  • When you mentioned using magic lantern for timelapses and not having the shutter actuate, how do you set that up?

  • When you say "5D" do you mean 5D or do you mean 5D Mark II???

  • The 'EOSInfo' utility worked a treat for me! From astrojargon(dot)net.

  • @toms1311 What camera do you have, 40D? That doesn't work on my 7D or 5D :(

  • @BigShanksProductions I have the same problem when loading to a website. Looks great on my desktop but when I load to the web all my pics are darker. Did you get any resolution? It was suggested by some people that it may me one of the following: 1) Compression on the website 2) check and make sure I am using SRGB 3) my monitor may be very bright and thus I could darken it for post production in Lightroom so that the images come out brighter when placed on the web.

    The Meltdownman

  • On my 30D shutter died after 144k. Replaced it, works like a new. no problems

  • easiest way to tell is to keep the file numbering to continuous so then you simply looking as most recent file number and thats how many actuations your camera has performed.

  • @roystreetmedia What about video?

  • 18,000 pictures and 20,000 LV videos in the past year! Thanks for showing me this option, im amazed!

  • If I recall correctly, Artoftheimage stated that the T2i/T3i is rated at 100k actuations whereas the 7D was rated at 150K.

  • @Kennykid2002 do you know which video that is that Marty did, I would like to watch it.

  • @drumat5280

I couldn't find the video, it may not have even been him who said it. I came across it while watching comparison videos and reading through a lot of information. However, I did some searching and if you look on "the-digital-picture" website, it says

"If the T2i falls in line with the recent Rebel bodies, it will wear a 100,000 actuation rating. That is a lot pictures."

and if you look on the 7D review, it says 50% more than 50D which is 100,000, so 150,000 actuations

  • i have a video that is 1080p that I've been trying to upload. The video looks perfect when playing back at 1080p and 720p but it looks very bad when the video plays the default 360p unlike yours which still looks pretty amazing at 360p. I've experimented with uploading many different file types and using a variety of codecs but they all end up looking the same. Has anyone else encountered this? And what is the fix? im using the t2i typically i edit in fcp and after effects is my final render out

  • @VBransonDesigns He has good lighting and he's using a f/1.8 which is great in low light so it doens't give noise at all

  • @VBransonDesigns :: Export your 1080p footage in .mp4 format using these settings:

1920x1080, 23.976 fps, 1 Pass, Target bitrate 20 Mbps, Max bitrate 24 Mbps. These are my premiere pro settings and the quality comes out very nice. By doing this, you really increase the file size, however, the quality will be very good. You can try lowering target bitrate to 10Mbps and max bitrate to 12Mbps for smaller file size. I use these settings (20 Mbps) for my videos in my channel.

  • ok my bad.. canon exif data does not includes image number on flickr.. sorry

  • If u upload a photo into flickr, in the exif info bottom it says the image number and thats the shutter actuations

  • @HarilandeR i just tried looking at one of my Flickr meta exif data and I could not locate it. What is it under?

  • @drumat5280

    Image Number 19747

    Approximate Focus Distance 3.35

    Color Transform YCbCr

these are the last 3 lines in the exif data..

I'm shooting with Nikon dslr so I dont know if thats a factor :(

  • @HarilandeR my image number shows 0, I wonder if that is because I use Lightroom before uploading.

  • @drumat5280 I always use lightroom but I think its an option saving metadata, can't say for sure what's what

  • @HarilandeR it resets after 10k images...so that's useless...

  • @finalhourr my flickr info says 20606 so in my case it doesnt reset :)

  • Good vid, good music, good 3D animation.

  • Dave, This video looks great. Are you doing something new in your workflow, or using new lighting?

  • @atreyabasu I lowered the contrast on this one in post I also spent a lot of time trying to balance the color right.

  • Hey Dave! You should review the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 NON VC lens!

  • Hey Dave, could you do a tutorial on how to do timelaps with magic lantern?

  • Magic Lantern makes me so jealous of all my T2i and 60D friends... I am stuck waiting for them to figure it out on the 7D. I know you do not have one but maybe you know someone who has it working on the 7D? On another note; keep up the good work. I already knew nothing short of sending it to canon would work but this video will help alot of others for sure.

  • I use PhotoBucket for that info. Works on my T3i

  • Dave, thanks for your videos!

Will love to see Magic Lantern most usefull stuff by Dave Dudale =)

And also what shutter speeds are recommended for video.

  • whats Live view i see T2i while recording movie ?

  • Love the new title sequence and music! Well done!

  • I should get a life right? :)
