  • More drums as background music.

    This guy is a maniac.

  • The fan is horrific, I pick it up loud and clear on my shotgun mic, I am going to disconnect it, otherwise the light is useless.

  • do want

  • On the body for the QL-1000 there is a small square channel with a spring friction clip. What is that for ?

  • I got mine for 250 at Amazon.com

  • @AlexandherFilms do you have the link? I can't find it on Amazon.

  • @Enited just type in "cowboy studio ql 1000" it's pretty much the same thing but I wouldn't get it. It's hard to put together and the build quality isn't that great.

  • Mark, Do you prefer this lightning kit more than the cool flo?

  • Hey Mark, great review. What would you recommend for a whole video studio kit. I see this is a good, inexpensive light kit. What kind of Camera, Mic, Green-screen kit, and video editing software would you recommend? I have some stuff but not sure I am making the quality of videos I see in this review. Would appreciate your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

  • I bought this kit and as soon as I plugged them in the bulbs stopped working in about five minutes. They don't look burnt at all, I heard a click and then nothing, the light fan is still running just no light. I'm concerned that will just happen again if I get more bulbs, any ideas what this could be? Now I have my studio ready to shoot video but no lights.

  • would these lights be good for photo?

  • O.o

  • Awesome show intro, I gotta make a few open sequences like that......I gotta get more Gear Reviews out too haha

  • it good but it work too for photo markapsolon

l need to know that please before l buy

    thank you so much

  • What are the lights that they usually use for close ups in front of the green screen? And you can usually see the light rays in the singers eyes, I know I sound proper retarded, but they look like umbrella lights or sumfin :S

  • I just received my ql1000's my question is, is it normal for these lights to smoke?

  • 2000 watts and variable is very powerful. However, what's with the fan? Pro lights should not overheat no matter what.

Thanks for the video, but why did you waste 2 minutes of fluff to get to the products?

  • cool !!!

  • cool video

  • just ordered this kit with two softboxes and the barn doors.... i cannot wait to get my hands on them!!

  • any good?

  • @razrox Yes they are great! Everything is professional quality and top notch. The lights get a little warm though..that's the only drawback i can think of. I shoot photography as well so the fan noise doesn't bother me. As for quality of light, it is excellent. I highly recommend.

  • how noisy on a scale of 10? 1 being hand held fan and 10 being a car engine lol?

  • @razrox i would say about a 2 or 2.5... its really not too bad unless you are going to have complete silence in your video... then it may pick up.. but its not awful

  • Would love to actually hear the noise level of the fans, but there is a song blasting throughout that entire section of the video...kind of missing the point of showing the comparison of fan vs. no fan.

  • SUBSCRIBED

  • i need some of those lights

  • klnlnl

  • great lights!

  • comment

  • Might just use my desk lamp lol

  • I love your reviews. Thanks!

  • who makes these lights?

  • Cool!

  • Are they loud?.....

  • telll them to send me some free software and what have you not....

  • saludos.......

yo compre esta luz pero no es blanca, siempre es amarilla, nohay manera de cambiar el bombillo por uno q de luz blanca?

  • i THINK IF YOU REALLY KNOCKED THEM OVER YOU WOULD HAVE TAPED THAT,

    GOOD REVIEW THOUGH

  • Still need a light kit...

  • You are the best on youtube u rock!

  • Pick ME I WANNA WIN

  • haha cool guess wat IPOD

  • haha this is great.

  • sweet helppp

  • Shame on you, when you were holding the lamps you touched them with your finger, that's a big no no never touch the glass on those types of bulbs they can pop after touching from the oils in your skin.. Now i know you were holding them to show people the bulbs but should have reminded people NEVER TOUCH bulbs. other then that great video as always.

  • I have this 3 peice lightkit and it's been great. However, they do blind the talent and I noticed if you try to turn them down it changes the color from white to more of an orange. The vendor says you can purchase 500watt or 750 watt so this doesn't happen. I worried about the fan noise too but mic'd up the talent and we never heard it but we also used adobe soundbooth to clean up the audio.

  • they didnt come with scrims. you dont turn down you just scrim them so you keep the same color temp.

  • I have the QL-1000 on my long list of stuff I use and they are very durible, I bought mind from Ebay and I've had it for about a year and some change now...Really comes in handy!

  • Pretty good review, but the music makes it really hard to hear what you're saying at times.

  • hey im new so can u plz plz check out my channel copy and paste this and watch my first vid i put on and PPPLLZZ subscrib when u get there and comment PLZ

  • Great information! Thanks.

However, the background music seems to be a bit overwhelming... can't really pay attention to what you say at the first time.

  • Great Reviews! Keep it up.

  • awesome!!!

  • awesome!!!

  • those reviews were really good

  • pretty boring

  • spamer spamer u just want a fckin phone

  • dude i put that there a month ago dumbass coz i was a bored and couldve gotten stuff for spamming shit face

  • Great lights, but the fan noise is actually pretty bad. Hard to use these and get really good audio for an interview. Shame really, as otherwise they are terrific lights. (Check out Mark's other video where he shows you how to disconnect the fan - oops!)

  • how do you get to know all these people and how do yo get them to send you stuff

  • he works for tubetape(i think), and tubetape sends him a bunch of stuff.

  • Great 5*

  • Does anyone kno if the SPEED RINGS come with this kit. (QL-1000)?

    amazing!! :)

  • Mark, a little off product, but please, tell me you know of a CHEAP alternative to "litepanels". These are led light panels, and for a 1ft by 1ft they are at least 1,500.00 USD. I would love one, but lack the horrendous amount of money. Do you have any plans or know of any cheap alternatives? Thanks

  • nice lights i want them very bad haha great job ur so cool

  • dude wer can i get those with 3 pin plug sockets?

  • Can you tell me the brand and where to buy that exact same kit, because I google it them and the only thing i found was one unit for $200... thx!

  • markapsolon is really inspiering he ispired me to start making moves i want to be a video editor when i am older

  • cool

  • hmmm whatever you review i decide i want, this is not good for me :P

  • He's not obligating you.

  • I know, :P everything he shows rocks though ^^

  • great review.

    thanks :D

  • thanks again for that video. i bought that kid at tubetape. they shipped it 11'000km and here it is. :-) look & feel is very professional. the fans are louder than i thought (tipple QL-1000), but no problem because i use them for photography or high-speed-filming w/o audio only. but dang, 3000Watt are brighter as the sun (ok almost) and my room is getting hot in seconds. haha.

  • hay mark i need a video edit software to use with my laptop amd turion[tm]64x2 mobile techology tl-60 2.00GHZ 894mb or ram/ 32bit operating system ati-radeon x1200 graphics

  • Are those lights Daylight or Tungston?

  • Dear cl.,

Doesn't he say, I was a bit bored with the long introduction ...

    D

  • what if I am taking pictures of posters with a glossy lamination on them. How do I get rid of that reflective shine?

  • hi i just got the studio lights sent ver from tubetape and theyre not bright... well not that bright at all...

  • Why dont we see when you knocked them down?

  • Hi Mark, thanks for your videos, it really helps! I would lower the volume of the music a little bit though, it's kinda distracting.

  • Mark, I went ahead and bought this light kit from tubetape. It came today and I love it, BUT... how do you protect the bulbs when you store it in the bag?? It didn't come with instructions and I can't find anything that will keep the bulbs safe. THANKS!

  • I would just put them back in the boxes they were originally in to begin with. Thats what I do when I break them down

  • @mwright83 how much did it cost to you bro?

  • @EddyNicolay

It was years ago, but I wanna say like 250 or 300. I "disliked" this review just now because the lights aren't nearly as silent as Mark claims. Which is why he ended up making a whole other video on how to make an on off switch for the motor/fan. I was a sucker for this video, and am finding there are much better lights for the money. I am very unhappy with the extremely yellow light that the bulbs produce as well. If anyone has any tips on that, hit me up! Gels? Bulbs that fit?

  • Mark i am buying this for my birthday and i made a video called better lighting for chroma key but i did not show the part where you light the subject so is it OK if i make another review on 2 QL-1000 soft box light kit.

  • thanks mark , im now using 500wat lights and also found that white balance was totaly differant for filming with lights :)

  • Another twat after his 15 mins of fame

  • hmmm ok

  • This is what video you get when you click on the video box on the right hand... Well, my right, your left... Looking for the contest deadline! Just grabbed a Green Screen a few days ago! Check out the practice vids! See the progress in real time!

    Tony Holobyte

  • a blue gel

  • Mark also I saved $44.00 with shipping and all $321.00 I looked on Steve's site and they where much more than what I paid.

  • Hi Mark I ended up buying this kit JTL 1500 WATT CONINUOUS LIGHTING DIGITAL/VIDEO KIT.

on eBay from STEVE KAESER BACKGROUNDS

because money is hard to come by and I saved

  • goood job as always Mark , I am looking to get one of thoes light kits and i need the web site to purchase it

  • they are cool and you might want to checkout my lastest video on the ql-1000 light too

  • I wish to know about the tune used.

    The music is awesome !

    Was it made with "Cinescore"?

  • I've never used cinescore before but I thought about buying it. Do you use it?

  • Excuse the butt-in, but I've used Cinescore a fair amount. It's a great program when it's used to its capacity, and uses keyframe-like control for changing style. It seems geared the more electronic music styles, as I have yet to find a really good symphonic theme pack. But the control you get over the mood and intensity of the songs is incredible. Blows SonicFire Pro out of the water. For royalty-free generation, I don't think there's anything better on the market.

  • I think the main reason I have not used Cinescore is because they do not have that many theme packs. I like sonicfire because there are more music packs. Its also the only one that did not sound midi-like. You should look at Richard Bands packs for great symphonic stuff. It rocks and they are making all the old one layered too.

  • Hi Mark Love the light kit I'm looking to buy one.

I'm also making one. I have friends sowing and welding

for me.this will be great to start with.

and when the Money comes in I will get a kit.

  • Hey Mark, I thought I saw a video you posted not long ago about how to MAKE a soft box light kit but now I cant find it. Was that ever on here or was it my imagination? :)

  • I had a video up a long time ago about lighting but I removed it about a half a year ago. The only video I have now about building a light kit is on my DVD called lighting made simple

  • Subscribe To Me For The Best Videos!

  • hey Mark ... I was wondering ...

I live in Romania and would like to buy this lightning kit .. but the thing is that here, we have 220v instead of 110v !

Any idea what to do ? Do they have a 220v version of the kitt ?

I'd really like to find a solution to this problem of mine :D

p.s. Do they work with photography aswell ? THANKS !

  • Your title says something about software but you didn't review any. What's up with that?

  • its going to be in another video :)

  • dahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Hey mark!

I was thinking about buying two sets but i have a question about the lights...

    What brand are they?

are there any barn doors that comes with the lights?

Can i buy barn doors for these lights?

& why do Soccer Moms buy pro SLR still cameras when they are never going to use the manual features and just point and shoot with the thing if for like $200 they can buy a like 9MP point and shoot camera that dose exactly that but is about $1300 to $500 cheaper?

    Thanks Mark!

  • good work

  • no kidding about the lighting issue. my 3ccd can be a real whiner in low light and contrast sometimes is an issue when using harsh halogen spotlighting. who wants to spend time digitally correcting. this kit looks great

  • I think most of the cameras out there are with light..lol I heard that the sony Z7u and EX1 work great in 1 lux. It would be awesome for weddings and events

  • feature whore, youre as bad as me

  • I'm a feature whore :)

  • And aftereffects

  • Hey markapsolon. I am starting to make videos with sweet effects and stuff and i had a question for a fellow video maker. What video editing program do you use? How much is it? if you could messasge me or something that would be greta. otherwise its ok.

  • Sony Vegas is the best. Check their site.

  • .........................I dont like him

  • Tubetape is down...

  • Would you love them so much if you hadn't got them for free? What if you gave them a bad review... would the company send you any more products? Just thought I'd raise some editorial questions :)

  • lol they wanted my opinion on these lights before they started selling them. They are good if they were crap I would say :)

  • We actually send our stuff to Mark to see if the community would like it. We value his opinon good or bad. His biggest worry here was the fan. We wanted him to test it for himself.

    thanks

  • your vids are very helpful. thanks :)

  • thanks!

  • these look nice , but I'm to poor now, i'm using clam and work lights right now...

  • I understand :) take a look at my lighting video it would help you alot

  • you mean the one i need to buy right?

i deciding if i should buy the whole pac or just lighting and adv cam techs

  • hey kay click this!!!!

  • cool

  • I couldn't pull a good key if i was friend's with the keymaster from Matrix Reloaded . I'm using two 1000 watt worklights , a 250 watt backlight , and a 600 watt worklight for the key ( no fill , cause i want one side to be dark ) . Everything is fine until i chroma key the footage , then it's all pixelated . How much of an impact will the processing power of the computer make . I think i'm stumbling at the point of render , it becomes all pixelated . JV

  • what editor are you using ?

  • Sony Vegas 7 pro . I'm shooting with a Samsung SC-D363 , a Dinosaur no doubt , so that's probably not helping either . I'm using your midrange greenscreen , the plastic one . JV

  • We are going to send you a muslin one and CompositeLab Pro. Let us know how it works out.

  • great info, love your vids, keep up the good work!

  • Cool I may never use it but cool anyways

  • this seems like a fantastic light kit! one of your most helpful videos

  • the music is in the way, lower it please

  • If you like my on-line free tutorials you will love my training DVD's. I cover so much more material than I could in a short on-line video. Learn how to fix problems with your chroma-key, How to build a cheap light kit, How to light for interviews, How to use your camcorder like a professional, etc etc etc!

My comedy/parodies are slap-stick and sometimes stupid. If you like that stuff you

    What would

    Report profile image violation

  • thanks dude :) I'm actually going to put up bits of the dvds soon :)

  • plogueux...

  • Kewl.

  • how about light for free?THE SUN maybe...

  • lol yea

    ☺ ◄ ►

  • clearly u dont kno much about lighting...

  • clearly your a dick hole

  • oops, clearly im a dick hole

  • the sun works but do you know how to make it work for you ?

  • Hi, it seems to me that the music is louder than your voice. ;-)

  • I hope not..lol :)

  • This seems like a really awesome kit, I wish I had it. But being a student, I'm gonna have to keep making videos guerilla style for a little while longer haha.

  • it would be so funny if u huged the light at !!banng!!it blew lol

  • dangit Mark you just have to show off with your awesome intro videos dont cha lol ;d

i have a question about lighting, what do you use for a dark scene when you don't want too much but need to shop the face at least? oh wait i think you just talked about it on dimming the light but i need a smaller one.

  • try a focused spot light only. BTW go checkout my website :)

  • anyways...what kind or name of software did u used in video editing

  • where do you get your music from? you have a few videos on your backgrounds, but i have enough of those...its the royalty-free background music i'm lookin to buy

  • I emailed you

  • I actually had an issue with these lights from tube tape..... after about 1 hour continuous lighting the white cloth thing inside burned and started to smoke!!! then i bought another 1!!!

  • dude I never had an issue and I left them on at max for hours and i've been using them at lest four times a week since I shot this review with no problems at all. My power bill will reflect it next month..lol

  • y buy another after it caught fire? hmmm, sounds like a hater to me

  • i can hear the background music ... not the fan.

  • why is it all u do is promote tube tape and y are you always trying to sell something

  • They sent me the lights and i did a review. People want to know about a lot of equipment before they buy it. I'm working on get more things to review too

  • That's what I'm talking about! Mark, great video, informative and useful. Some of us don't have time to experiment or network with others "live" do to location, finances, etc. I hope venders send you more "stuff" to review. Very useful information...I can't say it enough. As a writer first, director, producer and Jack of all trades in V-videoland, I have no time to R & D. Zero budgets also add to being creative etc. But I am preaching to the choir. Kudos Grande. Later mate.

  • I do my best and I hope I can have more stuff like this up soon :)
