Dr Z, is it possible to clean or at least vacuum the cat hair off of a residential evaporator coil by removing the natural gas heater core below and reaching up through the hole with a vacuum ? I need to inspect my heater core anyway and it seems like less trouble and expense than removing the evaporator.
I'm thinking about also adding an access door in the plenum above the coil so I can spray it down with coil cleaner from above after I vacuum the loose dirt off from below.
hello Dr. love the vids, I learn something new every time i watch you. My question about the coil gun. Is the water stream adjustable to let more or less water through or adjustable to make the water stream wider
lol. very nice spayer for roof tops. i would perfer my long neck spayer for residential. very impressed with the chemical foam action. what brand and ratio do you use? my stuff bubbles does not break down dirt an grim like your calgon 5 stars for your clip!
Dr Z have you herd of or have any feed back about the Coil Jet portable unit by speed clean? I seen them at Johnstone.

@atcherservice1 They look like really great little units. I just don't have the kind of money it takes to buy one right now.

What NuCalgon product did you use for this video. Did you use the same solution for the condenser and evaporator?
sonitx 2 years ago
The NuCalgon product was the coil gun. I had to use an off brand coil cleaner that the school board supplies us with.

what is the way to clean coils inside smÖothê machines n iceboxes? i hate that smell of the chemical we got
itsSpecialSteve 2 years ago
You might want to use nitrogen or air to blow the dirt from out of the coil.

Great coil cleaner Dr Z. But do temps get better with this such kind of a clean?
avinko4 2 years ago
The head pressure and temperature goes down and the suction pressure will usually go up after the coils have been cleaned. It's all good.

For rinsing hard to reach places, I have one of the gardening 3 foot wands from home depot or lowe's.
Refrigeratetheworld 2 years ago
Thanks. We didn't have a wand with us that day.
DrZarkloff 2 years ago
That is very nice. How much will that hurt your wallet?

It's a real time saver with those huge coils.

Good job, baby. I guess that is a new toy that you will want. LOL

It"s all way nice when you can get inside the evaporator section with a water hole and not risk water damage to the indoor space

The return in the Trane unit is about the size of a large bedroom. Lots of room for everyone.

coil cleaning is fun. that coil was nasty. god job. over hear that would use to much water (water restrictions) but it works well.
V8Jagnut 2 years ago
You have to use a lot of water when you rinse the coils after cleaning with a harsh alkaline based coil cleaner.
DrZarkloff 2 years ago
yep. so i dont want to waist water when applying the coil cleaner
V8Jagnut 2 years ago
sweet you are not kidding. Gee that unit you are cleaning the condensing coils on sure looks to me like a TRANE Intellipak.
mechanicwarrior20 2 years ago
Congrats. You guessed it right. It's an old Trane Intellipak.
