To think - a bonnie lil band from a war that was a colorful march in line and fire in formation...... to a sick in the mud industrial pre-modern trench war.
And...................a tune that ended in "Look at all them injuns!"
if i remember correctly the 14 th brooklyn was the only union regiment to be named for a city and not a state...also they have a statue near the railroad cut at gettysburg
Actually they have 3 Monuments at Gettysburg. They fought all 3 days in fact. One at the Railroad Cut, One at Mcpherson's Ridge and One on the slope of Culp's Hill.
@14thBrooklynE 78th and 102nd were up on Culp's Hill. They were like the only two regiments up there when the rebs attacked the first time. I had ancestors in the 78th.
They should of have the 23rd Bronx Regiment we would of kick Butt

They're not zouaves. the 14th Brooklyn (84th New York) wore the uniform of Chasseurs à pied (hunters on foot).
JMAZZ80 3 years ago 9
Exactly... Finally someone who knows their history! And I'll let the 84th NY comment go this time...
