the full name of the original NES was the "Nintendo Family Computer" in Japan. Nintendo is STILL called Nintendo in Japan so I don't see how "Famicom" could possibly translate to "Nintendo" just for America; it doesn't make sense at all. If you notice, in the Nintendo Wars series (at least in Japan), the games have always been called the "[system name] Wars": Famicom Wars, Super Famicom Wars, Game Boy Wars, etc.

  • Yeah...that's what I was thinking. :/ Could I be right after all?

  • ES175, Nintendo is a Japanese word... not an english word...

  • famicom is the japanese name for the snes

  • famicom is nes, super famicom is the snes, and everyone knows that

  • This wa suppost to be a reply to someone who didnt know.

and i meant to say nes cept i got confused cause this is a super famicom video.

oh and do you have the new advance wars?

  • no.

  • :( sad face

  • i wish i had a translator for this game plase post one

  • We all want one. However, you can get a almost 100% translation for the original Famicom Wars for the NES, however, you are better off playing advance wars for that.

  • I don't get it, but it remindsme of Battalion Wars and the units look cool and funny so nice video

  • You might know this game as Advance Wars. :)

  • Except with enhancements that AW has yet to see, like the invididual unit level-ups.

  • True. I really wish I could import this game (no SNES).

  • There is. If you download a SNES emulator, you can dump a Super Famicom Wars Rom into the emulator.

  • @Hafk

AW has yet to see enhancements from Game Boy Wars 3 as well.

  • @Asterwith

    You have played Battalion Wars?
