  • This song is gorgeous but hard to listen to... my throat tightens up when i hear the lyrics... because I have been there.

  • Bawled like a baby when I first heard this and I still do everytime I rewatch buffy and get to becoming part II..The song comes in so perfectly after the end of close your eyes and its just beautiful in the moment. It seems like every Sarah McLachlan song is just perfect from her lyrics to the instruments to her voice:)

  • This song makes brings me back to Buffy, which makes me cry because I miss it. <3 Best TV show ever.

  • Goodness gracious, this is like, the theme song for the entire Buffy series....

  • this song makes me want to shed a tear....so sad

  • and my heart drops into my gut

  • I think this song is about loving someone so much you know you have to let them go, even if it makes you miserable in the process, because you know, to quote, "its better this way". Source: experience.

  • I think I first heard this song at the end of the Robin Wright Penn/ Morgan Freeman movie "Moll Flanders"...

  • Sarah Mclachlan is beautiful. Music to my heart. brings tears to my eyes. My mother and I listened to her while I was growing up. Brings back so many magnificent memories.

  • this song is peacfully beautiful

  • Buffy <3

  • How on earth can someone dislike this? It's beautiful.

  • I really want to know if the picture from 3:16 is from anything.

  • goosebumps in the extreme

  • makes me think about animal abuse.... :C

  • i hear this song when i feel lonely,,

  • ahh for heaven's sake I do not think of any type of vampire when I hear this song. what is it with you people and bringing up twilight and Buffy? -.-

  • @pinkangelfire137 The Buffy reference is because this song was in an episode of the show.

  • @pinkangelfire137 This album was huge 1998, but as an individual track, this song received notoriety for being played in the season 2 finale of Buffy.

  • @PopCulture20 then I suppose I should thank whoever helped get Sarah more views...

  • The first time I heard this was at the end credits of Moll Flanders . Sad and beautiful at the same time .

  • This song reminds me of my grandmother losing my grandfather to cancer. She's never been the same since...

    They were truly in love.

  • I remember hearing this song played at the end credits of the movie "Moll Flanders"...I loved it before the movie ever came out,and twice as much after.

  • See, I only just joined the Buffy fanworld, and I was so wrecked by the end of Season 2 that I'm afraid to go on to Season 3 because I'm afraid I'll just end up in this little crying ball of angst...

  • @KitCatch22 Season 3 is nothing. Wait until Season 5...

  • @xxkeichii Oh dear, is it heart wrenching?

  • @KitCatch22 I'd rather not say anything, because I don't want to spoil it for you.. unless you'd like me to. But yes. It made me cry, and I'm a boy.

  • @xxkeichii Nothing wrong with that, lol. Thanks for the warning, though, I'll be sure to keep tissues on hand^^

  • @KitCatch22

go for it, season 3's great :-) they dont make v shows like this anymore :-(

  • @kayleighhumphries101 I know, right??? It's like, they improved the special effects and lost the good acting and great writing!

  • @KitCatch22

yeah too right. did you ever watch roswell? (with katherine heigl, jason behr etc)? that was really good too :-)

  • @KitCatch22

just wait til you get to season 6...

  • Why did this song make me think of Wolfs Rain? >.>

I love "Sacrifice" Which was played when Buffy died in season 5 :) I didnt really remember this song.....

  • Oh i love this song D= Dammit why dont they make season 8 into a series!!!!!

  • I'm glad this song is like permanently tied to buffy =) That episode always made me cry.....

  • With the possible exception of Antony Hegarty's efforts, this is probably the saddest song in the world.

  • Like this if you first heard this song on Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Like this is you cried when you heard this song

    like this if both

  • @elcap22 OHHH YEAAA!!!!!! it always has been!!!

  • hey! great video! btw, do you by any chance remember where you got the image at 1:01? i really like it.

  • my dad like this song

  • I love this song, always reminds me of Buffy though......

  • There's something terrifying and violating yet vindicating and hopeful to find a song that describes exactly how you feel.

How do you do it Sarah? It doesn't matter, Thank you.

  • I love that almost every comment is about Buffy :) it makes me happy

  • I love buffy... and sarah mclachlan... their both just so amazing

thank god for the buffy dvd box set

  • oh buffy! I'm so sorry!!!!! I miss Angel too!!!!!!! Maybe he'll come back from hell or something like that.... eh, probably not. But we live on a hell mouth anyhthing could happen.

  • @mywillowtree98 urm,, he did.

there was a whole season about it..

then he moved to L.A and got his own show..

  • @courtarrhh oh I know. I watched the entire Buffy series twice and the entire Angel series once. That was me just being retarded.

  • Very sad song.... but great!!!

  • I miss Buffy and Angel. Tuesday nights on the WB between 7-9p were the highlights of my week.

  • I wish I didn't have to read about buffy everytime I come here to listen to this song. This music is a radiant work of warmth and hope and easily has the class and distinction to be admired for its own beauty, independent of whatever other works that used it.

  • @oldfrend

too bad for you. buffy and this song are forever intertwined.

  • @oldfrend you are obviously a twilight fan. I REBUKE YOU.

  • this song is awesome i dont see how anyone can make such a sad song though. the latse piasode of buffy is so sad. they intentiolly make her loose everything and that plus song = very sad

  • I knew this song long before I watched buffy, but now I'm definetly gonna cry everytime I hear it.

  • @Clearie552 nice tash...

  • I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I been living in the Buffyverse these last days....Season 2 rules SURPREME and this song is SOOOO amzing. And to this day, even though I have watched Buffy kill Angel and leave Sunnydale a lot...I'm crying like a dog each time again and again. LOVE the song so much...

  • I was left traumatised by this episode of buffy. I remember rocking back and forth on the floor in front of the television...to be fair, I was about 13, and 13 year old girls do dumb things like that on a daily basis, but still...bad times!

  • Stunning song - for a very meaningful ending to Buffy season 2.

  • It's not a sad song, it's a song of redemption and courage and strength.

  • @Ihatethisugh1 no its not its a song of giving up and and depression its a song that says she needs courage but at this precise moment shes so upset she cant do anything but give up x

  • WHen I watched that buffy episode... I cried. The separation between buffy, angel, and the rest of the gang was just too much to bear! I love buffy!!!!!!

  • WHen I watched that buffy episode... I cried. The separation between buffy, angel, and the rest of the gang was just too much to bear!

  • I know what's making me sad (and mad).....the CRAZY alteration of Michaelangelo's Masterpiece!!!

    (BOOING LOUDLY!!!)

  • i love buffy the vampire slayer

  • does anyone else agree with me that Buffy becoming is100 times better than the entire Twilight franchise

  • @elcap22

I think anyone who's seen Buffy would agree with that.

  • @elcap22

an episode of sponge bob is 100 times better than the entire Twilight franchise.

pls don't use "buffy" and "twilight" in the same sentence. it's blasphemy :)

  • @saar144 ha ha good point, it is blasphemy, I won't use the two in the same sentence again, I promise lol

  • @saar144 Unless of course you're talking about the awesome mash-up between the two where Buffy gets stabby ;-) It's on youtube if you want to look it up

  • @elcap22 Thumbs up to that!

  • Comment removed

  • @elcap22 I completely agree with you! I miss Buffy so much :(

  • @elcap22 That's just an insult to Buffy, shame on you.

  • @elcap22 more like 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 times better.

  • @elcap22 more like 900 gillion billion million!! I have nothing against Twilight, but those 2 episodes were way too much.

  • @elcap22 Without a doubt.

  • this song will always make me remember Buffy (season 2) and gives my goosebumps.

    Good times back then...

  • i love this song its so deep, the words and the sound of sarahs voice match my feelings right now at this monent, sad, lost, not of this world and in deep mourning for the lost and the missing, thanku for shareing its very real and comforting to hear a wonderful tune like this one when you feel like your whole world is falling down around you,

  • One of the most devastating endings to a season of a series I've ever seen, and the most heart-breakingly perfect song to accompany it. Ohhh.

  • Thought you might come...were do we go now?...ignore the buffy comments plz......I am so late its not funny...always been this way

  • Thought you might come...were do we go now?

  • your video is amazingly moving. thank you for this...

  • God, how this is relevant to some of our lives.

  • I have no shame in admitting I wept when I listened to this for the first time.

  • Where can I find the picture in this video where there is a woman surorunded by hundreds of hands pulling at her?

  • @jromero1501 have you found it cus i want to find it aswell x

  • Was watching Buffy and this episode was on...thank god for Google and that I was able to find this song! So beautiful and full of emotion.

  • i thought of this because i just watched that buffy right now so saddd!!!

  • OMG!! I cried soooooo hard when i saw this episode sad as fuck

  • I feel kind of bad, everyone here says how this song reminds them of Buffy, I know *of* the show but I never saw it. It's not like I never wanted to see it either, just never got around to it. Sounds good though, I'll check it out... This song is so moving... To me, it always reminded me of the tragic story of Spider-Man's true love Gwen Stacy, and how Peter's complicated life eventually brought about her death in that horrible incident... So haunting and full of melancholy. A versatile song.

  • @SpinalTree that's because buffy had to kill the man, er...vampire she loved because she had to save the world...again

  • @30secondstomarsKandQ I can see how it'd sort of relate to that, but the thing I'm thinking of is different... In Spider-Man, way back in the 70's, Gwen hated him cause she thought he killed her dad, then Goblin found out who Peter was and kidnapped her. He threw her off a bridge, and when Peter tried to save her with his web the stop broke her neck. The tragic irony is, his Uncle Ben died because he wasn't Spider-Man; Gwen died because he was. No matter what he does, he loses his loved ones.

  • Buffy The Vampire Slayer has to be the best series that has ever come out. Incredible actors, story lines, and [yes] emotion of music selection.

I have the complete series and watch it through often. And I usually get tears in the same spots each time. Well done, Joss. Well done!

Oh, and this song is just wonderful. :-)

  • God, the part from 0:56 on reminds me so much of some other song. I've been tearing through my music collection trying to find it but no luck, can't get it off of my mind...

  • Every time you lose someone you love, no matter how, you feel empty, and like there is no reason for you to live anymore... The one that leaves takes a part of you with him, a part that you will never get back, even if you continue your life. When you truly love, you always come back to him, even if only in a dream...

  • @andreeaelle True. Same goes for us guys who lose a girl. You're never the same again, IF your level of love was great. I've been there and live in the after to this day.

It is often nearly impossible to get out of that "same old sickly skin". Just try to live life the best that one can.

  • How can anyone dislike this song? It's so beautiful.

  • buffy and her true love angel, its just too much...

  • Every single time I hear this song, it makes me cry so much. The words move my heart. Those of you who have had to let a loved one go know what I'm talking about. Buffy knows...

  • this was the very first episode of buffy i EVER saw, and the point that they played this song was perfect. this song got me into the show haha

  • @aidinharper Yeah coz Joss Whedon and the producers of Buffy just tagged this song on the end of an episode without Sarah McLachlan or her record company knowing or caring.

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG!

  • The tears keep on coming! Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a blessing<3

  • This song is at the end of Moll Flanders...a beautiful movie of the incredible determination of a mother.

  • @LuvMy7Fuzzies ‎"We danced like sparrows within the flames of each other, fluttering and gliding in the currents of our emotions. We celebrated in the great truth I'd learned in her father: all men and women are created equal...we are one being: humankind.

    My favorite movie...

  • God BUFFY! I cried SO HARD!

  • Just saw "Becoming part 2" again and it was so tragic and amazing, Buffy is the highlight of the TV series. I miss it so much,,,

  • I don't know what's making me sad, the melancholly feeling that the song invokes or the fact that Buffy is no longer on television. It must be both.

  • @pennamb aha well said !!

  • @pennamb me too

  • @pennamb I know the feeling

  • @pennamb thats where i herd it to :D

  • @pennamb I miss BTVS soooooo much. I cried when it ended.

  • Awesome pics .... really beautiful ... great job

  • I first saw this episode when I was 6 and it made me cry. All these years later, it still makes me cry, lol. I miss this show.

  • @iRockYurSockss Obviously I'm referring to Buffy - Becoming part 2.

  • I almost drowned 2 days ago. All of my strength and courage saved my life

  • It says something about the power of that final sequence in "Becoming, Part 2" that 12 years later, this song is still associated with it (and will surely be for a long time). Buffy will always be one of the greatest shows and heroines in TV history.

  • I LOVE watching and listening to this video on a cool summer night gazing at the stars. Its sooo awesome. It makes you feel more alive and reflect on life.

  • my fave episode of this show ever!!! its beyond amazing :) and this song still has me in tears... :(

  • buffy was my favorite show when i was little, and now i still love it, my hero love it and love this song

  • este video me late un buen es uno de mis favoritos de mclachlan.

Mclachlan tiene una voz tan melancolica y hermosa.

  • buffy and angel<33333333333

  • This song will always be associated with BtVS Becoming Pt 2 for me. Brilliant matching of song to scene.

  • Buffy 4 Life!! <3

  • I was almost crying at this epi and than this song came.I just lost is :(

  • this song will always remide me of buffy and angel that last part in seson two was so sad

  • Bangel Forever ♥♥♥

  • growing up with buffy ill remember it well and ill ALWAYS have a place in my heart for buffy

  • I never watched Buffy during its original run; I thought it was just a silly supernatural action show. I never realized how amazingly well-written it was, nor how each character had their own arc. Joss Whedon is an amazing writer, he knows exactly which heartstrings to pluck.

This song was the perfect choice for the episode, and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear the song or see this episode. Season two had the best, most dramatic story arc of the whole series, in my opinion.

  • this song was perfect for the ending of Buffy episode "becoming part 2"

I watched the episode recently and I actually cried when willow said "yeah she'll be here in a while"

I cried not just because of the memories the episode brought but because Buffy is dead and because they'll never make a good show like buffy ever again

Good television is dead, just like Buffy

  • Comment removed

  • Perfect song for that Buffy episode. Glad I'm not one of the whiners here who missed out on such a great show, which is why they "don't get it".

  • Wow this song is so beautiful. I just love it. Thanks for posting it :)

  • buffy has been my favorite show since i was atleast 8, i got all the seasons, andim the biggest nerd ever. i look up her.The show is so powerful<33

  • It's a good song. I don't like Buffy at all, but the song is wonderful (In fact I relate it to something else.)

  • it truly broke my heart when buffy ended. she was my best friend

  • Omg at 2:42 it sounds like she says fuck grace! I love the song and I'm not bashing it but thats what it sounded like she said!

  • buffy!!!

  • estuve buscando esta cancion por meses

    Gracias por subirla xD

  • yeah i remember this episode in Buffy .. but i'm pretty sure this song has play in One Tree Hill ... when Quentin is dead

  • wow almost all of these comments are buffy fans:) its funny bc this song was used in buffy in only one episode yet it seems to stick to everyone's mind that its a "buffy song". I only learned about this song from watching buffy hehe. And why do you hate buffy fans thekymberlie?

  • @ElysianxFields well, it was a potent buffy episode. i remember watching this live and just feeling so depressed, and yet not lost.

  • Buffy was probably one of the greatest shows ever put on television

I would love to see a Buffy reunion movie or Buffy season 8

    Buffy forever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • Is this the end of Becoming?

  • @djduchesse the end of becoming part 2

  • Dont LEAVE BUFFY COME BACK THIS MINUTE U DIRTY LITTLE SLAYER YOU:(((

  • the best episode of BUFFY!!!

  • @car250389 with the saddest ending :( i got all teary when she had to kill Angel instead of Angelus, just like Sarah M.G. i think Buffy and Angel should have been together by the end of the show, the two actors make their characters so great that you can only love them despite their flaws...still one of the best show i've ever seen

  • Enjoyed this beautiful song.

  • amazing!

  • epic song, epic pictures, epic video

the angel in the tree is the best pic imo

    good job, favourited :)

  • im sure that miss mclachan didnt expect this to have the effect it did when released but my god no song could of been better for this episode of buffy! it will always ALWAYS be the song of angel and buffy for me !

  • @tarzanspants buffy is the reason i cry every time i hear this song ad the reason why i love it so much!

  • love this song its so reminds me of buffy in its best days love that show forever xxx

  • buffy was the best show

  • You did a great job with the pictures!

I've always loved this song, ever since I first heard it over the final episode of "due SOUTH" in 1998. Keep coming back to it, it's so beautifully haunting!

  • nice pics = D

  • I remember it from Buffy, but there's been a lot of hard things in my life lately and I feel like I can relate to this song.

  • Buffy!

  • I never knew what the words for this song meant until recently. Its such a sad song that just speaks volumes for how I feel right now.

  • hope you feel better then

  • That was such a good episode.

"No weapons, no friends, no hope... what do you have left?"

    "Me."

Buffy is so empowering to me, even as a male. There's a little bit of Buffy in all of us.

  • @oneazariah God bless ya Sir. I salute you :) Buffy's my hero and I don't care who laughs at that. She is one tough human being even if she is ficticious lol

  • @oneazariah I SO agree! Nice to have a man say that!

  • @oneazariah i agree. so many people don't understand how amazing the series really was. it was thought too much as a silly fantasy story but the morals, emotion, and everything behind it was so amazing and i was heartbroken when it ended.

  • @oneazariah I just watched this episode again, it's been a few years. Buffy is a very inspirational character, and the end of this episode was, in my opinion, the most emotional moment of the entire series.
