nice install man, i put some 10k on my brothers 04, but directly to the factory harness, but the problem is that they flicker. Is that what the relay kit is for? I'm asking b/c i just put some in my 07 300 and they flicker only sometimes when the car engine is off. I've been researching A LOT and i came to the conclusion that it might be the computer trying to reset them, b/c they flicker just barely, like if it was the engine vibrating them, but sometimes they completely restart. Any idea? TY!
you can plug the cable into the ballasts 2 ways... we found that out when we thought a ballast was bad and we got another kit that did the same thing, lol
@shokher99 not any more then the stock halogens did. I think people bitch about NOTHING here too much. On the road, nobody ever flicked their brights at this car. Aiming them properly is key.
just installed futurevision hid on my tahoe for the low's 6000k and highs 4300k after watching this video and your right you get what you pay for. Very satisfied with their products money well spent especially after hearing the ebay horror stories from people who purchased lights off of there only to have them fail shortly after.
Nice HIDS but you should have gotten HID projection headlamps with the bulbs that way you would have a better area of focus for you HIDS and it wouldn't blind oncoming traffic
The fact that you got your 2 boys working with you is awesome ! I worked on cars with my dad and my boys will be doing the same thing very clean install man ! I dig it
hey steve! i have a serious question for ya....i recently got a mechman voltage boost modual....and i set it for 15.5 cold and now my HID's wont even come on....but if i turn it back down to 14.4 only 1 light will come on now....ballast problem or bad bulbs to?
I have a truck with 35 inch tires and a 6 inch lift and no matter what lights you have in that truck, you are bound to blind the hell out of someone. As a matter of fact, the lights are no different in a car, so technically, if they will blind you in a truck, they will blind you in a car. Just saying. BTW, I had more problems with the factory lights than I do now with the HIDs.
My dad had the same lights on his '06 1 ton. they are some super dim lights so that they don't blind pedestrians. on the first day of having his truck he got them replaced with half decent ones.
Nice and thanks for the vid. Hey I was wondering what turns the headlights yellow, like the front plastic cover ? And one time I was on the Interstate 10 freeway and I saw some guy driving and his head lights covered all the lanes in the interstate 10 which is about 6 or seven lanes. After doing the install on F150, was there a "Check left or right headlamp" error. Cuz i did the install on 06 Explorer and i get that error even though the HID's are working
I know this vid is about 2 years old but for the hid kits now dont you just plug them right in? Like you dont have to ground it and connect it to the battery or do you?
@AlexR4513 not if it is a dual beam hid bulb. there are some companys that make a kit the have a hid bulb as the low beam and have a little halogen for the high beam in the same bulb, those just connect to the ballast and bulb harness. connecting to the battery powers the relay to switch the bulb to high beams.

Hey man, I had a question and need some help installed H13 6000k HIDs on my 05 F150 pretty much the exact way you did, they worked for a day and now they dont come on, checked all my connections like 10 times, looked at the fuses to. Any advice?
@ridehonda365 Did you check the ground? Are you using a relay harness? Maybe it's a bad relay - check to see if you hear a click from the relay when you switch your lights on. As long as you go with a lower wattage HID, your housing will be fine. I'd say go with a 35W kit. It's less concentrated heat on the housing vs. a 55W kit.
Vehicles equipped with reflector HID headlights either a) have a reflector that is already designed to deflect the hotspot of the beam outward in a linear pattern, or b) the sleeve that wraps around the bulb has a shield that cuts off any light to the part of the reflector that deflects the light out and upward. The newer Ford truck headlights seem to do a decent job at this. However, it's the color of the bulb that is the issue. Anything higher than 6K is a PITA for oncoming traffic at night.
@Dizzles it takes about 20 minutes to install these. some newer vehicles it takes longer because of the way the factory wired the headlights. 2011 dodge avengers can take about 4 hours to do.
@sethakym im gettin some for a 94 escort i just gotta figure out where im gunna put the bullasts and all that in. i got little room to play with in there
i am experiencing flickering and occasional shut off of my hids (But only when the car is on) I have a 2006 mustang gt an i got hids for the outer main lights not the fog lights. Do i need a relay kit or an anti flicker capacitor? or both? i also just ordered hid kit for the fog lights to so i will have to kits together for the car. What do i need to stop the flickering and shut off???
I laughed looking at the comments where people say they blind you. HID's or even extreme whites are easier to look straight into. Not to mention much safer. also HIDS can be focused/directed.. My car will adjust the lamps to project with the left lamp slightly lower to help oncoming drivers
one question... why do you have to ground your wires at all? the metal you are grounding into doesnt have any electricity flowing into it, so what is the point of grounding wires at all?
because there is always a chance of electric shock, (very minimal) for example the wire gets damaged, not only the xenon set is grounded, a lot of electric and electronic devices into the car are grounded, check the screws on the top of the front suspension
im just wondering how do they lock in if you dont use the retaining ring from the halogen lights O.o
this is to all of thoes who think hids in halogen projectors are legal and do hid bi-xenon retrofits
sorry but these are illegal
actually these kits are more legal then a retrofitting a headlight
if you retrofit your making a DOT legal light and making your own (these lights after retrofitting are not approved by the department of transportation or what ever it is in the us
(Correction)-1999 Chevy Tahoe...How would HIDs' hold up in below 0 weather, would adding projector style kit to the front by replacing the stock make a difference, and would you recommend 5000k, 6000k, or 8000k for some one with loss of vision?
Sup Meade916, thank you for the info about HIDs'. I am the proud owner of a 1996 Chevy Tahoe and I have inquired about replacing my old lamps with a HID system. By viewing your installation process as well as the before and after clips makes it certain that I am interested in getting the HIDS'. I have loss vision in my right eye and with the normal lamps on rainy nights as well as driving at night are especially nerve wrecking to me. How would HIDs hold up in below 0 weather ?
yeah they look cool but you have to remember your truck sits up higher than most peoples cars. People always flash there lights at me or give me the finger because I involuntarily shine my lights right in there eyes and they think I have my brights on. I dont, its just because my truck sits higher than most cars. I cant even begin to image the amount of people you pissed off with those in. hahaha, I say fuck yeah but you know people are getting mad at you.
@rockshox911 I've never heard of anyone crashing because they were blinded by glare. You do know that cops really don't mess with the whole aftermarket hid's anymore right? If this kind of stuff is such a concern for you then do something about it, instead of getting on here and bitching.
@FridayNightLights321 did i say anyone has crashed? no, i said it is possible and from what i have read on several car forums alot of people are against it.
i have hid's in my projector housings too and i really dont care.
@rockshox911 Whoop de fucking do you have your hid's in projectors that makes you so awesome now. All of you fags who are against it I can all cry together because nothing is going to change. So stop your whining and deal with it little girl.
@rockshox911 How am I assuming anything when you clearly said that you had your hid's in projectors? Now you're the dumb fuck. I can't help you suck at typing and at life.
wow you boys are fag there just lights lol ive got a brighter light then all them a LAZER beat that i hold it in my hand press a button there you have it a lazer that pops balloons now thats cool oh yeah my LAZER can hit over a 1000 miles tooo oh yeah oh yeah and it can blind you to ill stick it in all your eyes then your never see you aka car lights lol GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i installed 10000k hid light kit on my 03 malibu. but for some reason when i aim them at the wall yhey arnt striaght, the one on the right is higher than the one no the left, if someone can please help me and tell how i can fix this please?..and dnt tell me there cheap because i paid 250 for them.
i installed 10000k hid light kit on my 03 malibu. but for some reason when aimed at the wall, they arnt straight, the one on the right is higher than the other. can someone please help me please?..and please dont tell me there cheap, cuz i paid 250 for them.
@meade916 I was thinking about getting some for my equinox, but I dont want that scattered shit look. I have some for my Infiniti, but those are factory, so its a lot different look than aftermarket. Also will I get pulled over with this shit? I do a lot of out of town and highway driving, I dont want any shit from pigs.
Where did you buy your kit.. i would really like to get some Hid's but i don't want to get somewhere that is sketchy... Send me a message or whatever thanks.
I bought HID lights and installed them. They flickered so I bought a antiflicker thing. Hooked it all up it still flickers. I hooked em up to 05 toyota tacoma they worked fine,
What did I do wrong or what is wrong with my 2008 F-150? any help would be
the only people that have a problem with HID headlight are the ones that dont know where to get them at..trust me once you get your hands on some HIDs you will never go back to stock..
I couldn't agree more. I sold my 8000k single beam hid's a while back and had to put my silverstar ultra bulbs in for about week until I my new hid's came in and it just wasn't the same. I'm never going back to stock.
Done Deal!!!! Good Looking Out.........Got me cracking-up {Even a 12 year old Kid could do it}. Just bought me a Set on E~Bay. Can't wait till it comes so I can have the same effect like your Truck.
I specifically do not know why certain Folks B--ch about HID coming towards them when it comes Manufactured Factory for Import Vehicles. Some Folks, talk about it should not be Factory Equipment at all. They mainly complain that it is too Bright Intensity when the Vehicle come towards you.
@150Spoke9 thats because most of the time, people install HID's in halogen housings. causing it to scatter the light all over the place. If you install it into a halogen housing, you need to fix it by adjusting the height of the beam. typically, you should run projectors with HID's, which give it a better output than halogen housings.
i got a f-350 and i wanna get the 8000k hids. but my truck is lifted 8 inches. will the hids be to bright to oncoming traffic? i got some aftermarket headlights now, but i really want the hids. please help me with this!!
@classicchevydriver Stock lights on a lifted truck will be bright. I would just do the HIDs regardless cause you'll be flashed with stock lights even.
i have HID bulbs that have high and low but it has two extra wires "red wire and black wire" coming from a little bulb by the other bulb it has so what does that mean the i have to buy two sets of what???
hids are no different then people running with fucking high beams on and not shutting them fuckers OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hell i just ordered a set of hids for my blazer and just like meade916 said If they are aimed right, they shouldnt bother anyone..........................PS ill take my hids out when assholes stop running there high beams when i get them hids good video 5 stars
actually its a LOT different. Halogens on high beam are much more annoying then a properly set, set of HID's. Its not how bright they are its where you aim them.
@blackhalk24 Focus Eye HID lights are made for reflector housings (cars that didn't come with projector housings). You can adjust the focus of the beam manually on the HID bulb and adjust the height of the beam with a keychain remote.
And no I'm not bitching and whining. I was going to buy these lights for my 08 Escape, but with a little THINKING, it appears I almost made a dumbass move. Be a man and stop getting offended at people talking LOGIC.
I think some of these comments about not using a projector is right. Why are you attacking people because they are talking sense? You look like a fucking moron. I have seen these lights on trucks and they look stupid. Don't get offended because people are pointing something out to you called REALITY. Using a halogen reflector with these lights is a stupid and unsafe move
@oxycodonez actually i have allready said that projectors are better - but the HID conversion isnt as bad as people think. Some people, like you, are pussies. If they are aimed right, they shouldnt bother anyone - same for the Halogen. Anyway, anyone who complains is just being a pussy IMO. How is that for reality?
@jap760 Ive Got the exact same truck and HID's, and i think i know which part you are talking about (the one hooked up to the majority of the wiring with the little 4 prong cap you have to remove right?)the little black box mounts straight to your stock harness. From personal experience i recommend creating some sort of bracket for your ballast to mount as opposed to using that sticky tape shit they give you
hahah, i have the same truck model.... i can tell you wernt wearin your selt belt because of the dinging noise at the end... lol i unbluged that... haha
the kit brings in a newer technology to your car. these are strictly gas filled xenon bulbs. there is no filament. they are like incandescent lights but way more powerful. they emit 3 to 5 times the amount of light at the regular halogen. the ballasts are voltage boosters to get the electricity to fluoresce across the xeonon gas. it runs at the same temperature, uses less electricity and emits much more light. in 10 years every new car will have hid's.
Too much glare. The light scatter is all over your garage. If you want to have HID you should convert them properly and only have them in a projector lens, not a halogen reflector. Do it properly or don't do it at all.
yeah really cars newer than like 2004 do a pretty good job of pointing the light in the right place. yeah against the garage there is some refraction, but it's hardly anything. you get to complain when there are hid's pointed 100 feet out from the car. the ford is shooting farthest at 50-60 feet. i have no problem with these. stop being a hater.
nice install man, i put some 10k on my brothers 04, but directly to the factory harness, but the problem is that they flicker. Is that what the relay kit is for? so time wise how long did this take cause i know the vid is edited so could it take like 20 minutes top?
Dizzles 1 year ago
@Dizzles it takes about 20 minutes to install these. some newer vehicles it takes longer because of the way the factory wired the headlights. 2011 dodge avengers can take about 4 hours to do.

i am experiencing flickering and occasional shut off of my hids (But only when the car is on) I have a 2006 mustang gt an i got hids for the outer main lights not the fog lights. Do i need a relay kit or an anti flicker capacitor? or both? i also just ordered hid kit for the fog lights to so i will have to kits together for the car. What do i need to stop the flickering and shut off???
THANKYOU!! :)
SeanBallaWaller1 1 year ago
I laughed looking at the comments where people say they blind you. HID's or even extreme whites are easier to look straight into. Not to mention much safer. also HIDS can be focused/directed.. My car will adjust the lamps to project with the left lamp slightly lower to help oncoming drivers

one question... why do you have to ground your wires at all? the metal you are grounding into doesnt have any electricity flowing into it, so what is the point of grounding wires at all?
cartzar 1 year ago
@cartzar
because there is always a chance of electric shock, (very minimal) for example the wire gets damaged, not only the xenon set is grounded, a lot of electric and electronic devices into the car are grounded, check the screws on the top of the front suspension
harmankardonbose 1 year ago
im just wondering how do they lock in if you dont use the retaining ring from the halogen lights O.o
this is to all of thoes who think hids in halogen projectors are legal and do hid bi-xenon retrofits
sorry but these are illegal
actually these kits are more legal then a retrofitting a headlight
if you retrofit your making a DOT legal light and making your own (these lights after retrofitting are not approved by the department of transportation or what ever it is in the us

(Correction)-1999 Chevy Tahoe...How would HIDs' hold up in below 0 weather, would adding projector style kit to the front by replacing the stock make a difference, and would you recommend 5000k, 6000k, or 8000k for some one with loss of vision?
DirtyHands1990 1 year ago
@DirtyHands1990 6000k definately!
kjwade 1 year ago
@DirtyHands1990 I live in Alaska and they work just fine in -30 degree weather. I would go with 6000k.
sethakym 1 year ago

FridayNightLights321 1 year ago
@FridayNightLights321 did i say anyone has crashed? no, i said it is possible and from what i have read on several car forums alot of people are against it.
i have hid's in my projector housings too and i really dont care.

150Spoke9 1 year ago
@150Spoke9 thats because most of the time, people install HID's in halogen housings. causing it to scatter the light all over the place. If you install it into a halogen housing, you need to fix it by adjusting the height of the beam. typically, you should run projectors with HID's, which give it a better output than halogen housings.

@classicchevydriver Stock lights on a lifted truck will be bright. I would just do the HIDs regardless cause you'll be flashed with stock lights even.

hids are no different then people running with fucking high beams on and not shutting them fuckers OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hell i just ordered a set of hids for my blazer and just like meade916 said If they are aimed right, they shouldnt bother anyone..........................PS ill take my hids out when assholes stop running there high beams when i get them hids good video 5 stars
blackhalk24 1 year ago
actually its a LOT different. Halogens on high beam are much more annoying then a properly set, set of HID's. Its not how bright they are its where you aim them.
meade916 1 year ago 6
@blackhalk24 Focus Eye HID lights are made for reflector housings (cars that didn't come with projector housings). You can adjust the focus of the beam manually on the HID bulb and adjust the height of the beam with a keychain remote.
plptypscp 1 year ago
@plptypscp ya i know i have a set in my blazer now lol

And no I'm not bitching and whining. I was going to buy these lights for my 08 Escape, but with a little THINKING, it appears I almost made a dumbass move. Be a man and stop getting offended at people talking LOGIC.
oxycodonez 1 year ago
I think some of these comments about not using a projector is right. Why are you attacking people because they are talking sense? You look like a fucking moron. I have seen these lights on trucks and they look stupid. Don't get offended because people are pointing something out to you called REALITY. Using a halogen reflector with these lights is a stupid and unsafe move
oxycodonez 1 year ago
@oxycodonez actually i have allready said that projectors are better - but the HID conversion isnt as bad as people think. Some people, like you, are pussies. If they are aimed right, they shouldnt bother anyone - same for the Halogen. Anyway, anyone who complains is just being a pussy IMO. How is that for reality?

jap760 2 years ago
@jap760 Ive Got the exact same truck and HID's, and i think i know which part you are talking about (the one hooked up to the majority of the wiring with the little 4 prong cap you have to remove right?)the little black box mounts straight to your stock harness. From personal experience i recommend creating some sort of bracket for your ballast to mount as opposed to using that sticky tape shit they give you

So the conversion kits are to give it more power so they can shine brighter??
ellieysama 2 years ago
the kit brings in a newer technology to your car. these are strictly gas filled xenon bulbs. there is no filament. they are like incandescent lights but way more powerful. they emit 3 to 5 times the amount of light at the regular halogen. the ballasts are voltage boosters to get the electricity to fluoresce across the xeonon gas. it runs at the same temperature, uses less electricity and emits much more light. in 10 years every new car will have hid's.
damntheman88 2 years ago
i must say this is the best how to yet! i just ordered a 6k for my ranger the other day
rangermb128 2 years ago
Too much glare. The light scatter is all over your garage. If you want to have HID you should convert them properly and only have them in a projector lens, not a halogen reflector. Do it properly or don't do it at all.
Jason24241 2 years ago
@Jason24241 nahh its not too bad and MUCH better then the halogens. I do it how i want and if you dont like it you can DEAL WITH IT.....
meade916 2 years ago
haha nice response thumbs up
damiandrifts 1 year ago
yeah really cars newer than like 2004 do a pretty good job of pointing the light in the right place. yeah against the garage there is some refraction, but it's hardly anything. you get to complain when there are hid's pointed 100 feet out from the car. the ford is shooting farthest at 50-60 feet. i have no problem with these. stop being a hater.
