Say what you like about the gameplay...these graphics were PHENOMENAL for the mid 90's. All the actors are instantly recognisable from the movie. In fact, this game probably made better use of motion capture than the Mortal Kombat titles.

I guess I'll be the lonely defender of the game. I really loved it. I like how they work clips from the film into Dhalsim's Lab and the Komande Centre; I think other backgrounds look great even without film clips in them--like the Jungle and the Tong Warehouse. And I love the special techniques that this game adds--like Bison's electric arc.

But I do tend to have the minority view on everything. Not on purpose, though.

i'm not gonna argue about the game being bad, but some of your complaints don't hold any ground:

1) i don't understand your first complaint about throwing. in sf, you should be able to throw your opponent regardless of whether they are standing or crouching.

2) you should be able to get out of honda's or cammy's or zangief's command throws by either jumping or doing a somersault on wakeup. easy.

3) you're playing the AI. the value of a fighting game lies in how well it holds up in versus play.

I saw the arcade cabinet once and gave it a shot....it sucked...the characters barely respond well and half the time u try to hit someone with a move he CPU could land like using "guile's" roundhouse kick as an anti-air move didnt happen...it shouldn't even be played I mean it would constantly show "JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME" in the screen constantly during the demos. They must've thought it would be a great incentive to get ppl to play...but it was an EPIC fail on the develovers part if u ask me.

Actually, I've got a black belt in Taekwondo and I'm studying Jiu-Jitsu. :-) I don't have an issue with the weight discrepancy; I have a problem with the lack of leverage a person would have if the opponent is crouching. They all perform shoulder throws, which only work if the opponent is standing. Also, if you play the game, the computer opponent can just ignore your attack and throw you when it wouldn't seem possible.

I think its all about lead actors, as Jean Claude was the lead actor, i guess the producers didn't want other characters to dominate the screen and so therefore Ken and Ryu looked like weaklings. If Ken and Ryu had equal muscles like Van damme did then there wouldn't be a main character.
