We have a 2005 Kubota L3400, decent sized tractor, starts well without glow plugs(it has them, but we don't use them often).

@infinity3jif oooo so thats what they mean by cold-starting cars, how can you erm.. hot-start a car then?
@phoenixfaction umm start it and then let it warm up to operating temp, then shut it off, so now the engine is hot now while the engine is hot start it and thats a hot start "lol" get it

sounded like it was only starting on 2 cylinders on the last one at first but then it started on all of them after you preheated it some more

all u need is 10 seconds on the glow plugs and full throttle and back it off when it starts my jd always starts like that
