  • tks for the info on the 14 brooklyn...i had forgotten that totally...havent been back to gettysburg since 1990,,

  • if i remember correctly the 14 th brooklyn was the only union regiment to be named for a city and not a state...also they have a statue near the railroad cut at gettysburg

  • Actually they have 3 Monuments at Gettysburg. They fought all 3 days in fact. One at the Railroad Cut, One at Mcpherson's Ridge and One on the slope of Culp's Hill.

  • @14thBrooklynE 78th and 102nd were up on Culp's Hill. They were like the only two regiments up there when the rebs attacked the first time. I had ancestors in the 78th.

  • They're not zouaves. the 14th Brooklyn (84th New York) wore the uniform of Chasseurs à pied (hunters on foot).
