  • the video is from reading but the audio is from another show.

  • j with a telecaster is odd.

  • @GoneMr1984 You should see J play a Les Paul. He played Start Choppin' with a LP on a show called The Word

  • I remember the mtv video of this song..it sounded much better than this live version..terrible vocals..

  • Nirvana...sucks...baws

    Dinosaur jr...rawks....ass

  • @Latinarama get fucked in the ass by a knife

  • AMAZING.

  • so weird to see him without a jazzmaster

  • I invented grunge n' roll in the year 1834 while smoking weed in my backyard aboveground swimming pool. I played an alternate version of freebird on my 3rd bridge electric koto. Suddenly, out of thin air, Steve Albini appeared and offered me a recording contract on sony/BMG. That very afternoon I recorded Ten, Nevermind, and Superunknown. All the arguing about grunge can stop now.

  • nirvana had very similar stage presence to dinosaur jr, that's what @AlvacadoNlemnos means i think.

  • great song...

if nirvana became NIRVANA because of dinosaur jr... where do the melvins, pixies and sonic youth fit in there? non important? weiuuuurd.

  • @JWPP2008 nope, not important.

  • God, my volume needs to be LOUDER!!!!!! :D

  • j mascis is a ridiculously underrated guitarist!!

  • this is a dinosaur jr video.....how dare you speak of grunge...grunge ruined awesome music!! SOUNDGARDEN FTW!!!!

  • This tune just reminds me of skating at Rotation Station in Rockford. Always on the PA when I would ride the bowl on Saturdays. Good stuff!

  • fuck your grunge conversation. it's called rock and roll you douche bags.

  • Great tune from Dino Jr....BUT lets not forget HUSKER DU!!

    American Hardcore machine!!

  • This is a great song. Neil Young is the father of grunge, Nirvana are the kings of grunge

  • J. fuckin shredded that solo at the end. he's so friggin metal, no mega-distortion needed

  • estoy de acuerdo , pero ellos influenciaron a nirvana y otras bandas mas, a crear el llamado grunge por eso digo que son los padres .

  • they are the father of grunge

  • jorgrunger@ ther are not the father of grunge Nirvana is there the band that made grunge untill Kurt Cobain (Singer) killed himself in 94 R.I.P Kurt Cobain

  • @619time2619

Nirvana totally did not invent grunge if you want to call it that. Listen to something that was recorded before 1990 please

  • @maydocovers I do i listen to 70,80,90 and thats all :P

  • long live the 90s

  • Now thats a crowd. READING AND DINOSAUR JR FOREVER!

  • i've loved this song forever

  • what year was this? I'm seeing them in 1 month in Toronto! can't wait! :D

  • 1997.

  • one of my fav songs. unfortunately i do feel the pain of everyone, j's, mine...

  • Crazy what a year or two did to Jay. He looks 30 years older now.

  • Comment removed

  • Saw DJ two weeks ago. Jay has become Sarumon, but he still rocks hard. He only said four words for the entire 2 hours: "Vocals down, guitar up."

  • J the grey!

  • this song makes me wanna skate playgrounds. its so fun and awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • i tihnk that might be a faulty guitar lead coz right at the end of the song you see him reach down to fiddle with his lead or input jack or something

  • i was just shocked...because i saw them one year later as red hot chili peppers' support and at that point of time his hair was completely grey...

  • excellent

  • @Thevideopyramidhead1

If Green Day decided to make an album that sounds more like some of their 90's stuff 95% of their current fans would stop listening to them and their record label would drop them. They'll be milking this eyeliner thing until their 50 years old, or until fans pick up another sad/emo-looking fad.

But apart from that, damn, Dino Jr. fuckin' rocked that song

  • J mascis man...he can shred (=

  • What the fuck is this-I did a search on Dinosaur jr and it brought up a link to the Feel the pain video which I thought would have the music video to it! But no, I canna find it! Good one though!

  • hey man dino jr rocks...hard

  • they sure shook reading festival up

  • I feel the pain of everyone(guitar riff) then I feel nothing

  • Cancionsota¡¡¡ no me la saco de la cabeza............thkx man

  • who's the drummer here?

  • George Berz

  • nirvana became NIRVANA because of dinosaur jr.

  • Ahhh men to that brother.

  • @AlvacadoNlemons bullshit, nirvana became nirvana because kurt cobains a fucking genius. and by the way it was the pixies who nirvana emulated for Nevermind. get yo facts straight boy.

Dinosaur Jr. is awesome though, as I am listening to them as i write this

  • @mjhilps

Of course you are listening to them as you write. It's their video you are commenting on.

  • @cardigansarecool no shit sherlock. thats my point

  • @AlvacadoNlemons *melvins

  • @AlvacadoNlemons Apparently during that show Kurt Cobain asked J if he could be the lead guitarist for Nirvana. J laughed and declined.

  • Great band and great song!

  • So much hair...it's everywhere. It's like a sea of It's.

  • so what's up with the 1:3 aspect ratio?

  • why are they throwing thing at them? =/

  • ehh its an outdoor concert, people just do that regardless of the band

though i do have to say the vocals arent as great live, so some may not know how awesome dinosaur jr really is based on this performance

  • yeah but throwing water bottles is a bad idea you could couase something on stage to burn up

  • heh

  • That was the show in which it started raining and they threw mud at Mudhoney and the other bands. It's also the show wher Donita Sparks [L7] tossed her used tampon at the crowd. :)

  • lmao

    is that true?

  • No joke. You can look it up or ask people who were there. It was a classic show. I wish I were my age now when they did this,I'd have loved to have gone to see them. I think it was in 1992,so I was around 1 year old.

  • Thevideo

Is that the festival where Green Day had all those problems with the amount of mud that was tossed at them? One of them got hurt by accident, I think; ran into a security guard or s.t.

  • Comment removed

  • No. This was before Green Day. This was like, 1992.

Green Day came out around '94-'95.

This had Nirvana, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr., L7 and a few other bands. Green Day wasn't in this group.

  • Thevideo

Thanks. I just remembered some incident with mud at a festival, and Green Day was "hardest hit." But Dookie came in '94, and the incident was definitely after that. so you are clearly right.

    Hats off.

  • Hahaha. Green Day was awesome back in the day. Now they're sellout losers. But they might make a comeback if they stop writing stuff that sounds exactly the same as the next song. And I think that was the episode where Green Day claimed the mud was made from shit from the sewers or something.lol Which actually would explain/promote Dookie.

  • fyi green day formed in 89. and they're not half as good as dinosaur jr. :)

  • I meant they became popular around the mid 90's.

    Dinosaur is the best.

  • they formed in 86. FYI.

  • 85' actually

  • @binstig i though it was 84 ?

  • @unferoathlover im on about green day

not dinosaur jr. because billie joe was 16 i think

    in 1986.

  • @Thevideopyramidhead1 We like to do it right, here in Blighty, and the bands tend to reciprocate ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @Thevideopyramidhead1 No it wasn't. That was Reading '92, with Mudhoney, L7, The Melvins & Nirvana etc. Dinosaur never played that year.

  • wat year was this gig..?

  • 1997

  • And you can do better?

  • "they suck live"

razz: "And you can do better? "

No kidding. And anyway, I've never heard of anyone who "sucks dead."

  • telecaster?

  • esquire bro, only 1 pickup.

  • What year was that?

  • 1997

  • Thanks man

  • You're Welcome

  • My mom has a friend name Trisha and Lou Barlow is her cousin. My mom met Lou and they became friends. So when Lou is in town somtimes I get to see him.

  • kool

  • That is one thin screen! Good video still.

  • they are better live then they are in studio idk what yr talking about

  • j mascis used tele?huhuhuu

  • HAHA in the crowd everyone is getting bottled

  • dinosaur jr still going strong.j made some good cds with j mascis and the fog.j is my fave guitarist ever.saw him live solo with just his acoustic in london, amazing,i prefered that gig to seeing dinosaur jr.though still joint fave band with afghan whigs.

  • the solo is quite orgasmic i must say

  • i miss the 90's music, new millenium music sucks, the people of today just want to see bands of shit like muse, 30 seconds to mars, coldplay.... etc. only shit, the great music and the great bands live in the oblivion, sad

  • something better better show up soon or we'll all surely suffocate from the bad fumes of new millenium shite tunes

  • I agree bro,100%, this song brings back so

many memories but i dont remember this band,

could you tell me another good song that they

had out in the 90s, i just cant remember the

band, i had my tv on xm the other day and

this song came on, i whent to see who, and it said feel the pain by smashing pumpkins, well

i new that was a miss print so i found it on

utube and i love the song but cant place the band, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol.

  • It's Dinosaur Jr. Buy every album.

  • cept the new one )=

  • Whaaaa!?!? Beyond is one of their best without a doubt!

  • i have all of them

    :]]

    including j's "martin & me"

  • its dinosaur jr.

  • in the ninetees... The Wagon, Out There, Start Choppin', Get Me, I Don't Think So..those are pretty much the ones that got radio play

  • agree with all the sucky bands you listed, but theres some good modern stuff. you just gotta look in the right places. its sure as hell not anything youd hear on the radio.

  • So true

  • Despite the fact that larger crowds may be appear to be completely stationary when watching Dinosaur Jr, I can assure you there are some of us in there who are absolutely loving it. Speaking from experience.

  • Look at the energy of that crowd. I hate new millenium crowds. They just fucking stand there and if someone gets excited or starts moving around, they look at you in disgust.

  • This was around 1994 so not new millenium?!? And as I recall the crowd were going fucking nuts for the entire gig. I was on the front barrier and the crush was tight but worth it to see this gig!

  • you just made the official dumbest comment ever. no, 1994 is not the new millenium, 2000 and beyond is the new millenium. get with the times man, get with the times...

  • Yo, you're so right!! What is it with this fucking emo-fucktwat generation?! They fucking suck!

  • BabyWetsAllNight comment was positive on the crowd. He didn't meant on this crowd in the video. So, cool down.

I'm happy to say I'll watch Dinosaurs live in Belgrade, Serbia on 5th september. One of my favorite bands for almost 15 years...

  • poopoo24 as replying to mroyan's comment.

  • Cool song dude.

  • What Year was this??

  • 1994, I believe.

  • Is it just me, or does J always use a Tele for this song?

  • j mascis is like a very cool experiment in what would happen if you gave someone with the musical ability of joe satriani a gram of weed a day for 20 years ...

  • WHAT Du YU MEAN MASCIS WOULD GRIND TAT SATRIANI INTO THE FUKIN GROND!!!

  • satriani can lick a wang

  • i agree man.

  • dude this is epic... rock on junior..

I was hoping that there would be this songs music video

  • awesome

  • the solo is quite orgasmic i must say

  • I so wish they would tour on those middle 3 albums

  • Liked it a lot. Best song by a brilliant band!

  • Awesome! One of my favourite Dinosaur Jr. songs ever!

  • not bad

  • as nietz writes, j mascis' guitarsolo at the end and thru the entire song btw. is freakin awesome. you've got a nerve to say something as arrogant as not bad, nap.

  • your merit on music has also been reduced to "not bad"

dinosaur jr are for those who can spot genius. few.
