when i was a little boy my dad had a camaro and my naboures across the alley had a firebird just like this it was a Chinese family and i knew a guy named paul who said his sister used to have a firebird to in the 80s hes Chinese too i used to go on there garage door and scratch it like a chalk board just to hear the weird painful noise lol
can anyone tell why my firebird only burnout one tire ??? i even checked the accels and changed my tires .. but it only burns out one tire .. the other tire just doesn't even move .
@IraqiNemesiS its because your chevy dont have enuff torque to engage the limited slip , and also you dont have posi traction. junk it and buy you a mustang if you want 2 wheel peel.
Very cool -- I used to drive a black 1988 Formula. 305 small block, had it rebuilt - bored 0.040 over and heads milled down 0.020, ended up about 313 cubic inches and higher compression!
I have a 90 form. 350 with the stupid borg warner high ratio gear, single wheel rear end..I had an 87- 442 - 307 with a 10 bolt 373 limited slip rear..This backwardness is a perfect example of GM's incompetence.
makes me wish i still had my 88 formula.....dropped a 6.2L 454 in that bitch....would drive it down dallas freeways and it would blow the doors off some stuff for real.
my neighbors got a light blue 89. built 350, 3 speed auto tranny without vaccum(forget what it is, some older tranny used for drag racing by alot of guys), roll cage, ect. ect. nicest trans am's i've seen. nice car dude
well he was riding the brake the whole time to make that burnout last. thats the problem with my 88 formula its geared too high. its really better at 60+ than at 0-60.
I have an 88 Formula 350,...that is a 5.7 liter 350 with tuned port injection it is best to do away with the 700 r4, if u want to put the horsepower to the pavement quicker,I have video of mine,..nothin special
A friend bought a Formula new in 1987 when the Formula's came back into production. His had the 305 (5.0 litre), but also available was the 350 (5.7 litre) motor. The dealer wouldn't even offer a discount on that car with the 350. Most of the ones I see now are rusted out here in the midwest.
also my rims(they are the same ones in the vid above) are starting to turn a yellowish color and ive tried wheel polishes and they dont work so if anyone can tell me how to get them to look nice again please do
get tires removed from rims then use a paint stripper or aircraft striper on them to remove the clear coat then sand them with 400 grit sand paper then work your way up to a 2500grit wet sand and then they will look 100 times better then use a few coats of a good carnuba wax instead of clearing them with paint
I have an 88 Firebird Formula and i have leaks coming in over the rear seats. I think its coming in from where the T-bar is screwed in if you know how to fix it please tell me.
I'll tell ya, I currently have a 98 Z28 and I do like it and it is fast. However, it almost feels like something is missing when compared to the IROC.

@sedvillemo or put a posi track rear end? my 5.0 was only limited slip and I would leave only one black mark 2 outta 5 times.

a 454 is a 7.4L
savagexhaley14 2 years ago 11
depends on when it was manufactured. one of the things about GM is that power just kept getting reduced on their motors and i hate that.
tamra1975 2 years ago
@tamra1975 Thats funny because 454's are 7.4 Liters...

If you spray the tire treads with WD-40, they smoke and spin more, but may start a fire, so be careful.
