Hero Academy is a game in its infancy. You're mentioning adding match-making features based on skill to a game that only has a few thousand people playing it? How much would that divide the player base? This isn't World of Warcraft with 10.2 million people playing and anyone can find anyone at any time of the day.
The reviewer is correct that it'd be nice to have some sort of stats for matchmaking, like an ELO system, so that the strong don't mash upon the weak.
I'm surprised to see people so upset about paying $2 for the Dark Elf team when the base team (Council) is both free and excellent. It makes me very pleased to see a quality turn-based play-by-email game like this try to take on the free-to-play casual market.
@PhilGerb93 The thing is I'd rather pay for the full game at a set price and get everything than get a game with little to no content and then buy the missing content to make your experience in the game more enjoyable. Another reason why I hate DLC on consoles when all it downloads is a stupid key to unlock something already on the disc. It's robbery in my eyes. I'll only accept premium DLC as they have something to download at least. That's just me though.
Andrew I added you for a game. By the way, this game has a lot of potential. With more races, more creative maps, and a single player it could really pick up. I was actually playing with one of the game developers yesterday and we were talking about this.
@LaPerrucheVerte they should put a multi play mode , so that u can play with your friends it would be soooo great if they do that u can play with them all the day and u dont have 2 wait like 10min-1h for some1 to use 1 turn
every time i play i wait like 30min then they play wtf =/ !!
@bjzaba However, at least Hero Academy isn't hiding or preventing people from enjoying the game if they don't make a purchase - as far as I know there aren't even adverts if you play for free... you're simply restricted to the default set of heroes (ie. no Dark Elves). If they were hiding a paid-for singleplayer or similar then I'd be more concerned :)
@bjzaba because it's a lie that they're free. I think zombie parkour runner did it right by making the runner's high powerup easier to access that you'd have to work in the game to get, or having an additional set of more difficult levels for 99 cents. I found Hero Academy very sluggish without having a computer to play against and waiting for people can take forever. It also favors defense since a defensive player can take out a knight in 1 turn with repeated hits given the 5 team turn system.

Freemium is sadly the future of games and it sucks. It sucks big balls. However if done right it can be passable.

I bloody hate freemium games. I have no idea why, but they just seem so slimy. All bar Legends of Yore, that is.

Hero/Monster chess I like the idea. It is a shame it uses Facebook over Game Center though.
